Spybradd:
this is nothing but the evil northern agenda,
why didnt the bloody fed govt give same grant for minerals like crude oil? That bogus grant will only benefit the northern states mostly who contribute virtually nothing to the federation account.
Now the north will receive and share funds, revenue and allocation from the fed acc powered by the niger delta crude while she gets revenue and fund from exploration of solid minerals within her bowels all to herself! Now that the world is gradually doing away with petroleum energy, whither the niger delta? God will so judge the evil contraption known as nigeria..
True federalism ur left nyansh there..
Thank you! This policy is a sham! Govt trying to be clever by half.

Just like your Governor so mouthed, He said Osun do not need FG allocation to take care of its recurrent expenditure, buy right now Osun is the poorest state in nigeria that owe 8m months CS salary ,even zamfara is better.
You've been noticed.

Who is still in doubt about the CHANGE Buhari administration represent? Except there is a river blindness in the wailing communities. cheesy

Meanwhile this is another form of federalism we have been yearning for. It ripple effects will lead to competition among federating states and subsequent development that are people oriented.

Long live PMB
Long live Nigeria

It would have been better if those governors focuses on agriculture. We are always looking out for easy route to make money. This will never take us far.

that is theoretical....in science we have theoretical things and practicable things....nobody will go along way using coal to generate electricity when there is oil and gas and the price has even fallen.....coal was used in the olden days and around the 15th century..

lets be practical

china by far uses nuclear reactors and hydropower for electricity generation and moreover we are talking about Nigeria here and not china

china still largely uses coal power plants if you do your research..it does not mean that nuclear and hydro are not used
..so what if it nigeria we are talking about?if a private company wants to use coal for power generation and finds out it is profitable should govt stop it?

i think i have got ur point....but we know quite well that Nigeria is overdependent on crude and gas for power generation and may not think of using coal...afterall coal has been available all these years

if we are to go by this story then fg has given the states free hand to mine their solid mineral resources so if a company that gas history in using coal for power comes so the state should say no we are only interested in using crude or gas for power? So fg would not welcome it? Because coal has not been utilized all these yrs? I dont get your point

Please don't celebrate yet.
I must commend the Minister and by extension the FG for this decision.
But any informed individual would see that this could have been done right.
The present law regulating the mining industry should have been amended to take care of the the fall out of this directive. This would have the advantage of providing a structured regime for the extractive industry giving the players that this directive is sure to attract. Look at how the oil and gas industry has been messed up especially the down stream because of the inadequacy of the legal regime regulating the sector. The PIB was supposed to take care of this.
Secondly a stakeholders conference should have been called. Both local and foreign investors. This would have sent a clear message of seriousness of the FG to the investors and regulators. This general directive shows a lack lustre posture of the FG in this regard.

Please this APC led government should show us that they actually think through their policies and actions before they put it out there.
