Seriously I respect the right of people to whatever religious practice they chose to profess. But if in a bid to practice religion, the peace and life of others is put at risk then it needs to be looked into. Its no biggie banning hijab. People need to be alive first to wear the hijab.
I seriously need to quote you and also ask Lalasticlala to give you Admin Privileges for One day because of this your comment.

President Muhammadu Buhari said in the ongoing presidential media chat that if bombings continue in the country, Hijab might be banned. Most of the bombings in the country are carried out by bombers clad in Hijab.

Answering questions on incessant terrorist attacks happening in the country, President Buhari said:

“When I say BokoHaram had been defeated technically, we have weakened capacity for conventional attacks. Banning Hijab is not an option, but if these attacks continues, Hijab has to be banned.”

The president’s verdict on hijab being banned has triggered twitter reactions from Nigerians.See tweets below....

Those who tried to paint PMB as an Islamic extremist before the election must feel really stupid after the Hijab ban statement #PMBMediaChat

— B. (@zebbook) December 30,2015

The President was straight forward about the Hijab response, also works better seeing as he’s a muslim.#PresidentialMediaChat

— Khaleesi!!! (@AbangMercy) December 30,2015

@MBuhari got be boxed into a corner here. What BAN the wearing of Hijab? In Northern #Nigeria ? UNTHINKABLE! #presidentialmediachat

— Kayode Ogundamisi (@ogundamisi) December 30,2015

I thought he was gonna dodge the hijab question. It’s a crazy angle. #PresidentialMediaChat

— Ediong (@Ediong) December 30,2015

I’m a liberal. I’ll defend Hijab as a legal choice, even while I take a social& Islamic view that it is a totally unnecessary piece of cloth

— maajid nawaz (@MaajidNawaz) December 30,2015

Even a decade and a half later debates about terrorism still end up flowing into discussions about hijab & other basically unrelated things.

I was really impressed by his performance yesterday especially on issues relating to insecurity and corruption.

As a Muslim, I will support the ban on full hijab to improve security. At least, ban it for six months in the first instance and let's see where it takes us.

Kudos Mr. President.
May Allah punish you for what you wrote,
you support the ban of hijab, subhanallah.
What Allah made compulsory, why cant you support the ban of the
military and paramilitary uniform that the book Haram used to abducted the chibok girls.

I'm a fulani muslim and I approve.

The hijab serves little purpose, if truth be told. The idea that it protects women from the leery eyes of lecherous men is a fallacy. Even if a woman is covered in 6 layers of kevlar men will still stare with our in-born xray vision. Hell, most times we even sit alone and conjure up images of luscious women with no visual prompting.

That it aids in bombing innocent people to smithereens is valid ground for prohibition.

Ban the hijab!

Banning of hijab is not the answer cause the terrorist will only creat other means like agbade, seniga cloth stay, back packs. Our security intellegence should be proactive in spy work.

I support the banning or at least reforming of the Hijab. It would really go a long way. Buhari said "If this continues the Hijab would be banned", But it is already continuing for a long time and is becoming unbearable. The Hijab has to go for now.
so u support it too? well since its your brother's decision there is no problem.

Which school of thought defined Hijab as that ? When your Lord revealed the Qur'an and ordered the Muslim women with the Hijab; tell me if what you typed up there was what was being referred to.
I'm a Muslim the Quran said believing women should cover their head and chest, the Quran did not mention burqa, niqaab...it was only mention in hadiths which can be related to the Arab culture.

It is a fact that most recent suicide bombers in the north are girls and boys wearing long hijab.

Shoulder-length hijab that covers the chest is not bad for a Muslim lady to wear.

How was it possible in Niger Rep?
Re: Buhari Says Hijab May Be Banned,Nigerians React On Twitter by Nobody: 9:37am On Dec 31, 2015
Niger republic has also banned hijab...

Bevista:
Considering the dimension of attacks deployed by BH in concealing bombs under hijab, it is surprising that it has not been banned already.
---
France banned the damn thing and heavens did not fall. It didn't make the Muslims there any less religious. I even hear it is banned in Chad.
---
This should be a no-brainer decision for political and religious leaders of the north. They should be pragmatic. Desperate circumstances require desperate measures!

I think putting a total ban on Hijab is not the solution they can only reform the use of Hijab cos if they should ban Hijab they 'll also have to ban other thing BH uses to aid their senseles campaign....such as back pack, waist bag, mobile phones etc

FG must not only ban the use of hijab , i think all what the BH is using shud be ban e.g soldier uniform, mobile phone, cars, gun, even money(cos dey used money to buy the devices) e.t.c. WHY ONLY HIJAB
#useyourbrain
because - Civilians r not permitted to wear camouflage. mobile coverage had been/will still be withdrawn when necessary. The constitution has not granted Law-abiding citizens privilege to carry guns and claim its their right.

"If Hijab ban must be considered, then the government has to also ban use of vehicles, hand bags, cell phones, motocycle and suits because more evils have been perpetuated through them. It's totally illogical to attach Boko Haram attacks to a dress code or pattern. Our Hijab is a garment of honour; it is an apparel of modesty and an outfit commanded to be worn by Allah."

Remember Boko haram uses cellphone to detonates bombs, cars to carry the explosive and so on.

Firstly, I would like to tell you that lying against Allaah is a major sin that takes one out of Islaam. I understand we all hold different opinions, but lying on Allaah or the Qur'an while trying to butress your point is tantamount to disbelieve.

Having said that, where in the Qur'an was it stated that the Hijab is restricted to head and chest ?

Allaah says in Surah Al-Ahzab, Verse 59:

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ قُل لِّأَزْوَاجِكَ وَبَنَاتِكَ وَنِسَاءِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ يُدْنِينَ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِن جَلَابِيبِهِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ أَدْنَىٰ أَن يُعْرَفْنَ فَلَا يُؤْذَيْنَ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا

O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters, and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad): that is most convenient, that they should be known (as such) and not molested. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

The key word being Jalbaab.

tintingz:
It is a fact that most recent suicide bombers in the north are girls and boys wearing long hijab.
I believe you saw the picture of the little girl that had explosives strapped to her abdomen and it was concealed with the blouse she wore.

Educate me, how do you propose we tackle that ? Ban the wearing blouse as well ?

tintingz:
Shoulder-length hijab that covers the chest is not bad for a Muslim lady to wear.
If you are cool with the women in your life wearing such, others aren't. No one person has the right to legislate a matter that has already been decided by the Lord from above the Seven Heavens.

Had to quote you"wonderful"
Souljaboi1:
If BH changes tactics and start employing the use of men wearing robes/Agbada, should that also be banned.

If that is banned and they employ the use of back-packs, do we also ban that ?

You cited France's ban on the hijab, did that save them from the Paris attack ?

As a man on ground, I see thing for what they are.

This group have sleeper cells in various cities; break their line of communication, clamps down on their sponsors and their trade route to the Sahara desert, then let the Intelligence guys infiltrate their ranks.

If we keep hammering on Hijab ban cause it aids their attacks, then it would also follow that any item or machinery that aids them too should also be banned.
