@ IbXavier, Your right up is totally silly. VISA/MASTERSCARD etc are international cards and everyone has the right to spend their cash how they want and where they want. You need a little education and please stop writing until you upgrade yourself. |

Atmmachine:Quite respectfully, you haven't said anything other than bashing the OP. China and EU are heavy export -based economies thereby earning huge Forex so much that both of their currencies are vying to replace the US dollar as international currency amongst their other strengths. Just say the ban may affect your business interests, we will understand |

This post is just bullshit. Is it only schooling that ATMs are used for? What of thousands of Nigerian that depend legitimately on the internet for living? I am a web designer and this useless policy has greatly affected how we get paid tools for our work online. I intended adding mini importation by January, but now, it can't be done. And if going to schools abroad make us lose money, according to your lame and shallow analysis, then let the govt do something on regulating it, not to ban it outrightly. Do some of us even know we are in a digital age at all? |

Mcowubaba:Good points you made brother, but these are just part of the decays of the previous successive governments, but we must all be ready to make it work now. This is one of the numerous sacrifices we have to make as a people of common goal. This policy affected me personally alot no doubt, but if this what I need to endure in order to make the economy great again, then I have no choice than to go by it. |

Economics as a subject is based on a lot of theories.. These theories are churned out backed up by assumptions..nigeria is trying to practicalize a theory in economics which cant work because the assumptions underlying it is not practicable in nigeria! Cbn governor is assuming other things are being equal but it isnt.. Pls there are better ways to go with this naira dollar brouhaha than this! Nigeria had two oil booms and they r complaining of depleted foreign reserves! All the money that has been tiffed years past is enough to foot 2016 bugdet! Cbn! Bring back our atm cards! |

It's like you were sponsored by bihari. Yeah, some nice points though but must Nigerians outside suffer for the many sins of politicians who still walk about freely? The fall in naira is due to corruption which had kept eating deep until now and it's effects are just surfacing coupled with the fact that oil prices are dropping and leaving our dear Nigeria in a shameful state. |

According to the OP " This literally mean , we are giving out without receiving except from petrol which is our major source of income " This theory of yours is arrant nonsense. Are you aware that Nigeria received $21 billion dollars in remittances in 2015? http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/195633-remittance-nigerians-in-diaspora-sent-home-21-billion-in-2015.html |

Nice well researched write up, nevertheless, don't expect a standing ovation, because wailers don't need long term solutions so as not to deprive them of a reason to wail. |

As at 7th of December 2015, Naira to dollar stood at ₦250 to $1, which was the highest fall of Naira to Dollar in history (Reference 1). As at today 28th of December, 2015, Naira to dollar stands at ₦197 to $1 (Reference 2), this shows there is an improvement. The way people lie without the fear of God, tufiakwa. As of few minutes ago today (30/12/15), I was charged N274.+ to $1 on a transaction I did with my visa card. |

chinedu1nig:My brother, your analysis are very accurate I am an importer of goods from China, but I'm supporting this policy with all my heart. Anybody that is against this forex spending regulations is an economic saboteur. Most Nigerians are blind and unwise, some are educated illiterates. A ban was initially placed on some 40+ items( incuding rice and veg.oil) to access forex officially. Some ill informed Nigerians and economic saboteurs protested the ban. I even read somewhere that MAN ( Manufacturers Association of Nigeria) Lagos Chapter was against the ban, and I was like WTF. Do you know that the real beneficiaries of our lack of strict forex policy are the Indians and their Nigerian collaborators. Companies like Stallion group, Dana group, Church gate group, Promasidor, United foods. They import virtually all foods for our families. Something that can be easily sourced and processed here but they choose to import because of our stupidity and carelessness. They devised another means of getting forex by sending some Mallams ( like the one that has 850 atm cards at Kano airport) to go to Dubai and Mumbai and use naira debit cards to withdraw the fund that they couldn't source officially again. That is what prompted the ban on Naira debit card withdrawal. Nigeria will rise again. |

Atmmachine:Oga u copied some of your lines here online. You don't understand what you wrote here. What the op wrote was very on point. Ur own analysis was just theory in international trade, which explains the type and determinants of exchange rate regime. However, what is happening in the economy and CBN decision is a practical issue and a solution driven. We import more and demand for dollars is on the high side. Reducing the demand for dollars will stre |

mradjoy:I am not here to start pointing fingers @ any politician or party. I don't give a hoot abt dem... All I am saying is there are better ways of handling the Economy than all this harsh restrictions without any feasible alternative nd machinery... If not for the deutsche blocked account stuff German schs use, I would have been in a serious deep sh!t.. Ma younger bro is in Germany, he had to transfer some cash to me to use for some transactions, because there were restriction to my account in Nigeria.. But Canada, USA nd Uk don't have this blocked account principle for International students..nd this is making life very tuff for Nigerians... People having hop for transfers from dia parents/guardians in Nigeria, were disappointed... It is very terrible... Nigerian Economic team are so annoying |
