What Is Happening To Nairaland "Jobs/vacancies" Section? by Pinkybush: 6:30am On Jan 04, 2016
Since the assumption of the new administration in Nigeria, Nairaland Jobs/Vacancies section seems to die a natural dead.
Before now, we used to see a lot of job opportunities on front page from different companies recruiting. A lot of nairalanders got their dream jobs through this medium, but today the reverse is the case.
The question now is, are the Mods in Nairaland "Jobs/Vacancies" section no more moving job vacancies to the front page? who should be blame , the Mods or the new administration?

@Mod no offense intended, just asking.

Maybe Nigerians aren't interested in getting Jobs anymore. They all want to sit at Home and get Latest Updates on Olamide and DonJazzy Beef, Or Profer advice to a Guy that thinks his Girl is Cheating on Him, Hence, the Persistent Inundation of the Front Page with such stories

I will be probably banned for this.

Nairaland is now going to the dogs, the owner has the audience and now he is running a celebrity forum.

It is not only in job section, so many helpful posts are overlooked but once it is about celebrity or by certain users it makes Frontpage.

The supermod is not helping matters, I keep mentioning him for great post but they don't look at them.

We have to take it like that.

its like you don't know how things work on nairaland?.....firstly, mods don't move topics to FP ,that's supermods job....what mods do is to suggest topics and lobby the supermods,so stop blaming the mods if your topics fail to reach FP,it aint in their power!!!!!!!!.....also I see useless topics on FP ,I guess they need traffic, that's why mumu celebrity topics hit FP regularly and political topics, that's what our naive youths cherish, blame our youths not nairaland, seun is first of all a businessman,he needs the traffic to make money, before any other thing.just keep on checking jobs and vacancies section, what will be will be.

If am not being straight forward, I think the problem is from the administration as there are no companies recruiting. The existing ones are even sacking and some companies folding up.

Failure of moderators to 'seive' Fake jobs posts & its lack of proper screening for recruiters who post here to waste the little or non-available recources of job-seekers to attend facade interviews with no job really available for them have really put many people off the boring boad. The recruiting outlets/touts/agents have hijacked NL to criminally acquire people's data.

Plus fundamental failure of the moderators to moderate the rampart & reckless mis-placement of post. I read most of the celebrity/romance/others post on politics page. Start to notice from now, those kids would carelessly & ignorantly post their 'interested' posts on political page that why we read plenty of political-childish comments on strategic & sensitive national political issues. You can imagine kids running to book a page as a first to comment without even thinking of what to say! That is when u see somebody putting just 'full stop' for his comment. We are not playing here. Political experts are watching and reading silently. If you come to contest for any post in future, don't be shocked when you are confronted with your 'silly' comment by then you can't say 'I was only joking' especially those that can't think outside the box of tribe and ethnicity. When asked of most civilised you say is ur region and the same person comes to complain of maginalisation of the same region.

the reason why I joined nairaland is because of the vast job/vacancies being advertised here, and the comments that follows such post. What is even special here that I cannot get else where, if not for Job, vacancy mtcheewwww. MODs make una bet get sense.

In the olden days, threads didn't need to get to the FP to make an impact. In fact, I used to wonder why guys were crazy about threads getting there 'cos quality threads get/got watered once there.

Nairaland is a forum; different segments exist to suit your interests. Some segments have quality posts and matured contributors making for an interesting read. The fallacy of the front page is that you get a 'headline' feeling which is what guests view.

I do not think the mods need to push posts to FP for the jobs section to thrive. The Mods do not publish adverts; companies do. So, if the OP says "since the assumption of the new administration in Nigeria", he's invariably telling us that companies have been weighing their options since PMB resumed hence, the reduced number of adverts.

There are a lot of swindlers here who need to get serious jobs but ironically post 'job' adverts here; you need to separate the wheat from the chaff.

We can't just move any topic from job vacancies to home page, before such topics are moved, they have to be real and worth it... I do check the section, but hardly get any good vacancy threads, if you come across any good one, genuine, you can always notify the moderators and it would be featured... We do feature good and genuine ones on home page when we see any..

The gods have spoken.

@topic,it will be unfair to move topics from just one section to FP always ,me I just go the sections that interest me.

When it's comes to genuineness of job advertisements, I think it hard at times to know with accuracy which is which. Some job adverts that are screened out of FP at times are usually very genuine, but I can blame the mods because I think he is trying to do due diligence. What I will advice job seekers who are serious about the job of seeking jobs is to always visit the job/vacancies section and trending topics as some job information in those sections could be very useful at times.
Am speaking from experience....
Re: What Is Happening To Nairaland "Jobs/vacancies" Section? by PresVA: 9:01am On Jan 04, 2016
The problem isn't with the mods. . How many vacancies do we have these days? The economy is harsh hence no much vacancies as it used to be in the past, talk more of seeing one to move to d front page. .

Also op, instead of critising, you can help them by calling their attention when you see a thread worthy of front page...

Wrong.
If there are no jobs advert, what do you want mods to push, is it gnld threads?

like Lalasticlala said, it is when he sees a thread created that he can push to the home page. infact people will even alert him.

I read your open letter to the admin, you have to understand one thing, we do mix topics, as in we feature topics from various sections, but some sections are featured more on fp due to popular demand, people would easily click on topics from politics, celebrities, romance, than from some other sections, that doesnt mean we will not or we dont feature topics from those other sections that people hardly care about.. We still try to balance.. now check this thread out, https://www.nairaland.com/2837950/41-real-facts-know-life, it is your thread which is on fp now, at night, compare the number of views and comments with threads on fp from celebrities and politics, or romance, you will understand what i'm talking about.. People criticize celebrity topics or politics, but they will be the first to open such threads when you post something like ''See the new car olamide acquired after the headies'', but post something like '' how to be a responsible parent, son or daughter'', few peolpe will open that...

Supermod Lalasticlala, you have done well with this explanation. I really appreciate your response to me.

NOW I understand why it is that way and I will copy this to that letter so others can see it. You have spoken the truth and I checked the views, you were right on that too.

I have some suggestions for you to start some engaging activities and I will put them in a post for you when am on my pc.

But, please keep the balancing up for people like us, even with the less views we appreciate such posts too.

You are doing a great job and we all love you. Lalasticlala.

I totally agree with you but still as you know there are still some good job openings,if the moderator of the job section tries to post job opening at least as soon as it is available by such companies it will give the job section a lift..I remember when i started posting job vacancies in other for the job section to lift at least job seekers to know about such job opening i was banned for reason i do not know.i remember how active the job section use to be and i would really like to bring back that flame so ill keep posting hopefully i wont be banned again

What the supermod lala said is what I hav always asserted, most people will always prefer ceberities and politics section and topics to reasonable ones...the admin needs traffic ,therefore they go with the floor, blame the people not management!!
Re: What Is Happening To Nairaland "Jobs/vacancies" Section? by DipoDee: 3:36pm On Jan 04, 2016
Go to the 'How to place Ad on Nairaland' banner on FP, click on it and check the section with the most expensive Ad price due to influx of traffic and you will understand.

Don't blame Lalasticlala for the 'thrash' that makes FP, where will his Salary come from if there is no traffic?

Nigeria CELEB--> Thrash --> NEWS--> NL--> FP--> TRAFFIC--> ADS--> Seuns money--> Lala's Salary.

cheesygrin

Guess who buys data to read the thrash? cheesytongue

I don't think any serious job seeker scans through home page topics alone.
Anyone who really wants a job will sleep and wake up in the job vacancies section.

You are 99.9% correct!

News like Linda Ikeji in the sitting room, davido's new necklace, Olamide's new canvas, whizkid's Gold watch, Rita Dominic's New red gown and all that are what makes front page now on Nairaland.

The whole thing is just boring. The last time I was any serious recruitment ad on front page was more than 5months ago.

ONLY celebrity News/Politics that makes front page now.

It's well.
