It is no more news that $2.1b that was meant for arms was hugely diverted to fund the PDP campaigns during the last general elections in the country. According to the former National security adviser to the former president Goodluck Jonathan he said that the money was approved by Mr. President before being shared among the beneficiaries and for over two months now the former commander in chief of the Nigeria arm forces has not made any official statement regarding one of the biggest and bloodiest scandal in Nigeria history in which he is the focal point. Although this popular scam is christened “Dasukigate” in the media but one wonder if it should be aptly so since he was only playing out a script that was already written by his former boss Jonathan.

Between 2014 and earlier 2015 the North east was a war zone where Bokoharam insurgent brazenly sized over several LGA s, killed and maimed helpless civilians, declared their caliphate in most of the conquered areas and even extended their influence and terror to neigbouring countries of Cameroon, Chad and Niger. This coincided with the time when several billions both approved and unapproved by the national assembly were allotted for security by the former president in order to salvage the unwantory blood-letting in the NE region as well as the border towns of the neigbouring countries. These monies instead of being used for its intended purpose were hugely diverted and prioritized for the 2015 general elections to the detriment of precious lives that aught to have been saved.

Nigerian solders have to confront the Bokoharam insurgent with inferior war gadget resulting to killings of some of its finest solders which prompted attendant insubordination and mutiny. Most of the solders were court marshaled and condemned to death as a result of refusing to fight the insurgent despite citing lack of weapon as a major reason for their actions. Within this period thousands of solders and civilians lost their lives, millions of civilians were displaced and commercial activities were at a stand still no thanks to the diversion and sharing of the $2.1b blood money___the biggest political holocaust of our time! The arms scandal is indeed beyond looting or money laundering. It is a crime against Humanity for not only does it involve heartless and irresponsible diversion of billions when the country was experiencing economic hardship but also deliberately allowing thousands of people to die in cold blood in addition to Subjecting displaced millions to untold hardship.

The big question is between the former NSA and his former boss who actually call the tune?. If it were to be the former then the former president is starkly oblivious and clueless of the happenings in his government. However, this scenario is obviously the unlikeliest for a scam of such proportion that involved billions meant for arms been shared among politicians and other frivolities that will enhance the re-election of the incumbent. The then incumbent cannot feign ignorant of this whole set up even a kindergating president cannot be excused for a scandal of such catastrophic proportion. It behooves a descending mind to surmise that the former president Jonathan is the central act of this whole scam. He approves monies and issue directives to his employee Dasuki on the sharing formula which the later faithfully and diligently executed. Therefore, it make more sense to christened this bloody scandal as “Jonathangate”
