menacetosociety:No, it is not. The problem is that those in charge of religious practices like imams and pastors have abused it. So blame it on the people not religion per se |

modath:It's your money; spend it as wisely as you can. Last year, the issue of first fruits came up and I didn't support it at all....All those crap belongs in the Jewish religion but someone we've gullible allowed ourselves to be scammed in the name of religion. I give to the needy not the greedy........ My dear, we won't stop questioning these issues. I'm done with mindless religion. |

I wonder what would happen to religion if we ever discovered intelligent life on mars or jupiter? |

erusen:No, you must be able to defend the concept 1st before talking about the practices. You must be able to defend why being a lawyer is a good thing before talking about how to be a lawyer. And that is the problem with religion most ptactitioners cant defend it without resirting to scriptures. it's a classic case of brainwashing. |

I concur with the Prof. Niyi The bible says "the blessings of God maketh rich and added no sorrow" but in Nigeria that scripture seems not to be true because of our collective ineptitude in rational and critical thinking. God (in Isaiah) even called us to sovereign conference to "reason together", how many Nigerians turn up? We as a people detest questions, especially, that touches our belief system |

You can speak as much as you want against religion so long you don't deny the righteousness that comes with believing in Christ's atoning work on the cross. Christianity is not religion but faith in Christ. |

dikeigbo2:I have more than 10years training as a scientist, it doesn't change my position about God. The root of this article is atheism and this is evident in his submission about miracles. That said, anyone can make a claim but to be regarded as a statement of fact, you have to give empirical backing, where this is not, the opinion is subjective at best. That religion has a eroded the logical reasoning of Nigerians is a serious claim, irrespective of our personal opinions(which cant be same), you have to give verifiable empirical facts to support that assertion. |

The prof have some element of truth in what he said. Religion only permits what services it. Christians are too lazy to seek God on their own privately and discover his ways, they run after signs and wonders and Keep getting bamboozled in the process by fake prophets and pastors. Apostle Paul warned against this in one his epistles to the early churches, and if go and study them today, you will think that Paul just wrote the letter to our modern churches recently. I can't allow someone tell me about God to the point that am just a spectator of the whole debacle, I want to also tell people about God too in spirit and in truth and that's why my bible is alive to guide me when it comes to the deep things of God through the help of the holy spirit. Know God for yourself and have a personal relationship with him, that's the hallmark of a true Christian. |

NORAD:Lol. . .It is always beneficial to read and apply knowledge. There is no point in educating oneself if one will still be following the norm. Back in the day, the church burned anyone at the stake for even suggesting that the earth was round. Same with curing most diseases. It was termed witchcraft. Later, it was said that it was impossible to visit the stars. People are now living in space stations, up there and are now taking applications from people who would want to be the first to go to mars and live there forever. It is a one way trip. This galaxy is huge bro's. As history has told us countless times, nothing is impossible where science is involved. It is only in Nigeria that it is impossible because we are still living in the pre caveman era. |

Niyeal:The fullness of God dosent't come by giving tithe to God or through some religious doctrines and laws, the fullness of God comes from knowing who God is and allowing Christ to dwell in your heart by faith, rooted in and grounded in love. Your tithe without knowing who God is by revelation which the holy spirit gives profiteth you absolutely nothing. |

lookandlaff:u didnt answer my question.i think i like reading the bible it boost the quality of my life, makes me a better, gives me morals.so when it comes to defend christainity esspecially the one in niger i cannot, becus it is has destroyed our lives why, becus the large population are illetrates, that my dear is the governments fault.nigeria religion are prying on illetrates to get rich that should be our topic.well the bible is their standard for the lives,so they cant do without it.but i cant call brainwashing becus that is what oxfold dictionary define as faith.the evidence of this not seen |

erusen:I beleive I did, i said no. In anything one does one must know why he does it and you dont have to prove yourself to another man especially on the issue of faith, it's a personal thing. I like the reasons you gave....because it works for you. If it boosts the quality of your life then that's a valid reason. What I was saying id that a lot of people dont even know why they do what they do and when you question their religion they resort to quoting scripture |
