I don't see any compulsion that Christ must be celebrated the day he was born on earth. We should celebrate the most important birth ever everyday. Christmas is a day the whole world celebrates his birth together. I love Jesus.

They don't play on xmas day, only Boxing Day. It's kinda old English tradition that allows families to go to matches together, due to everyone being on holiday.

Usually the Boxing Day fixtures are arranged such that teams within close proximity plays each other.

The origin of Christmas is steeped in the opposing and contradictory notions of Christianity and paganism, of religion and irreligion, of piety and revelry. Christmas is celebrated to remember the birth of Jesus Christ but it is highly improbable that Jesus could have been born on December 25th-a date that falls in the thick of the winter season. So when was Jesus born?

I don't believe this point one bit. Even in the days of Moses, over 1000 years before Christ was born, there were already carpenters with expertise in woodwork. Remember that the Ark of Covenant was made of wood. The tabernacle built by Moses had a lot of wood work. Even in the days of David and Solomon, the temple of Solomon had a lot of wood work. What about the ships that sailed on the sea (Mediterranean Sea) which brought precious stones in abundance for Solomon? Weren't they made of wood.

10. Jesus Christ, son of Mary, was born in a cave, not in a wooden stable. Caves were used to keep animals in because of the intense heat. A large church is now built over the cave, and people can go down inside the cave. The carpenters of Jesus' day were really stone cutters. Wood was not used as widely as it is today. So whenever you see a Christmas nativity scene with a wooden stable that's the "American" version, not the Biblical one.
