Maybe d dulladino should sell the country to another President who can manage it. Becos it seems he doesn't know what to do.

It's because GEJ had the luck and the grace but he isn't a good manager. There's a boom whenever he's part of the system and that's what PMB need to ask from God.

Buhari is evil. Where ever you call the name of Buhari, failure is guaranteed. Few months into power, it has been one trouble or the other. Recently Buhari has killed Shiit muslem in their numbers, Buhari has generated the Biafra movement, a movement that was not mentioned for many years. The price of oil is on continous fall. Signals that Buhari will fall very shortly, if he retains this is Fulani, Islam and deep hate for the 5% voters and dislike for all remaining pdp members and the south south as a whole. Tufiakwa

The Ekpas are gradually losing it...now blaming Buhari for the fall in oil price and the expected effect on oil sales.

Instead of them to hide their heads in shame for supporting a man that wasted our oil revenue when prices were above $100 per barrel, they're here fooling themselves by expecting oil sales to not fall along with oil prices that are now less than $40 per barrel.

Shift and get some sense.

So are you now saying that Nigeria is doomed because "a man wasted our oil revenue"? Someone said we are running an autopilot kind of government. I think he's right.

Nigeria is in its current economic state because Jonathan wasted our oil revenue, oil price boom, and foreign reserves.

Take that to the bank.

Oil prices will never get to $100 per barrel except there is war or conflict in the Middle East. There are more suppliers now and change in consumer preference to alternative energy.

Our country, unfortunately is not an innovative one. It may suffer consequences in the future for not thinking properly and for wasting its reserves.

Buhari cannot cause a fall in oil prices, which caused the fall in the value of oil sales.

Jonathan wasted the high oil prices that we would have invested in diversifying our economy, thereby creating other sources of income e.g solid minerals, which we would have used to cushion these harder times.

Diversify which economy? Your present leaders are blind, recently they gave out money for the exploitation of oil in the north, you think they have brains? No..

Since they came into power, we have stop hearing from the farmers and you think they will Diversify the economy....

Crude oil is sold on the international market for less than $40 per barrel. Therefore it would be myopic to rely on that to run the economy considering the fact that we've lost most of our top customers.

What the buhari administration should do is to get our refineries running, and even build more. Yes you heard me right...!!! We need to build more refineries. The money recovered from the last administration should be enough to to do that.

Let's discard this mentality of looking for foreign buyers for our crude when the larger percentage of our population are crying daily for refined products.

Let's refine this crude here in Nigeria, consume it locally and sell some to Neighboring African countries.

I'm sure that the money the government would make from the local consumption of the refined crude oil products would surpass what we were likely to make if we sold it as raw crude. And it should be enough to finance the country's budget if managed properly.
You have spoken well and I hope the government can think in that direction but It seems you are not getting some things correctly.

1. Are you aware that a refinery costs in the region of $2.5b upward to build? Do we even know how much has been recovered by this government that you say it should be enough to build "more refineries"? Since oil prices have reduced but the cost of building a refinery won't reduce, won't it be a bad investment decision if the govt goes ahead to build new refineries when it won't make the expected profit margin?

As it is, government should hands off building new refineries but invite private investors to do that.

2. As it is, running a mono-economy (especially when its even crude oil) in this age will never be able to finance our budget.

If we reduce import and encourage local production, there'll be less need for foreign exchange. The worst of all is petroleum products importation and I believe Buhari will solve it before his 8 years elapses.

Is the government responsible for fall in oil prices to $35?

Is the government responsible for excess supply of oil in the international market thereby making it difficult to sell Nigerian crude?

The possible answer is in heavily industrialised agriculture, and effective exploitation of our solid mineral resources (including domestic processing for export). Oil is clearly not sustainable any longer.

Change indeed!!..My take is about our currency...what we have now at hand?. Is it constant depreciation of the value
of Naira or inflation without enough currency notes in circulation?. I don't get it all and I know little brains like PMB will remain
confused on how to handle this situation. Nigerians are indeed mess...

The reason our budget keeps climbing up is because most of our leaders are lazy and myopic. Its no longer news that some governors borrow to run their state. They keep borrowing and have very little to show for it.

We have solid minerals, arable lands, and a very large population that can be used to woo foreign investors yet what have our leaders done?

If we had leaders with vision, most states should be independent by now. Not gathering every month in Abuja to share proceedings from our crude.

The pressure on the center (FG) is so much. The center can't hold anymore. That's why now even our precious crude isn't even enough to finance our budget like you pointed out.

The essence of the Buhari government is to navigate this ship out of the troubled waters it has been put in by the PDP in recent times. This he has outlined by his emphasis on diversifying the economy, with focus on agriculture and solid minerals.

...and yes, he's doing something about it already.

We will never have the chance to earn $100 per barrel like the previous administrations did, so the time to put oil in the back burner is now.

I use to say this also but alas I was wrong.
Oil price keeps falling, do you still expect a govt that already has millions of oil barrels unsold in market to still budget Billions for another exploration works at the expense of prioritising other sectors?
Don't forget our president is also Minister for petroleum. That tells how much and highly this govt still thinks of oil.

Nigeria = Oil
