Good afternoon all, Please I have some questions, I'm currently going through the pages of he thread but I think this might be peculiar to me. I have a National diploma in petroleum engineering and a degree in petroleum engineering but my masters is in computer systems engineering (unrelated) is it wise to assess all with WES? Will I get the 135 points at the end? Secondly, I currently have work experience as a process engineer will it be wise to nominate petroleum engineer as my chosen profession with the experience I have? Thanks for ur help. |
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by bubsykay: 8:26pm On Dec 14, 2015 |
chuckdee13: You can assess your highest qualification (masters) and you will get the necessary points as far as its equivalent to Canadian masters, no matter what you studied at UG. Based on recommendations here, WES seem to be the best and fastest so far. Finally, Your NOC will be determined by your core responsibilities on the work experience which you are claiming points. |

Akexstinger: Kindly read the previous pages for an explicit infor about the EE. You can use your Korea work experience if its the same NOC with your IT. Please note that you will be required to submit a reference from all previous employer. IELTS link: https://ielts.britishcouncil.org You will have access to free materials online after registering and you can try youtube as well. |
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by JesusDWay(m): 11:59pm On Dec 14, 2015 |
bubsykay: @ Akexstinger.......there's no cheaper IELTS, it's a fixed price, now for 52k. Register via the link provided for you above. Also, you can't use your Korea training to apply, it's not related to your previous work experience and it's not up to a year, besides it's a training and not work experience so, go with only your IT but I'm hoping 1year will be sufficient in the final analysis sha! |

Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by bubsykay: 7:49am On Dec 15, 2015 |
chuckdee13: I believe those are the backlog applications from FSW 2014, it was replaced with the EE in January 2015. The EE comes with ITA first after creating a profile and it doesn't take that long. Someone else might be able to explain this better thou, as I'm also in the process..... |

bubsykay: Sorry for the late response. They're very effective, if you pay for standard you'll get it in 2 weeks but if you pay for express you'll get it in 5 days like I did. |

zandora: @ zandora Thank you! hope you are enjoying Canada winter. That's the best country I have ever visited so far. I was there in summer. Jezz I can't wait to go pack there abeg. |
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by JesusDWay(m): 2:01pm On Dec 15, 2015 |
Momoluwa: You will only get 5points for having close family under FSW requirements, you won't get any point in your crs score though, we learnt the new govt is planning to award extra crs marks for those who have close relatives there. Also note that 'cousin' does not count as close relative under Express Entry, only grandparents, grandchildren, brother/sister, uncle/aunt, nephew/niece count as close relative |

Hello House, I am planning to enter the EE pool and would like to know if this would suffice. I got a three year diploma in ICT before continuing to get the degree after a year. So the Diploma was issued after three years of study and the degree issued after four years of study. Will this apply to me? Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees. One must be for a program of three years, where I could claim points for both the Diploma and the Degree separately? Please help. |
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by Rebe: 5:21pm On Dec 15, 2015 |
Dear Everyone, I am in a dilemma, I am hoping someone can help me out. I got my ITA on the 4th of December and I already got all my documents (police certificate, medicals, reference letter) then I realised that for my previous experience, I backdated the start date by 2 weeks (instead of using my resumption date of 2nd June, I used the acceptance date on the employment letter (18th May). I would not have qualified for the ITA if not for the error as my CRS would have been 25 points less. My dilemma is should I decline the ITA and re-enter the pool? Will my medicals and police certificate still be valid if I do this or I will have to get another one? The reference letter given to me by my previous employer shows that I started work on the 18th May but my conscience would not let me rest. Kindly advise me, is it wise to decline the ITA? Thank you. |

Rebe: You can use 18 May because technically that was the date you were assigned to work for the company. Your reference letter also reads 18 May so I don't understand what the problem is. 2 Likes |

Hey hmohammed, re your post below, in addition to looking at the skilled migrant programs on this forum which has a lot of information, another option you can try concurrently is to try to transfer to the Canadian office of your big 4 firm. It's not an easy process and requires luck and networking but it is possible. No harm putting your self up for global mobility to Canada within your firm for either a secondment (which can be made permanent) or transfer while networking to find someone in the Canadian firm who can pull you over, and at same time working on the skilled workers programme. House, please I need advise on steps to be taken to relocate to Canada. I have over 5 years work experience in Nigeria in one of the Big 4 accounting firms in the world. Thank you as you help a brother in need of your experience on the subject matter. |

We are still evaluating this canada move; can someone kindly help with answers If after going through all the process and one is eventually selected via EE, what is the timeframe given for one to relocate to canada; before they cancel the permanent residency. Also, if the husband is the principal applicant; can the wife and kids relocate first and then the husband join later. Thanks |

Hello all, Please what is the importance of "Date account was opened" as part of CIC requirement in respect of POF. In my case, my POF account was opened mid-November with the required POF fund in it, and i hope to apply mid-April. Will this raise a red flag on where the fund was brought in from to open the account and why it was opened exactly 6 months ago. Thank you |

dserious: - If you're given PR then you must arrive not later than 1 year after the date of your medical exams. - If the husband is the principal applicant then he must arrive first, either alone or with his wife and children. The dependents cannot arrive before the principal applicant. |
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by dupyshoo: 9:18am On Dec 17, 2015 |
First, you have to land before your medicals expires in order to activate your PR status and to obtain PR card. Please note that Medicals is valid for a year. After landing, you can come back to your country. However, it is required that you have to live in Canada for 2 years out of 5 years in order to still retain permanent residence status. Therefore, technically, you can stay in your country for about 3 years before eventually relocating to Canada. I think (not sure) the Principal Applicant has to either land first or with all the family Members. dserious: |

FunW: You will be given a job seeker validation code after submission which you will use to create your job bank profile. |
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by zandora: 9:23am On Dec 17, 2015 |
Garykasparov: They want to know the date the account was opened to prevent people from obtaining loans for their application. Therefore if someone opens an account and submits their application soon after that would raise red flags with CIC. |
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by zandora: 9:36am On Dec 17, 2015 |
FunW: After submitting your EE profile you'll receive a message with an attached pdf. Open the pdf and you'll find a link that'll take you to job bank where you should register and hence get your EE profile linked. |
