It's only on Nairaland that I see Yorubas and Igbos fighting. In real life they make best friends and marry each other. It's almost as if Nairaland thrives on this online hatred between both tribes becos they are quick to forward argument-causing headlines like this to FrontPage.

It is a known fact that Awolowo was prepared to work with Zik, in fact he had asked Zik if they could form a Government together, but Zik prefered Ahmadu Bello. Why do you think people then referred to Zik as the beautiful bride. Awolowo and Ahmadu Bello were sworn enemies hence Awo was jailed in the 60s. But both could work with Zik. If the Igbos have a problem today, they should trace it back to Zik.

And when Igbos call Hausa the slave masters of the Yoruba, I can only laugh. It is on record that the Hausa and Yoruba have never voted in similar fashion except in 2015. Just check history.

Zik accepted to serve under Balewa in 1960 and 1964. Ekweme accepted to serve under Shagari in 1979. Both Hausa and Igbo voted Shagari/Ekweme. In 1999, the Hausa and Igbo voted Obasanjo remember. So who really are the slaves here?

The summary of the police calculations in Nigeria was shown in 2011. The South united and voted in Jonathan. It means if the South unites, they will always defeat the North. The North always seems to be in charge because the South is hardly ever united.
I need to see you asap sir. 3 bottles of Orijin and a plate of Isiewu.

Just imagine these people even a Yoruba man fought with Ojukwu and his biafra against the Nigerian Nation. They come here to the SW to do business, succeed, we sell out our lands to them without discrimination, even aspire for political appointments. ****

The evidence are there, Chief Awolowo was detribalised, ready to work with whoever. He was a master strategist, the aim of the calculation was to form a solid alliance with the Eastern region so as to dislodge the North.
But don't get that twisted, as explained, Chief's choice of Great Zik was not because Zik was best for the job, but because Chief Awolowo was ready to strike alliance with him and that was a token of trust. The evidence of the best man for the job is there evident for all to see. Even in this 21st century, the Eastern region is still struggling to catch up with the West. A legacy set by Chief Awolowo.
The east is struggling to catch up with the west? Aside Lagos which development is as a result of its former status, and maybe Ibadan, which other west are you talking about?

Who instigated the Cross Carpeting of the 50s that denied Zik the post of premier Western Nigeria..? cool

Zik from the east will be "denied" premiership of the west, Mumu, wanted to call you a goat, just that i didnt want to embarass them.
Its like saying that Ambode was denied Governor of Anambra state. why do we have m0r0ns so much on this site?

We engage in a lot of blame trading in Nigeria. Sometimes we even play God as we claim to know it all most times

Still they accusing awolowo of being a sectional leader. What then are the signs of a selfless nationalist? He developed the then capital of old Western Region, yet named no projects after himself. Liberty Stadium, Cocoa House, etc. Imagine the concept behind the naming of those places. Even at community level, those who have not done anything to impact their immediate environment vie with one another to have streets named after themselves in vain glory.

Your people had a hand in murdering 3 million of their children because they asked to stay away from you, your people have hands soiled in Ibo blood and you want them to forgive you just like that? Are you insane? Have you even asked for forgiveness in the first? why should those millions be forgotten? just because you say so? Have the jews forgotten hitler even after germany have made reparation?
My friend Its called "WAR" not a tea party, people will definitely die, is unfortunate you lost the War and 3 million lives we're gone with it. It was a War the Nigerian Nation never wanted but we're forced into. I could remember the clip of the video from Aburi Accord in Ghana. Gowon was laughing and trying to socialize but Ojukwu was not just interested, he was just frowning his face. That to me was a proof Gowon never wanted it but Ojukwu was stubborn.

Military regimes adopted ZIKISM, by appointing Governors outside their states of origin, in order to foster the integrative oneness that Awolowo had DESTROYED.

What happened to Eastern Nigeria?

You can't reap from where you didn't sow.

because Western Nigeria is developing in a very fast pace, zik decided to leave his own region to govern another region. isn't that greediness?

that's how ojuku & friend decided to invade Lagos (western Nigeria) before they were sent back bare footed. grin

Lmao
