Tallesty1:
If the Bible is clear about anything, it is about the importance of judging on a regular basis in order to properly serve and honor God.

Every living person is called to judge so I wonder why some people say "do not judge".

They will quickly quote a verse from Matthew 7 which to me is always quoted out of context by people who are terrified at the idea of someone preaching against sin or pointing out any form of error(s) them.

It is not surprising though cause our generation is trying so hard to fulfil the prophecy in Isaiah 59:8 which says that People have refused to judge, so there is no peace.

Why I am writing this post is to inform people, especially Christians who say "do not judge" that they are sinning against God who called us to

"Rebuke" here means "to criticize sharply, admonish, or reprimand." When people do not recognize the error of false doctrine, we charged to call it out and we cannot do that without judging their actions.

A righteous person will talk of judgment. He will not REFUSE to judge. He will talk judgment.

We are charged in I Corinthians 1:10 to

Read what Paul says here:

Every Christian is called to do what Jesus describes In John 7:24 as RIGHTEOUS judgment.

So any Christian that tell you to not judge is either a hypocrite or a sinner.

Stay away from such person.

Now here's how to judge.

Matthew 7: 1-5 allows judging after you have first judged YOURSELF. Jesus did not make a blanket statement against judgment. He simply pointed out a RULE for judging.

Don't rush to judgment and do not make more of a matter than God makes of it.

When Solomon received his kingdom he asked God to

Ask God to give you the grace and wisdom to judge and then judge yourself first because God hates Hypocritical Judgements.

What happens when we stop judging

If you are a true Christian, then you belong to God. You are God's child. If you refuse to judge and improve yourself as a child of God, then God will take it upon Himself to judge you.

iam happy with the kind of post that pertains to Christians these days. This shows that there are true believers in this place.

@OP, Mr Judge are you perfect? Leave judgement for God for it is written " Do not judge before the time ". One thing dat makes me angry is dat some Christians think they are too holy with their self righteous holier-than-thou attitude, that they condemn everyone to hell by mere looking at their appearance... You can correct someone in love and win the person over. You can rebuke the behaviour but not the person cos you are not his Creator. Leave judgement for God.

I am a believer in CHRIST, i don't judge people cos i am not perfect, instead i will tell the person about his or her behaviour but i will never judge the person at all cos am not God. The Salvation i received in CHRIST Jesus is by His grace but not of myself. Its God that gave me the grace to believe the Gospel of CHRIST when i first i heard it, and i know in the fullness of time, more people will still come to CHRIST even conc atheists.... Left to me, i would love everyone to make heaven but God gave us free choice.... I pray that more people will know the truth about our Saviour Jesus CHRIST.....

So please, don't condemn people, condemn their behaviour but not the person. Correct them in love and you might win them over. God is Love.

Nice post exaxtly...but can u explain this following scriptures. Romans 14:
Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.

8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.

9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.

14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of:

17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.

19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

20 For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

And also I cor.4.
1 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.

2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

3 But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.

4 For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

5 Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.

Its ok to judge. While you are judging, keep the following in mind

Matthew 7:2 - in the same way you judge others, you will be judged. and the standard you use in judging shall be used for you.

James 3:1 - not all of you should aspire to be teachers, knowing we will be judged more strictly.

Based on the above, I think a wise man/woman keeps their mouth shut more often than not. And if you will be honest, most of the time your "judgement" isnt edifying anyone. Its just stirring strife and dissension. Even Paul knew when to live and let live - phil 1:15 - "it is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry...but what does it matter? the important thing is that christ is preached". And Jesus chose a day to confront money changers even though he must have been seeing them all along.

Truth be told, behind a lot of so called judgements is pride

I don't see it.

What I saw Christ is warning believers against making judgments in a hypocritical or condemning manner. Matthew 7:5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
folks4luv:
Judges at the law courts have measurements, they judge you by it, ever seen a law court rebuking a criminal? They judge.
We have measurements too, they judge based on the law of the land, we judge based on the teachings of Christ.

You shouldn't compare the both cause judges judge and condem but Christians judge to correct.

You're confusing it again.

When you see a man wearing bombs and heading to bomb a church, you call him bokoharam right? You don't say he's going to do bokoharam.

You people don't get me at all.

Do you know that when a Christian lovingly and graciously presents the gospel to unbelievers, a judgment is made regarding their standing with God.? Should we then stop preaching the gospel because it is wrong to judge?
folks4luv:
A girl had a foursome, I will be right to tell her those who do that will go to hell cause it is against God's laws,
Judgement passed already so what are we debating?

Judgment is not made from the opinion of you who is correcting her but rather by what the Bible clearly declares.
folks4luv:
but I will be wrong to look her in the face and say "hey sis, ur going to hell", that means I have condemned her, wat if she repents tomorrow?
That's why we are called to judge and correct with love only.

Only God can condem.

Op, u did well, but point of observation/correction; when u talked about "what happens when we stop judging", the two verses u quoted: I Cor. 2:15 & 11:30-31 (And for this many are sickly among you....." : I think u quoted it out of context cos d two verses have nothing to do with each other. Chapter 11:30-31 refers to what happens (if u read d full text) when people take the Lord's Supper (aka Holy Communion) unworthily (ie not qualified), and not about what happens when we stop judging. When we stop judging we fall into Error,it's as simple as dat. Bible says "Test the spirit...." so as to know if it's from God because False Prophets are gone out into the world. Thanks.

I am honestly disappointed in your comment sir, not because you disagree with my post but because you shot yourself on the repeatedly.

My good sir, a Christian who's scared being judged is not a Christian in the real sense of it.

For we Christians are judges and we will judge the angels on the last of we lead righteous life on earth.

Sir, can you tell me how you can correct someone with love without judging them first?

Can you tell someone to repent without judging their actions and works?

Can you know a tree by its fruits without judging its seeds?

Pick up yourself sir and fight the good fight.

Once you find yourself doing what the whole world is doing, you have lost it cause you're not of this world.

21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
To understand Paul's messages, you must first of all create a mental image of the people he was talking to.

Their standing in Christ.

Their level of faith.

And why he was talking to them.

If you can tell me these things about this people then I will tell you what he meant.

This is a great topic and I am glad someone brought it up. I don't have all my references to hand but I can say that Op tried. There is however a little bit more to it. Let me try

1. Paul makes it clear that believers are not to judge unbelievers but only those in the church. He says in 1 Cor 5:12 "It isn't my responsibility to judge outsiders, but it certainly is your responsibility to judge those inside the church who are sinning"

2. In 1 Cor 6:3 he again says "Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life"

Why then Christians in your local church and not just anyone out there?

4. Paul assumes that believers have deep loving relationships based in turn on an unshakable new identity as beloved sons and daughters. This relationship would ensure that the believer knows the facts, knows the sinner and has the opportunity to restore the offender after confrontation.

5. Judging unbelievers doesn't work because they are already accused and condemned in their conscience. How do we know? After Adam and sin fell through unbelief we see them hiding and making fig leaves. God says " who told you you were naked?" Unbelievers are not brought to God by being " named and shamed" they are brought to God by a clear description of what the Kingdom of God looks like and a declaration that it is already in the world. This is followed by the road into the Kingdom which is Jesus alone. The sin emphasis of many churches leads to a wrong interpretation of Gods purpose - to build a Kingdom among men and to be their loving and just king. Challenging sinners with their sin is a misunderstanding - what is at issue is NOT behaviour but LIFE. How can you reprove an unbeliever who does not have the nature necessary to live the Christian life? Jesus did not come to change behaviour but to give us a new life and nature. So let us preach the Kingdom to unbelievers and judge those who are I the church. Challenging unbelievers with behaviour only leads to " fight or flight" behaviour and then long drawn out arguments that wear people out and achieve nothing. Challenging them with the goodness of God and the beauty of his design leads to repentance " How can this to this to him instead of - who are you to tell me this?"

I hope this helps. By the way, I am not a JW. I am an ex religious person; formerly A/P in a major denomination. Now I do family/ community church in sitting rooms with no instruments, tithes and with a small group of highly committed persons. Wishing all NL's the utmost joy in 2016
