This thread ought to be on frontpage,to enlighten people about the financial responsibilities to be prepared for in marriage.It is not enough to get married now because;
1.You want to start having kids early (They will drink akamu and salt when you don't prepare well enough for them).
2.My parents are on my neck.When bills start coming from left and right,I doubt if any relative would assist you.
This is an eye opener indeed.I am saving this thread to show my man when we see,so that he can buckle his trousers well and start calculating if he is ready for marriage.My aunt just gave birth and its always one heated conversation about money to another. The husband is earning less than 40k,even terms her requests as being too demanding(on top your own pikin o).He clearly doesn't know the baby needs disposables like diapers and wipes on a regular basis.Thank God my aunt has a job,she would have become one frustrated woman by now.

My wife just handed me this list. It's a list of what she wants to get for our soon-to-be-born daughter.

My only problem here is that she won't tell me how much each of those items cost, so I don't really know how much to give her.

Can an experienced lady/father in the house please tell me how much to give her for this long list of items? Thank you in advance.

It seems you're a new father, her list is ok for first baby, you've not started spending yet, when the baby arrives is when you will spend x3 of these, because you will start buying diapers almost every week or two weeks, baby milk is around 2500, and the baby can finish one tin under 3days. So get ready and be a man, it's your responsibility now!

I disagree with you, it is not as expensive as you paint it, there are things on the list that can be done without, also there are cheaper alternative, instead of hobbies diaper you could buy pampers or even nappy, clothes for babies are extremely cheap compared to adults, babies should be on exclusive breast feeding for at least one year, other things can be bought gradually, it is only when school fees is to be paid that is when the stress comes, I blame the op's wife for not listing the cost of the items, I even believe she wants to use it to make money for her self.
Now to you, don't run from marriage because of the cost of raising a child, if you don't have the finance after marriage wait for a year. Or do you want to buy your baby designer clothes?

My brother don't let anyone here deceive you, the list is not up to 50k even with the dollar crash, I have 4 nephews and we didn't spend up to 50k for the list there, the only expensive thing is the hospital bill, just pray it is not by c section, (Although most doctors will prefer it due to the profit they will get)

Thanks o. It's learning together. That thread taught me some stuff (especially on local baby food as i would have idiotically been buying Heinz and Cow and Gate Applesauce expensively) and truly we need encouragement (especially when your baby wakes up 5 times a night and clings and you start shaking and crying out of exhaustion, frustration and wanting to give up).
