POS transactions are traceable and your bank should have a copy of such transactions(I guess). So it should be easier tracing the account holder of the crime syndicate.

Legalize guns in Nigeria.
Problem solved.

"I PLAY WITH GUNS, DON'T FUCCKK WITH ME"

I don't play with guns. I am serious about guns and their effectiveness in settling scores wink

Oh yeah and other general self defense purposes.

I was discussing with a friend yesterday and we were going on about the spate of crime in Lagos, lamenting that things are taking a turn for the worse.
Then he began to tell me his experience with robbers who paid a visit to his compound at Ikeja last week. According to him, they seem to get smarter and smarter. They visited them with POS machines and moved from flat to flat, demanding you make transactions into their account at gunpoint. Once the transaction pulls through, they take your cards, record your pin and they are off to the next flat.

In this way, they drained virtually all the cash in his 3 accounts over the weekend.
Have you been a victim of this mode of crime, come in and share your experience.

Tracing them is easy. The pos machine ll give them away. Also the security camera at the atm machine will give them away they go to withdraw.

. . . don't be quick to believe that the POS belongs to them robbers, they may have as well stolen it from any department store and using it just to verify the pin provided by the victim is correct so they can proceed with it to the nearest ATM. And please nobody should tell me about ATM cameras unless ofcourse they now see through face-caps and/or sun-shades

Guys the best way to reduce risk associated with having ATM Cards is to limit the amount of funds in them. Maintain two or more account and only keep money you need for immediate use on the account tied to the ATM. With online banking , quickteller , mobile money etc you can easily move funds to the account with ATM. #Crimealert

Very easy to catch them. Report to EFCC.... the bank account the transfer was made to has KYC details of the account signatories naa
The POS may be stolen. I don't think they're that dumb to open a POS in their names. According to the writeup, they only use the POS to validate that the pin is correct. TheI plan is to go to an ATM and do the actual withdrawal before authorities are notified.

HOAX!!!!!!.......who would be bold to rob this way in the era of BVN.....abi na cloud the money they go from POS and not account?

just one complaint from a customer about card theft, the beneficiary account is traced and the fictional criminals are traced and rounded up....QED

Modified : even if they decide to withdraw physically, that's even the easiest way to get caught, everywhere they withdraw with a card reported stolen, they leave a footprint plus a selfie by the ATM cams....theyll be caught in no time.

abeg,op think about another way to rob jare.

If this is true, then the thieves are dumb. It'a so easy to pick them up using POS
Re: Beware! New Mode Of Robbery In Lagos. by asiwaju87(m): 8:53am On Dec 28, 2015
I guess if things are put in proper place, it won't be long before they got caught cuz banks don't just issue POS machine like atm cards. It is always linked to a particular customer/business.
Re: Beware! New Mode Of Robbery In Lagos. by teemy(m): 8:54am On Dec 28, 2015
it is not uncommon for kidnappers to use a gullible person's account to receive ransom payments. the real owner of the POS/account might have a relative in captivity.

You're right. Will be pretty hard tracking them in that instance

If your card is stolen, call your banks customer care line to cancel it. Or send an email to your bank.

It should be quite easy tracing the thieves from the POS machine anyway.... That's if the authorities really want to apprehend them. With BVN details and the acct numbers that will show on the text message from your bank, they can definitely be caught.

This story seems false to me sha but if it is true then those thieves would make the "world's dumbest thieves of MAX tv" For goodness sakes who does this poo?

It's just like kidnappers asking for a ransom to be paid into an account!

If our banks are serious, they can be caught, electronic transactions are traceable. Or at least their account blocked and whoever comes to unblock it gets arrested.
And if the money is till in the account, it can be refunded to the owners.

A similar incident happened in where o live in Lagos in an estate. The estate had am atm machine. So the thieves went to a particular flat, asked the tenant to bring her atm, asked for the pin and told her they were going to withdraw money from the atm machine close by and should the pin not work, they were coming to kill her. They divide themselves, one group went to withdraw and the other group took the tenant hostage till the other group come back.

Guy,Na wah for you ooooo. You no even finish the story. Wetin Come happen naa!!!!!
