1. HARD ANALYSIS:

Divide your SALARY by 30 days and see what you get (i.e. the number of days in a month and see the funny thing about your salary plan).

For example,
(1) An average level-12 worker in the state government civil service earns NGN 60,000.
**** And this translates to NGN 60,000÷30= NGN 2,000 every day. This is LESS THAN the amount made daily by an AVERAGE HAWKER in the city.

(2) A freshly EMPLOYED GRADUATE BANKER in most NIGERIAN BANKS earns an average of NGN120,000 monthly.
***So everyday, you get NGN120,000÷30= NGN4,000 as the daily value for your work-life. By implication, this is LESS THAN the amount earned DAILY by an AVERAGE DRIVER in d city and in some villages.....

(3) If you are a FRESH GRADUATE EMPLOYEE in some oil companies, you earn an average of NGN300,000 monthly. So in a day your WORK-VALUE is NGN300,000 ÷ 30= NGN10,000
**** This is LESS THAN the daily amount earned by an IRRIGATION FARMER supplying vegetables to Lagos MARKETS, a TIPPER CAR DRIVER supplying sand for three BLOCK INDUSTRIES and CONSTRUCTION SITES just 3 times a day and DRIVERS of DANGOTE TRUCKS who have bought off the trucks at scrap value and are using them to convey products between villages and the cities for just five business owners.

--------->>>HOPE BY NOW, IT IS SINKING IN, RIGHT?

And when there is an ISSUE in the FAMILY that requires FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, the DRIVERS, HAWKERS and the rest are looking up to you with a WHITE COLLAR JOB.

(4) If you are an NYSC MEMBER, you DON'T need to be told that:
*****NGN19,800÷30 = NGN 660 is your worth on a daily basis.
I hope you know that PURE WATER SELLERS who own a shop, a pepper soup joint and a small TOYOTA COROLLA car to distribute pure water to five restaurants earn MORE THAN you & WHEEL-BARROW PUSHERS working on contract for three warehouses probably make MORE MONEY than you EACH DAY

............
We shouldn't end at satisfactions from these earnings. We should be more proactive, create room for more income and strive to diversify our streams of income.

The earlier you wake up and smell the coffee, the better for you......

I know of someone right now who will say this is too ideal to be true but take your time and do this analysis over and over again, and you will grasp the crux!!!

STOP waiting for the Government to feed you, feed yourself and help the Government feed others. That is where we are in this age.

Have a great day ahead!!!
Nice statistics from your pov, but how many of the so called people you mentioned making those money are wealthy too? Its God blessings that matter. I know a salary earner in chevron that builds blocks of flats every year and has at least 5 solid mansions for rent in my area, I don't see him again may be has moved to Banana..

Can one become rich as a salary earner?Without other or additional means of income, and without corruption?

Having read all the analysis and comments, its the right time to chip in somethings.

I have known since childhood that earnings doesnt always translate to what we feed on in reality, your salary is not what you really live on. When you divide your salary by 30 days, what you get is outrageously laughable. Many people earn less than 30k per month in Nigeria, divide that by 30 and you get 1k, can you imagine that many working class graduates live on 1k or thereabout every day? Considering the things we do daily, weekly and monthl;, we eat, buy recharge cards, CDs, fuel, data, clothes, etc, can you now see that the reality doesnt correlate with whats on the payslip.

What does it mean to be rich? For a start, being rich means having things in abundance. In this age and time, the chances of getting things in abundance is slim,

only salary earner can never become rich, unless their is additional source of credit. even one yoruba adage says ' ISE RE OMO ALASEJE, OWO RE OMO ALASELA'. this means that,
if you are only salary earner you can only feed yourself but if you are into a business you will surely become rich

YES you can be rich as a salary earner

Ronaldo is a salary earner
Messi is a salary earner
Mikel Obi is a salary earner
MD of NNPC is a salary earner
It all depends on who pays you.....

In this life someone must pay someone

We pay Bill Gates indirectly, Bill Gates pays his staffs and the circle goes on and on

Above all, Only two ways can make you rich,, Either Demonic or Divine,,,,, The choice is yours

From all my research and many books i have read on wealth, the answer is PURE NO!!!!.

To get rich or wealthy and ultimately achieve financial freedom, your salary can be used only as a means to achieve this. The key principle to achieve financial freedom through your salary is to religiously save a portion of your monthly salary e.g. 20% of your monthly salary. Then CONTINUOUSLY use the gathered savings for ONLY profitable investments/trading and ALWAYS reinvest the profits from the trade and/or investment. The only time you touch this money must be for this purpose alone.

^^^THIS IS THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN BECOME WEALTHY THROUGH SALARY ...... of course other options; babalawo, lottery, exists...

Read this book: The Richest Man in Babylon and you will learn all you need to know about money

We like to ignore the numerous businesses that fail in Nigeria every year, and when you go into business simply for money not because you have a passion or have identified an area here you can make impact, then more often than not that business fails.

People like Zuckerberg did not drop out of Harvard to start Facebook simply because of money but because he had a strong passion and belief in his product and that he felt he could build a business which will impact billions of lives.

Lets even come closer to home, didn't Stanbic's Sola David-Bortha earn N170m a few years ago? We are looking for quick money now and ignore the benefits of working hard to build your expertise and credibility. Everyone in Nigeria wants to be a billionaire tomorrow.

To start with being rich is a relative term. To mr A earning 100k monthly is his definition of riches to Mr B,being rich means earning 500k. So its relative like explaining success. Moreover, its not how much you earn that matters but what you do with what you earn and how many generations can you keep it for. Being rich and being wealthy are two different things!!! Its better to aim for wealth & Yes! you can be wealthy from being a salary earner..., in the words of buckminister fuller from the book#RichDad poor Dad;

Wealth is a person's ability to survive so many number of days forward... or if I stopped working today, how long could I survive?- buckminister fuller

In other words, if you (or you and your partner) stopped working today, how many days could you & ur family survive financially on the money/asset you have – maintaining your current expenses?
As a salary earner, make it a habit to INVEST!!!this is your way to become wealthy if you would remain employed!
In this life there are 4types of people
E - employed
S - self employed
B - business owners
I - Investors
The "E" and "S" are middle class citizens, these are the ones we call rich.... those in "B" and "I" are those you can call wealthy.....to understand berra "read cash flow quadrant" by kiyosaki

Re: Can One Become Rich As A Salary Earner? by mimibright(m): 8:09am On Jan 09, 2016
Firstly it depends on your definition of rich. If you mean buying venza and range rovers of 5mil, a house and sending kids to study abroad, wifey shoping in dubai, a house in town and villa, a few investments (mostly houses for rent) YES!! But this happens close to your retirement and depends very well on your type of job ( oil worker, NDDC STAFF ETC. ). If your a civil savant you won't smell close to this life but if you ever do, you must be corrupt, and u will be retired like really soon and don't ask me why. But if you mean becoming a billionaire, with investments worth hundreds of millions (hotels, houses, oil vessels, drilling companies, oil servicing companies , houses in USA, dubai ,flying in and out of the country like it's your backyard ) and yes a house in banana island worth 500m. NOOOOO!!! IMPOSSIBLE Except you steal your companies money and run don't ever come back even if EFCC ARREST YOUR MOM. OFF YOUR PHONE!! AND CONVINCE YOUR WIFE TO CUT TIES WITH HER FAMILY.
This is why it's like this:
1. We Nigerians have a problem with money once we are paid and taken care of by any company. They give u everything bro. Some even take care of your kids medication and scholarships. And did I mention company loans? that's why they buy venza and pay later.
2. salary earners are limited!! you think it's easy to manage a business from work? You could but your sales person will knack you maga tire. have u concidered a life changing deal? A contract a business man can luckily get because he is opportuned to meet such people can cover your 10 years salary bro. And become a don over night and you will say it's blood money.
3. your company don't want to hear that you have a business somewhere taking your time or they will query you, and you will risk loosing your job. so it has to be done on low key.
These are a few a can say for now. Happy weekend !

I know a man who started from leasing tankers and trucks some years back, he had about 8 of them and they where hired by construction companies and he gets around 500k for each. Not to mention he lifts petrol products and supplies to companies. This alone gives him around 1mil monthly income. I think this Zuckerberg case is more than passion. He got lucky Facebook grew quickly it was clear that Facebook was gonna be successful and he would be very busy to mix school and Facebook.Besides he did not just drop out,He first took permission to miss a year from school,Then another year b4 he decided to drop out.. Nobody would have gone back to school with that level of work and investors who had invested in Facebook. If it were to be passion,Why hadn't he grown coursemate, facemesh,or d MP3 plug in he created to a successful business...if there is anyone who had the passion to create a business it Should be Evan Spiegel of Snapchat or Rash Hastings of Netflix.. Their business was not generating revenues for years.
