Hello Siena,

Fantastic job you're doing on this forum. Your commitment to helping VW and Audi owners is legendary and as a new owner of a 2008 VW Passat V6 4Motion, I can't help but seek to make your acquaintance. I've tried contacting you via the forum's Send Email feature without success.

Could you please provide me with a means to reach you? I'm very interested in obtaining fluids and OEM parts for the car. I look forward to hearing from you.

Oi Siena. What's good man. You have any affection for the 2004 MKIV R32. That car has a couple a good bits but the ~ $15,000 price tag doesn't motivate me @ all. I'd rather get an E46 ///M3, what's your take?

Despite my affiliation with VAG, I would go with the BMW M3 over the VW R32.

The R32 is FWD in normal driving conditions, only switching to AWD when slip is detected at the front wheels. Even then, it's FWD biased. I'm also not a fan of the transverse engine layout.

The M3 on the other hand ticks all my boxes - RWD, tons of fun, longitudinally-mounted engine AND it's got the "cool factor" too.

I also just bought an Audi A6 1998 model. It has been a learning curve dealing with the dynamics of a Audi however i feel the need for expert hands in helping me resolve the car issues. Please can you recommend any good Audi mechanic in the Lekki - Ajah axis?

Many thanks.

Hello Siena, you are doing a wonderful job here. Please do keep it up.

I want to buy a 1997 Golf III Estate, Auto Transmission. On looking at the car closely, i discovered it has over types of PETROL engines and i am confused. some of them include 1.4L(60HP), 1.6L(Single Fuel Injection, 75HP), 1.6L(Multiple Fuel Injection, 100HP),1.8L(Single Fuel Injection, 90HP), 2.0L(115HP), {source: http://www.autoevolution.com/cars/volkswagen-golf-iii-5-doors-1992.html#aeng_volkswagen-golf-iii-3-doors-1992-20}. I really do not understand this technology of single and multiple fuel inject system and how it impacts on the car and its maintainability by our local mechanics. Also, does the Automatic Transmission on Golf III have know issues that will force me to go for manual?

The 1.4L seems a bit underpowered at just 60HP while the 1.6L(MFI, 100HP) seems good @ 100HP but the MFI. Some people even claim the carburetor type is better than injector but all Golf III are either SFI or MFI. You can even see Golf III converted to carburetor because as they say the Injector system in Golf III is problematic. i don't know if any of these is true.

Please i need your expect advice on which of the engines should i go for and the some explanations on these ambiguities. I want to make informed decision NOT just what everybody is saying on the street. I will be using our local mechanics and NOT Volkswagen Dealership.

Thanks in advance

Hi. Thanks for all your efforts on this thread.

Does 1999 Sharan 1.8T come with Automatic Transmission? I see Auto Tranny on 2.0L versions.

Does 1999 Sharan 1.8T and 2001 Sharan 1.8T share engine with any other volkswagen car?

Thank you so much

Please I noticed a lot of dead Audi in Osun state. This discouraged me from inquiring about reliable Audi cars. Is there a reasonable priced reliable Audi sedan suitable for use in Nigeria. In Addition I currently like the 2007 Audi A3 tdi special edition sport back. Is this car reliable. And how much should I estimate in Naira.

Hi and nice work guys. I intend switching from an 04 Accord to the Audi a6 2007 but still weighing my options and getting more knowledge and reviews. I drove past one recently and honestly, I had to stop to get a good look and I must admit I was really impressed with it's interior and ground presence. I've had the accord for 3years and so far it's been a good car but honestly, nothing exciting about it, just a plain and basic ride... My POV though.

Please add me on the WhatsApp group as well. 09090998861. Thanks.

Hi Siena, thanks for your excelent work in this thread and really hope that you can help me!

I bought this 96 B5 2.8 12v almost a year ago and still can't start the engine. This is the most desperate situation i've ever been on...

The car cranks and cranks and doesn't start, it has spark, it has pressure at the fuel rail, the fuel pump works just fine when the engine is cranking, had tested every sensor in the car and they are fine, all ECM grounds are fine, all connections, all relays, everything!!

These are the only codes vagcom is reading:

17801 P1393 Ignition Coil Power Output Stage #1 - Electrical Malfunction
17802 P1394 Ignition Coil Power Output Stage #2 - Electrical Malfunction
17803 P1395 Ignition Coil Power Output Stage #3 - Electrical Malfunction

But i'm getting good spark, the only thing that is not ok it's the injector pulses, each injector cycles twice and then just stops. If I put some starter fluid in the throttle body the engine runs for several seconds... So i'm only getting two injector ground pulses from the ECU, what can be possibly wrong??

Here's a list of everything that I replaced so far:

Camshaft Position Sensor
Engine Speed Sensor
Crankshaft Position Sensor
Ignition Coils
Sparkplugs and cables
Power Output Stage
3 different ECU's tested and working in other cars
Fuel pump
Fuel Pressure Regulator
Ignition Switch

I'm begging for help at this point!

PS: If it possible, please add me on the whatsapp group too 0584124568953

Hi Speec! Sorry to hear you're having problems with your B5. I posted possible scenarios to your issues in a response to your query on Audizine. I'll paste it here too:

The 12V is an oddball - a mix of Bosch and Hitachi.

It employs 2 sensors for flywheel monitoring - an RPM sender (that counts the 135 teeth on the ring gear) as well as a crank sensor (that uses a fixed pin on the back of the flywheel as a reference for crank position).

The crank sender reads a fixed pin on the back of the flywheel. This is the "firing point" sender. Once the engine is running, it will remain operational even if this is disconnected. It will store a base map, though the ECU gets really angry if you try revving beyond 4000 RPM. A broken firing point sender or flywheel pin will NOT allow the car to start with the key.

A broken crank sensor / firing pin is the one condition where an engine cranks with the key, but won't fire, but will fire if the car is bump started. I would try this first. If it does fire, then you're looking at a replacement flywheel. This is based upon the fact you've replaced the crank sensor, and the wiring and air gap are fine. Pull the crank sensor, and rotate the engine a bit at a time, taking care to look through the hole for the firing pin. Removing the spark plugs will make rotation easier. White paint on the crank pulley (or the starter gear after removing the RPM sender) will help. If you can't find the firing pin, replace the flywheel.

A tip:

Early flywheel firing pins were just that - a ferrous pin, like the shank of a 4mm drill bit protruding from the REAR of the flywheel.
Later flywheel firing pins were a welded on rectangular bit of steel, about 4mm wide on the SIDE of the flywheel, behind the ring gear (closest to the transmission).

The RPM sender is different. This is needed at ALL times. If it breaks in service, unlike the crank sensor, the engine will die. A broken tooth on the flywheel starter ring gear will cause a non-start situation. Rotate the engine a bit at a time with the RPM sender removed, and inspect the teeth. It'll take time, you may wish to mark your starting point with white paint, so you know when you've covered 360 degrees. If any teeth are broken or damaged in any other way, replace the flywheel.

Just be aware - whilst a 30V flywheel will physically fit a 12V engine, it will NOT work. Different triggering (60-2 windows on the tone ring). 30V flywheels are easier to get hold of, so I thought I'd give you a heads up.

Hello Siena,
My 2012 VW CC Lux recently had the esp error turn up. It had come on at different points earlier but always went off. This time around it didn't go off and shortly after, abs, traction control, airbags and parking brake lights all come on and haven't gone off since then.

My mech had said it was the abs wheel sensor for the rear right tyre. They swapped it out. Errors went out for a day and returned afterwards.

I ran a scan on the car with Vagcom yesterday. Attached is the scan result.

Please help take a look and advise on what I should be looking at.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Hello.... Please can I ask you a few questions on the cc? I intend getting one very soon.
Thanks
Re: The Audi And Volkswagen Issues Resolution Thread by WebSolutnX(m): 7:54pm On Feb 11, 2016
Hello Mr. Sienna,

I am not a very technical person - "motoritically". So I have decided to show pictures. I think the car is a Audi A6, 1994 model. 2.0 (don't even know what that means but it is written behind the boot).

The problem is that I bought this car around January and obviously the owner had been trying to fix this car. The car starts well and drives well. But ones the engine get hot or if it drives for 1km, the engine begins to misfire. and on high revs, the engine begins to shot.

I have changed nozzles, plugs, plug wires, What they call black switch, fuel pump, etc and nothing seems to work.

And just to add, their is always some hesitation before it picks fire. Sometimes, there is this hard jerking the car makes before it start refusing to fire even though the car is still on. During this time it makes this "blurbing" sound when you throttle the engine. And I will not forget to add that at this time, you begin to heard something that sounds like tapping or knocking sound inside the engine. But once it fires, everything is fine.

I will greatly appreciate any help I can get as I cannot imagine the car being converted to a carburettor engine.

Thanks Sienna in advance.
