So you don't want a trial.

Have you heard of innocent till proven guilty?

We have the judiciary for a reason. Tell your Buhari to face his executive functions and stop abusing the institutions of Justice.

The illiterate should read the constitution and averse himself of his limitations.

I dont think is right for a President to flaunt court orders... They said Gej was a monster but he always allowed the court orders to stand.. Dasuki is not a saint so are all others calling him a thief...

akinzeb:
•President’s no-release stand splits lawyers

By Chris Iwarah

Former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki, yesterday pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to allow him enjoy the bail granted him by the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Meanwhile, lawyers yesterday took divergent positions on Buhari’s explanation of the continued detention of former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki and pro-Biafra agitator, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu despite different court orders admitting them to bail.

Buhari said during his first presidential media chat on Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) on Wednesday that Dasuki and Kanu could not be released because they would jump bail, describing the charges against them as serious.

Speaking with Daily Sun on the development yesterday, counsel to Dasuki, Alhaji Ahmed Raji (SAN), said: “I would want to appeal to Mr. President to please allow my client to enjoy the bail that was granted to him. I want to beg him in the name of God. I cannot join words with the president. I have the greatest respect for him, both in his official and personal capacities. My appeal is just that I am begging him in the name of God to allow my client to enjoy his bail.”

But former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Prince Lanke Odogiyan said Buhari’s stand was a manifestation of dictatorship.
The president’s refusal to release Dasuki and Kanu, he warned, was a slide into lawlessness. He urged the NBA, human rights organisations and other non-governmental groups to call the president to order to prevent the nation from sliding into anarchy.

His words: “It’s disobedience of court order and if it’s not checked, it can lead to consequences beyond our imaginations. It’s a manifestation of dictatorial tendencies and it should not be encouraged. The president must be advised by his legal handlers. If he is not satisfied with an order of court, the appropriate thing to do is to appeal. But he can’t disobey it, he can’t ignore it.

“The Nigerian Bar Association, NGOs and human rights bodies will speak with one voice to call Mr. President to order. We have to be careful so that we don’t slide into anarchy. No government should pick and choose what orders to obey.”

Chief Ladi Rotimi-Williams (SAN), however, said the president was acting in the overall interest of the nation.
“The president is at a vantage point to know what is good for the nation at any given time. Sambo Dasuki is a very powerful man and you don’t take such powerful men lightly.

“I am sure he (Buhari) has placed the interest of the nation over and above the interest of Sambo Dasuki, ditto for Kanu. He is not doing so because he doesn’t like their faces.”
The interest of the nation overrides everything else.”

President of the African Bar Association, Mr. Hannibal Uwaifo also insisted that Buhari was on the right path.
He said it was sentimental to claim that Buhari was the one responsible for the continued detention of Dasuki and Kanu. The detainees, he said, were contending with the consequences of infringing the nation’s laws.

Former Chairman of the Ikeja branch of NBA, Mr. Monday Ubani, however, said Buhari’s comments might have been misunderstood.
He said: “Whatever the president has said, he can’t play the roles of the legislature, executive, and the judiciary. The judiciary will certainly handle the cases that are before it. The president can only execute what the judiciary has said. So, I don’t want whatever the president has said to be taken out of proportion.

What I understand the president to be saying actually, which he may not have put in a way that every person would understand, is that we can’t allow a system where prominent people alleged to have committed heinous crimes are given all manner of luxuries after they have put a lot of people in problem and they can’t stay here and answer the charges; they now want to go abroad for treatment while this same thing is not extended to the poor.”

I won't say whatever he did, he didn't do it right but he PMB wants to jail those convicted of crimes then what holding him back?

In as much as I do not support APC, I still find no problem with the stand of PMB. The consequences of Dasuki's action is one of the reasons why BH have persisted and grew.
If anyone thinks PMB was wrong, kindly enlighten me on what reasonable options he should explore.

This is why we are where we are today. Every sector is corrupt and the good man with good intention is the bad leader, has we youths are prescribing him.

You want a suspect with 2.1billion dollars loot be released on bail, you want to use your atm abroad, the country with 1.1% unemployment rate and you don't want him to borrow. Where would he get money, heaven or moon huh? I think we are not ready for the anticipated change, we still want things be done in the old ways with positive changes.

If the man his released on bail, you are the same people that will mock the ''bad leader'' or blame the judiciary if he absconds. I am not against his release,we all know our country, the moment he's released, the case will be in court for donkey years. Why can't we support the bad leader has we did to the ''good leader''.

Nigerian youths, we should be supporting this administration to succeed. Remember, if anything happens, they (the rich) would board the next plane. We will face the consequence.

Lets stop all these attitude of hatred in this new year for a better tomorrow.

God bless Nigeria..!
My brother, you made a whole lot of sense. Haters can keep hating, it is allowed.

Even though I don't support d president flouting court orders....diz dasuki's case requires him to use every power necessary to deal wit him squarely...he is d PRESIDENT...our judiciary is weak on corruption n criminal cases against d RICH but strong against d POOR...d@s why a tough president is needed to deal wit d corrupt high profile persons....if we're to kip on going d court way in diz naija, we all no nothing will be achieved due to injunctions, indefinite adjournments, human rite abuse etc and d case dies a natural death...well if d efcc can't produce a strong case...den breaking d cases into pieces will ensure indefinite detention which is also tantamount to jail sentence....let's support d president n let him fite corruption to a stand still and he can ONLY do d@ wit a tough choice and order...d corruption in naija is beyond comprehension...we're where we are today due to diz cancer of corruption...if not Nigeria should be among d world super powers....

Na oversabi dey worry some Nigerians talking about nonsense rule of law. Rule of Law does not apply to the issue of Dasuki. In a country like China, this guy would have been a gonner ever since. I am quite sure if you wailing wailers of Dasukis bail had a close relative in the BH killings, yall would have asked for his head. What I see my president doing is called executive orders, it is legal in all Democratically governed country.

Re: Arms Scam: Dasuki Begs Buhari - The Sun by Ndolarr: 12:32pm On Jan 01, 2016
I get upset when facts are twisted to serve selfish interest! Dasuki is being held on an entirely different matter, so the FGN has not violated any court order! I wish the judiciary will cooperate with Buhari to rescue this nation from the destructive effects of corruption! Some members of the bench are PDP judges and have been giving rulings that are satanic, abusive and illogical in most of the corruption trials they are handling. How can Dasuki be granted bail and eventually jump bail to now fight back from outside with massive looted resources at his disposal? We are in a state of emergency, so certain privildges must be set aside to deal with the bad situation. All I know is that families of the unfortunate soldiers that died as a result of poor military equipment occasioned by the $2.1 billion arms scam allegedly perpetrated by Dasuki will never agree to his bail plea! This much I'm sure of!
Re: Arms Scam: Dasuki Begs Buhari - The Sun by imoikoko: 12:32pm On Jan 01, 2016
Some people just lack the ability to think. As for all these hungry lawyers who are giving useless and rent-seeking opinions, if there is any lawyer who is willing to take the place of Dasuki and accept to take up all charges upon himself if/when Dasuki jumps bail, let him come and stand as surety for him. How anyone could even be contemplating bail for these guys is beyond me. They should be facing treason charges and I don't think there is bail for that. There are soldiers in jail facing possible death sentences because these guys diverted the funds that were meant to equip them. Has anyone thought that this could have been enough reason for coup or mutiny. Could Dasuki have been financing the Boko Haram people in order to promote insecurity in the land so as to justify the request for extra funds? If this guy is allowed to walk free, can he not reconnect with his contacts to destabilise this present government? Could this his incarceration be linked to the reduction of Boko Haram activities as their financier is inaccessible? Thinking back, when Dasuki requested for six weeks postponement before last election and there was a reduction, was he the puppet master simply directing the drama? So many questions. But one thing I am sure of, no person that stole/misappropriated trillions of naira deserves any bail because even our constitution did not envisage this type of looting and plundering. The Chinese kill such people because they equate them to a disease which cannot be allowed to spread as they will infect others and corrupt the system. They should be treated worse than we did Ebola, after all how many people died from Ebola and how many lives have these people terminated by vicarious consequences of their action. Enough said.
Re: Arms Scam: Dasuki Begs Buhari - The Sun by dinggle: 12:37pm On Jan 01, 2016
This is the problem with Nigeria. How can any court grant Dasuki or Kanu bail??
Lets start with Dasuki.....
-Did the court put into consideration the amount of money involved and how it could have saved lives if applied accordingly?
-Did the court put into consideration how many Nigeria's finest soldiers would still be alive if the weapons required to fight the war had been bought by Dasuki?
-Did the court put into consideration how many wives of Nigerian soldiers would never be the same just because their husbands decided joined the army with the sole purpose of defending the nation.
-Did the court put into consideration how many children of the dead soldiers would be forever traumatized?
-Did the court put into consideration what wives of the soldiers would go through in the hands of in-laws who would want to oppress them because their children are not grown??
-Did the court put into consideration how many residence of Maiduguri would have been saved from early death if the military had the resource to fight the war?
-The most painful one, why were soldiers who refused to fight without weapons sentence to death?? what did Dasuki do to ensure they were not sentenced in the first place?.........knowing that govt sent them on a death sentence to fight boko haram without weapons?
-Why didnt Dasuki's wife speak out??
-Where were the lawyers who are speaking today when Nigerian soldiers were slaughtered by Boko Haram?

Firstly, I'm not necessarily an opposition.
But you must perforce acknowledge that the rule of law takes precedence. And hence, everyone is subject to the law in present day democracy.
Do you justify a breach in the law, simply Cuz an individual is a suspected or alleged criminal.
I'd like you to justify his detention despite court order.
I am not saying dasuki is innocent. I'm rather saying that the dictatorial tendencies of a leader should not be employed in breaching the law.
Let him be charged to court and that should follow due process.
Cheers.

Is that enough reason to trample on the judiciary??
Why does the three arms of government exist??
The judiciary are to enforce the laws made by the legislative.
It is never a reason to go against court orders.
