That's a no go area cos all retired and serving Generals had a piece of the action. The dasukigate was meant for politicians alone.

It wont be long before IPOB Youths will descend on this thread and start raining abuse on the OP

This thread has raised interesting questions. The $2.1 billion Dasukigate is just a small proportion of the monumental funds illegally diverted and misappropriated by JonaOloshi using conduits such as Dasuki, Dokpesi, FFK, Metu and others.

President Buhari has the backing of 90% of Nigerians to identify all the culprits, locate those monies and prosecute all offenders.

The era of stealing and swallowing Yams is over. All IPOB Youths that are not happy with the new development can continue to chant Enyinmba Eyi on the internet.

This is a new Nigeria and Long may it live!
He had d backing of 9jerians to fish out BH sponsors. Hw far

Oga tonye, in as much as you tried to make and prove your point, i must say your opinion has more flaws than credibility. Need i remind you that it was in jonathan regime that boko haram started to fire from all cylinders from the NW to NE nonstop. Need i remind you that it was during jonathan regime that fulani herdsmen were like locust ravaging plantations. Need i remind you that it was in jonathan regime that Muslim hotheads were causing chaos in the North. I don't see anything wrong with his budget on defence. The Ministry that deserved to be probed is that of the Petroleum ministry.

We have anticorruption agencies (ICPC, EFCC and SFU) that are saddled with corruption fight. The reason I'm much interested here is because people had to die while a few were looting. Their blood seek justice. This fight shouldn't affect governance.

My motive is for Nigeria.
When you were campaigning for GEJ and calling PMB all sorts of names, I guess your motive was for your stomach.

Now the tide has changed.

I'm not trying to raise tribal sentiments but has it occurred to anyone that Hausas seem to be the most corrupt in Nigeria government?
70% of corruption cases in govt is Hausa and they steal massively.
I don't want to mention Abacha nor IBB nor the northern governors whose citizens suffer excruciatingly.
Just look at Dasuki. cry

TonyeBarcanista:
Corruption in Nigeria has taken a new height. From stealing few millions appropriated for road project to stealing multibillions and trillions appropriated for the survival of citizens. We have reached a stage where some people elevate the political aspiration of their principal and benefactor over the lives and survival of the poor members of the society. As if that is not bad enough, there is now an army of career sycophants and prospective sycophant from among the masses(victims) that are ever ready to "defend" the perpetrators of this wicked act. A lot have been exposed since #DasukiGate started, and a lot yet to be revealed. What happened to the trillions spent for defence and managed by Dasuki and Defence minister(s) during GEJ's era? Why should we concern ourselves with meagre N650billio($2.2b) while leaving out trillions that was majorly managed by the same player(Dasuki)?

Entire Defence Budget of GEJ's Era Should Be probed...
With the revelation coming from the #DasukiGate, it appears that more is yet to be heard about the corruption practices that went unabated in the defence sector under the administration of Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. In Yar'adua's era, the highest Nigeria spent on Defence budget was N444.6 billion in 2008; That was the peak of militancy in the Niger Delta. His 2009 and 2010 defence budgets were N233billion and N264billion respectively. As President, Dr Jonathan's first defence budget shoot to N348billion in 2011. From 2012, the defence budget sky-rocketed by 300% to N922 billion(approx N1trillion). It was increased to N1.055 trillion in 2013 and N1.17trillion in 2014. Coincidentally, the periods of "trillion" budget were all presided by Colonel Sambo Dasuki as National Security Adviser.

2012 Defence Budget Rivals All Yar'adua's Defence Budget:
It is instructive to note that the total money appropriated for defence by Jonathan administration in 2012 alone almost equal ALL the three years of Ya'adua administration defence budget. In terms of figure, while Yar'adua administration spent a combined N941.6 billion on Defence in his three years in office, Jonathan government spent N922 billion in 2012 alone(difference of less than N20billion). Did we enjoy better security?

Huge Spending Can't Be Justified...
The total appropriation for defence under the Jonathan's administration between 2011 and 2014 is about N3.4 trillion. But can anybody beat his chest to say that what is on ground represent 30% of N3.4trillion? How much was the real allocation of soldiers' on the theatre? How many fighting equipment was bought?

If such money was holistically spent, I don't think there will be any way to justify the spread of ragtag boko haram that was cut to size by a team of police and army within three days in July 2009 to a monster that resurrected in 2010, killing over fifteen thousand Nigerians, kidnapping over two thousands, rendering thousands of people widows/widowers, orphans, childless and homeless, taking territories, and sending gallant men and women of the security forces to their untimely death.

#Arms Probe: Commendable But Not Enough...
As much as I commend, appreciate and support the government in the ongoing $2.2 billion arms fraud, it is important to state that the so-called arms fraud is meagre in real sense and does not represent justice to all the direct and indirect victims of Boko haram insurgency both dead and alive. Nigerians want to see all those that participated in the looting of the resources meant to secure the lives and property of the common man under whatever guise and irrespective of societal status to be brought to justice. Secondary and tertiary beneficiaries of the loot must not be spared either. All monies even to the last kobo must be recovered. May God grant the government the wisdom.

A National Shame and Pain...
It is shameful and disgraceful that some people have lost every sense of humanity. It is more of a disgrace that sycophants are always available to defend these alleged criminals. It is however, painful that the country had to lose precious lives and properties because of the greed of some individuals within the corridors of power.

Finally, Dr Goodluck Jonathan need to explain his role or otherwise in the arms fraud (and any subsequent probe). Nigerians are waiting...

May God Bless Us All and Bless Nigeria
when gmb came in, he said he will let bygones be bygones, though I do not support it, that is what he is doing by not probing BUDGETED spending. He was aware the fg recouped money from the Abacha loot before inauguration only for him to get there and realize the money has been spent without appropriation, this is non BUDGETED SPENDING. The president then decides to probe this and some people are calling it witch hunting. It's really really sad
Re: Beyond #ArmsProbe: The Need To Probe The Entire Defence Budget by jayloms:
I'll make a simple analogy here to drive home my point.

What we see in Nigeria is simply like this: let's assume a wealthy man decides, out of compassion, to lift up a group of poverty stricken individuals but because he's very busy, he decides to get a standing representative to help him achieve this. But, along d line, the rep. becomes overtaken by greed and starts shortchanging the ppl he represents. Now, because this folks have lived and breathe poverty all their life, whatever leftover that drops from d representative becomes like Gold to them and they become satisfied praising d representative without questions.

Relating that analogy to the Op's write up, one would say: Although, heavy budgets were made for defence, very little was achieved in terms of security and the little achievement made was amplified during d electioneering for the gullible to believe esp with d statement that "GEJ admin bought more arms for d NA than any other past admin"; and in response to that I'll say: given the resources that were at d administration's disposal, the Nigerian Army should've been among the most equipped in Africa; paraphrasing-- to whom (govt) much resources is available, much is expected. And so, for me, whether he bought more arms than prev govts, his score stood below 20%.

Moreso, how sure are we this pattern didn't spread across other sectors. One thing is glistening clear, given the resources at his (GEJ) admin's disposal ALOT more, I mean MUCH more could've/should've been done.

Pathetic bro..its so sad..Gej actually allowed madness beyond our comprehension..I suggested on some other thread that these monies be retrieved and the culprits made to live in abject poverty maybe somewhere in sambisa. .let them suffer like the average nigerian... angry

i also want justice but at what price? The fight is surely affecting governance, perception is very important in government. Everybody is talking about it most, it is becoming a main distraction. Tough and wrong choices will likely increase too. Media is filled with it, Nigerians are becoming enmeshed in it, it even constitute the bulk of what is asked and talked about with government officials.
Get the sponsors of boko haram and move on.
surprised this is coming from you but its the truth.

These things are distractions and the fickle minded people are so overtaken by distractions that they miss the real show.

The noise made by the soldiers fighting the war about their lack of arms, including simple things like bullets, that noise was too deafening to ignore. The problem was not the budget on defense, rather the problem and the big question being asked is, "what were all those large defence budgets used for even whilst soldiers kept lamenting and dying due to lack of common bullets for their rifles?"

I don't think the point there is too complex to understand.
