it shall not be well with the so call international airline.
nonsense.

if you cnt deal with our naira, then Bleep off our airspace.

can we tender Naira to buy flight ticket in Uk/USA. will it be accepted.

yet you want us to accept your own currency in our country.

you see them talking about repatriatin fund to their country.

if you must repatriate fund back to you country, them go with Naira and exchange it in your country.

Naira must be strengthened.
outright ban on dollar/pound spending be impose.

paying for jet fuel in dollars here in nigeria should not be accepted, they should exchange their dollar to naira and pay the marketers in naira, this are tinz that will help strengthen our Naira.

we have accept all their rubbish over the years, but now it time we take our stand.

African should stand tall and face the devilish white people to their face, we should stop fueling white man economy at the detriment of our own.

Just like Zimbabwe adopt the spending of Chinese YEN as a ledger tender in their country just because of $40billion debt.

So many of u here are bereft of common sense. U guys lack basic understanding of issues. Even after reading the post, u came up with this garbage above? Can u show me anywhere in the post that the airlines were advocating that flight tickets be purchased in naira? The spokesperson was just complaining about the inability of the airlines to repatriate the Naira that they have accumulated in Nigeria due to the scarcity of foreign exchange, a resultant effect of the recent cbn's forex policy. He never asked that they be allowed to sell tickets in foreign exchange, rather, he asked that cbn should make foreign exchange available to the important sectors that derive the economy. Our leaders have made the attraction of foreign investments one of their main priorities. Now, tell me the foreign investor in his/her right senses that will invest in an economy that won't allow for repatriation of funds?

Our leaders are just wrecking the economy one day at a time. From the way they're a going, it won't take long before it is totally decimated. I believe they have ulterior motives.

I unfollowed all boards and became a ghost member for a year now.

The situation of the country made me like that.

But I noticed things aren't getting better

We lie that things would get better

But they aren't

I'm not supporting or aligning myself with the wailing wailers but I'm saying we need a better change.

Youth need active participation in politics.

This God forsaken men ruled this country at the early stage of their life and still come back to rule us at this old stage

We youth should ask ourselves when we would free ourselves from this slavery

We need the Revolution. Common or uncommon sense

We need revolution.

I believe in Nigeria ruled by Youths. I am a leader of tomorrow but when would 'tomorrow' happen?

Can you please tell us what you would have done differently. Dont tell me just diversify, you have to explain. The way it is, there is little or nothing this government can do about our situation. On the issue of foreign exchange, are we saying that CBN should hands off and let the exchange rate fall.

Nigeria should call the bluff of the so call international airlines! Our indigenous carriers should prepare to exploit the gap they are threatening to create, after all, they don't need to repatriate any profit overseas! This is an unusual period, so Nigerians must be patriotic enough to support the government to protect the naira till the situation improves and more dollars made available! Honestly, Nigerian economy is too attractive to be ignored by the so called foreign investors. We owe the future generation the patriotic duty to grow the economy, make sacrifices, moderate our taste for imported goods including eggs (!), patronize made in Nigeria goods, fight corruption to a standstill, avoid wasteful spendings, develop our tourism potentials at home, including world class hospitals, improve homeland security and our leaders at different levels should lead by example! With hardworking, patriotism, prayers and unity of purpose, Nigeria will rise again to take its pride of place in international affairs.

Foreign exchange...I have lil knowledge on economics but it seems stupid to me for cbn tO fix 196 as official rate and actually it's 260/270

Fuel... They need to come clean to nigerians, explain to us in a form of address where we can ask questions. They did town hall meeting with youth before election, election don to now, isn't there a need for that? stop the corrupt so called subsidy. Build refineries, state of the art.

Stop borrowing money. Stop borrowing Nigeria

Our own airline. We need it

Good move by the CBN governor.
The naira is on a free slide same to most currencies in africa including SA and Ghana.

The happiness of the whole Nigeria is better than the happiness of some few.
Imagine accepting dollar in Nigeria?when does dollar become the official currency.
If Nigeria is that lucrative, they should start accepting naira.

The likes of arik and other Nigeria airlines should be given more international flight permission

US$1 for your comment...You get brain.

Airline like BA no fit comot Naija with the huge revenue they are making exploiting Nigerians since 1900

It seems they have quickly forgotten how much we contribute to the GNPs of their various countries. They better close their guts because they will surely suffer more. Quote me!

In all honesty bruv, we don't contribute nada, with our 30 billion dollar annual budget (which is even a first), to say, make a comparison to the state of New York with a budget of 78.5billion dollars for the same period and you will understand that most times we Nigerians are filled with a sense of our own importance.

You got it twisted bro.it's the fault of the CBN gov it would be worthy of note that the Airlines are more than happy to bank their mo eye in Nigeria but what happens if they want to withdraw it in their country try?do Nigeria have the dollar equivalent as back up to remit it's equivalent abroad ?this is the problem. How do they pay taxes in their host countries?we are now spreading our problem to involve them and all they did was to involve in Biz.Someone here predicted that this will drive away investors see.if the likes of Air France. Lift hand a and km plus Delta vacate Nigeria the air fare will skyrocket. What we need is to devalue the Naira not these artificial and non sustainable approach the CBN gov is employing
And to see you got 7 likes n shares on your post shows how backward and ill informed our youths are.

Some people talk about our local airlines filling the gap, forgetting that these are Investments that takes time, imagine airlines having to make orders for planes years in advance (except we need them ordering most of those "3rd hand" flying caskets). I raised this issue of the airlines in a discussion with a friend, just last week's sunday and here we are today. All those ignorantly thinking all these news have nothing to do with them, will soon find out just how badly it affects them, when ticket prices get ridiculously expensive and planes flying out with half empty seats plus the available tickets can only be bought or paid for from abroad or you fly private One way or the other CBN's policies are serving one major putpose, i.e deeply isolating Nigeria economically from the rest of the world.

Bro you dnt get it, nobody is saying they shld not take their profit home,

Can a nigeria doing business in UK/US allow to accept Payment in Naira from UK/US citizens.

when the business get to Nigeria, he changes his dollar to Naira.

So the Airline can go back to their various country and change the Naira to their dollar/pound.

with that their will be demand for Naira in other country, and that will help strengthen our Naira,

simply because the demand for dollar is high in Nigeria that one of the major reason our naira is in a free fall.

I know of some places in Ikoyi, that shooping complex where they only accept dollar, for payment of Goods, we have same in Abuja too. it worrisome.

God! What is wrong with ur brain. When did naira become one of the international currency. Or u think Nigeria naira is the only country they do business. U where going about asking foreign investors to come and invest in Nigeria now they want to take their earnings back u are saying they should go with worthless naira. Was it naira that they came with to invest?

Y is dis soo hard for U 2 understand? ? The coy oporating in Nigeria use Naira not dollars does MTN pay their staff in Dollars? ? I repeat again there is no demand for pounds globally. I earn pounds when I was coming to Nigeria I wired my pounds to my 9ja bank account t and guess what I withdrew Naira not pounds so my friend your analogy is flawed.
