Hello guys, happy new year.

Reporting live from Regina.
Journey was smooth but stressful. Flew Ethiopian airline from Abuja. Had four hrs layover in Addis ababa, 1hr in Dublin, about 8hrs in Toronto angry

Had no problems passing through customs and immigration in Abuja. They were very professional shocked. They were smiling and wished me a great trip.

No problems with immigration and customs in Toronto. Just declare the kind of food you are carrying in the customs card.
Immigration asked for school fees receipt but I didnt have. So i showed her the customer duplicate copy of the form A I used in making transfer. Told her the funds have not arrived the school yet.

Goodluck to everybody waiting for their visas and safe journey to those travelling.

Cheers

Edited:

If you already have an adrress in canada of where you will be staying ( including a hotel address) you can get your SIN at the airport

4. If I am asked why I chose to do part time, what will be an ideal response/reply from me? Should I tell the VO, that its to enable me hustle/work.?
....

Hello I dont think international students are allowed to study part time in Canada. I tried searching for information on whether international students wishing to study part time will be granted study permit but no concrete info. You will have to do more research to confirm if that is possible. (cc thesoj siga )

But please note that in any case, international students studying part time are not allowed to work either on or off campus

Simply contact where you did the upfront medical to resend your medicals. Contact the CIC and tell them that you did an upfront medical (quote the Number on the medicals Slip). Send an Email to them.

I Learnt on this trend that VO dont give Visa for part time studies. i have a bachelor degree in Nursing. am applying to CONESTOGA COLLEGE. Graduate Certificate in Critical and Critical Care Nursing. NOTE; The course is only available in part time for international student. The such course in full time for international student What should i do in this case? Should i go ahead or apply to another school.

Again, is Graduate certificate same thing as Post graduate diploma?

Pls am filling forms for SOWP..
A quick question.. I Am also applying for my 2 kids all below 6 years..

Am I to fill a separate form for them or just ticking the family ties form and ticking "following me to Canada" is that OK? Then I include their passports?

Thanks in anticipation..

Happy new year people..

Helo, pls the gurus in the house I need your advice, i'm a graduate of accounting in Nija and I want to do my PGD in accounting or business administration in canada. I already found out 2 colleges that are not too expensive where I can do it selkirk college or northern light college both in BC. but I don't know which one to choose because I like the PGD in accounting in selkirk college which is also gd for visa and there are plenty Nigerian there, but at the same time I learnt 4rm this thread that it is located in a small village there are little or no part time jobs for student. on the other hand NLC(northern light college) I like their PGD business administration, it is cheaper and it looks like there are better job opportunities there but i'm not sure of Nigerian students there cos I really want a place where I will meet my pple. But in all dis info I don't have direct contact I got everything from the website. Pls I need the help of those who have any info on both colleges to advise me, cos I also want to go to a place where I can get a part time job since I intend to support myself.

If u are so passionate abt d course u shld refine ur search for schools dat offer it full time to international students, if nt u go for an optional course dat is full time den wen u get der u can switch courses.
Graduate cert is nt d same tin as PGD.
A graduate certificate(GradCert, GCert, GradC) is a higher education qualification at the same level as a bachelor's degree but more limited in scope, taking less time to complete - this might be a year, or as little as one term or semester.
A postgraduate diploma on the other hand (PGDip, PgDip, PG Dip., PGD, PgD, PDE) is a postgraduate qualification awarded typically after a bachelor's degree.

My School resumes May, I have already gotten my TRV but have no intention going to that school, I wanna switch, I wanna go to a different school. How do I tackle d immigration and customs at the POE, interms of school fees receipt, paying for this school will amount to paying double school fees. Or how do I show proof of financial strength Suggestions needed!!!

Hello It is not compulsory you show school fees receipt (a nairalander travelling with me didnt show it). I only showed the form A because she specifically asked me for it. What you need to show is "proof that you have enough money to support yourself during your stay in Canada"
For that I think bank statements will suffice. I had my bank statements with me. I would have shown that if she had asked.

Cheers

Paradox12:
As a follow up to my previous post, here is the transcript of my application;

Applied online - Nov 3rd,
Biometrics - Nov 3rd
Medicals invite - Nov 27
Medical done - Dec 1st
Medical passed - Dec 7th
passport request - Dec 18.
Passport submitted - Dec 18
Passport pickup notification - Dec 23
Approved Passport retrieved - Dec 29.

Only after retrieving my passport that my CIC account got updated (closed and approved)

Documents:
CIC forms
Police clearance
Birth cert
Recommendation letter from head of department.
Personal statement aka SOP
Conditional offer letter
Passport data page and Visa page

That was all of my personal docs submitted (there were no certificates, transcripts etc).

Financial Doc:
Sponsor 1 - mum, sponsorship letter
soa 10m.
Letter of promotion.
A separate contract offer.
No payslip or CAC doc included

Sponsor 2 - brother, sponsorship letter
soa not included (had just 250k balance though)
Letter of promotion
Payslip for the year starting from Jan 2015.

About 4 landed doc between both.

That was every doc submitted,,, however after reading a couple of pages on here, I wished I submitted more and thought my forwarded documents wasn't sufficient to obtain a TRV.

Nonetheless I have learned alot from here and felt equipped enough to reapply if need be; luckily, there won't be any need for that.

For those awaiting a response, I wish you luck.
hello! Most one have a toefl or gec or those language test included when submitting?

Have you thought of something simple like going to the university website and LOOKING?
By the way it is Newfoundland. (unless you mean somewhere else)

International students http://www.mun.ca/international/Prospective_Students/
Geology http://www.mun.ca/become/graduate/programs/easc.php
If you can't do that how will you complete your study?

York university is 40mins away from me.. You can apply for student visa from the States.. If you going for undergrad, post grad or msc, your study permit will surely state you eligible to work. Very best you'd be allowed

Newbie here!!

I'm considering relocating to Canada from the U.S for an advanced degree. I schooled and now work in the U.S., but its time to take a leap of faith and a lil challenge for something new. I'm not sure where to start with this process, but I'll try to read backwards and google-it-out.
1. Can I get a students visa over here or do I need to interview in Nigeria?
2. Is it TRV->Student permit or can I work towards them simultaneously?

Does anyone have experience with;
York University
Wilfrid Laurier University
University of Windsor
