lol, the Nazis were basically an ideology that developed in the 2nd world war.
The German colonizers in Namibia, Tanzania and Cameroon were just as bad as the Nazis, committing countless Genocides of entire populations.

Never knew some of them are french words... I think it's easier to say "Merci" than "sans", but since it's words commonly used in English _ "sans" wins.

What of extraordinaire?.

So I received my own passe souvenir at the wedding after it felt like a deja vu to me, too many weddings maybe...checked the time, Ooops! I have a flight to catch and told my personal chauffeur I would have a rendezvous with him tomorrow at the popular restaurant vis a vis the bukateria and told him to choose any food he wants from the a la carte that the bill is on me, I told him adieu. He told me bon voyage. En route the airport, I remembered suddenly, Oh God, how can I go sans my passport , what a terrible faux pas I made, well C'est la vie grin

Nigeria is a messed up country... if you travel out you will meet many young people who could speak French and English fluently, even in the so called Francophone counties many people do speak and understand English, Frankly am really Jealous. The Government should make French a compulsory language to learn in our Education system because French is one of the international language spoken world wide, it offers great opportunity for integration, good job prospect and mutuality for speakers.

Not surprising.
English is actually at least 30% French.
Most French words entered English through the Norman (old French) invasion of England. If the French mainlanders hadn't invaded England, You and I in Nigeria would have probably sounded more like those cranky Germans and guttural Dutch people today.
Very true. Many people don't know that English is a Germanic language like all Scandinavian languages except Finnish. Other related languages are German and Dutch/Flemish.

French was official language of England for about 300 years, like civil servants in 9ja must know English now, English civil servants must know French back then.

Until the French Revolution, French was basically a Royal Court language in England and aspiring royal ladies-in-waiting had to do apprenticeship in the French Royal Court or a French ducal court to have any chance. French was also the international language of diplomacy and high culture.

Several Royal mottos in England remain in French. Dieu et mon droit (Royal Court of Justice), Honi soit qui mal y pense (Royal order of the Garter/UK's highest order of chilvary & World's oldest still existing knighthood) since 1348.

Lots of latin-origin words in English words came via French.

Very funny when you hear some Nigerians pronounce French words in English. Many French words used in English are not anglicised, that is, they remain pronounced as in France. cheesy
