First be told that allah can NOT give victory, but only God, may be that's why boko has been plummeting our army, in between nobody ask for holiday on sunday, sunday has been a resting day long before islam come to be, be wise
If you think God is for the christians, then I think we should also remove GOD from the first stanza of our anthem

'O God of creation' and also from the end of our pledge 'so help me God' because Nigeria is not a christian nation.

It is one of the languages we speak. On many of the insignia worldwide the Latin language is used even when none of them speak Latin or ever did as a nation.

Likewise it is not a language literately spoken in Nigeria, however it holds rank as one of the ancient languages of the human race. We could have used Latin and the result would be same.

There are many ancient languages, why did it have to be Arabic, how many Nigerian ethnicities understand what those inscriptions mean?

you are economical with the truth!

THAT INSCRIPTION TRANSLATES TO "ONLY ALMIGHTY ALLAH CAN GRANT VICTORY - ONLY ALLAH!"

LIKE THE OP. MY QUESTION IS - IS ARABIC PART OF OUR LINGUAL FRANCA? undecided undecided

WHY NOT WRITE IT IN ENGLISH??

THIS IS WHY I SOMETIME WONDER IF THIS COUNTRY WAS REALLY MEANT FOR ALL OF US! undecided

FEW DAYS AGO ONE MOFUKA PUBLISHED LIST OF CIVIL SERVANTS BY STATES BUT FAILED TO ALSO GIVE US LIST OF OUR MILITARY, PARAMILITARY AND OTHER SERVICES PERSONNEL BY STATES OF ORIGIN!

HIPOCRISY!!
I have not find d arabic word of "Almighty" in d text, I wonder wia u see it. Secondly, "Allah or Rabb" is d arabic name of "God". Even non-muslims in Arabia refer 2 d Gods dey believe in as "Allah". I have studied and learnt d Arabic language for more dan 10years and anybody dat undrstnds d language except for dos who are sentimental will translate dis statement as "Victory is from God"

My strong take is that he will pretend as if it is not as important as getting jobs for the Nigerian youths!
Muslim /Christian sentiments will always be here for a long while! Check from even amongst young people on Nairaland...if the question is put here...
If you want that Arabic insignia removed...all the AYEs will be Christians and all the NAYs will be Muslims! As in all on both sides of the divide..so where do we go from here?

Naa! That is what they called 'divide & conquer'

Guy,this one isnt latin but arabic or should i say hausa arabic

I have just highlighted the source of your confusion, the notion that the inscription conceeda influence to the hausa.

The fact remains if you showed this to many hausa individuals they like yourself would not be able to read it. It is aramic not hausa Arabic which does not exist. It is not a language exclusive to Muslims.

It also holds significant rank in Nigeria as it is the first lettered language which Nigerians came in contact with before english or Portuguese. Before that we did not practice writing

Awusa!

So which day does the ibo man speak arabic? Or the yoruba man asides ile ekewu?

Most Hausa don't even speak the language, it is however a scholarly language studied by few as you mentioned often Islamic clerics just as many Catholic priests may study Latin.

I personally don't care how butt-hurt you are, it is a member of the NA insignia and would stay forever

everything to some people is politics in Nigeria. what is wrong in us having the logo what it is? If you think with your religion, you must have your way in everything in Nigeria, then you are not fair and you cannot realize your expectation. How would you see it if the Muslims too ask for holiday on Fridays to allow them go to mosque like you people do on Sunday? You diplomatically argue, mend and manipulate issues to favour yourselves rather than allowing God to have His way. We understand the basis of your question. ''no be today''

Muslims are the best of mankind!

What is this one saying? Is Sunday part of the Civil Service/government workers working days? Now tell me, what do you say about those running shift in the service work and they are supposed to be at their various place of worship but could not simply because the were placed on duty of a very good Sunday's like this?

Abeg say something else ojare.

And which of the ancient languages apart from Arabic and Latin do we have any connections with. Latin has never been spoken in any Nigerian community.

It looks great and I like it the way it is. Cry me a river if you don't like it

Islamic clerics speak it, and there is proof that many decades ago before the advent of British education system many more people used it in the courts of the Kano sultanate and in the Bornu Empire by scribes. It is also a lettering which predates most others.

tmotmo: I will agree with you on this. However the
following should also be implemented alongside with
your suggestion: (1) Removal of all Crescent and/or
Cross signs in all public Hospitals, Schools and other
Government Buildings and Document (2) Declaration
of Sundays and Fridays and not Saturdays and
Sundays as weekly resting days. This could show that
the Country is not been Christianized as the present
Saturday and Sunday weekend do not allow non-
Christian to have full benefit of dedicated worshipping
on other days. Example of this is the Friday Service by
the Muslims and other days that might be for
traditional worshippers. Alternatively, maybe we should
scrap this weekend stuff/ religious related holidays
and do like they do in developed countries, and
workers get paid on the basis of hours worked for. I
can bet it, we might be a more productive Nation. NB:
Please don’t hide your response on the basis of "this
what our colonial masters handed over to us".
Remember, that colonial were not here alone, they
came with the CRUSADERS otherwise called
MISSIONARIES.
it pains that i must qoute you so missionaries were crusaders.oh was mary slessor a crusader too
