opey25:My dear, your point is baseless in the sense that if you open your english dictionary, you will see thousands of Latin and Greek words there together with their meanings. So, my questions are: Who wrote the dictionary? How many Arabian and Persian words are in the english dictionary? Are the words Biology and Mathematics originated from english words? Thanks as I await for your answers. |

I think buhari may have been presenting nigeria as a muslim country, to other nations. I read in the news last night that mali has been declared as a muslim country by their president. What happens to the christians in mali? Same faith i believe, awaits nigeria in the near future. Me thinks we nigerians should be very concerned/worried about this issue 1 Like |

If you understand how politics works, you will know that every thing is involved in politics ok!, from the food on your table to the shiite in your toilet, yes! Everything is and should be politics. Because politicians will use every aspect of living, object, even an arabic inscription written on nigerian army logo. Believe me i know! Politicians even use their kids, wives, parents to try and win elections. |

walexwalata:Guy, there is no justifiable reason for it except for the Islamic dominance and bigotry prevalent in many spheres of our national existence. English is our lingua franca not Arabic. You asked about holiday on Friday forgetting that even your Quran doesn't prescribe holiday (or rest) for you Muslims on your day of worship. I've heard an Imam preach on it before. Apart from that, our colonial masters gave us the kind of system they operate in their country, and since it was convenient for you Muslims, you keyed into it. It wasn't because you guys only wanted peace, but simply because there was no basis for raising up dust there. 1 Like |

nwaanambra1: Chai! No wonder this country is so backward. The name "ALLAH" is your headache I'm sure. But Allah is the Arabic word for God. Ask your Christian brethren in the north. Even in their churches when they are praying or worshipping, they use the word Allah for God. Open your mind bro. I also advise you leave your obscure enclave and travel to other parts of the country. It wld help your orientation. 1 Like |

Why make a mountain out of a molehill? The Latin alphabet that we and many other peoples of the world have adopted as their writing system is not the only orthography available to write a language. Many institutions of learning, from primary school to university, write their motto not only using the Latin alphabet but in Latin language. Meaning you, as a responsible and curious student, are expected to LEARN what the "mysterious inscription" means. And if we're to unnecessarily complicate the issue we would argue that Latin as an ancient language is synonymous to Christianity. Should we then jump to the conclusion that any institution that uses Latin inscriptions for whatever purpose is religiously biased? Moreover, the so-called Muslim or Arabic inscription is written using Ajami, one of the writing systems in the northern and eastern parts of Africa. It's not uncommon to have a single language codified using different writing systems. So, next time you want to label someone an illiterate, ask yourself how many writing systems can YOU READ. Writing down a language does not start and end at using the popular A B C. 1 Like |

Am not here to quote any one. But my question is: why is it so hard for you people to understand simple explanations given to you ehn!. Let me remind you 1. It not Arabic but its anjami Hausa's ancient Language. 2. Why all the ruckus when it comes to Arabi/Islam; some popular slangs we used everyday is in Latin, French et al, no complain about that huh? 3. 3/4 of the population speaks Arabic every blessed day, and you com to tell its not our ligua franca. Is lingua franca itself English?. Get some sense wailing wailers 2 Likes |

Hmmm, the Muslim haters av taken this to another level. Arab is a language like English. Some even av an headache with the Arabic translation of 'Allah' being 'God', na wa o If it were Latin no one wld cry abt using a language tht has nothing to do wt Nigeria or our lingua Franca |
