So what was the roadmap plan? Didn't you read where he said they will "dust" it and modernize it? Meaning he is yet to go through the said roadmap plan, how come something he hasn't peruzed haas d solution?

Even the missing budget too shouuld also be blamed on GEJ

I doubt it if they have the brain to understand that.

Tell the honourable minister to go and read the handover note from GEJ administration on Health Ministry and the journey so far. If APC had done so and was proactive they would've known what to do but they wasted 6 months dribbling Nigerians on cabinet appointment without implementing 50% health ministry budget for 2015.

Was there any roadmap by APC/ANPP/CPC/AD that was neglected by GEJ or what?

This is a government that solely rely on the policies and programs of Jonathan's administration to function.

Can you imagine that Buhari's government spokesperson once said during a live programme on Channelstv that the handover documents from past administration were too voluminous to study. Invariably, they expected a keypoint notes.

This government is becoming a joke.

Even though we know Jonathan gave failure a new meaning, that doesn't mean anything should be roped on Jonathan.

You only end up making yourself an object of ridicule.

GodsMercy1:
Minister of Health Prof. Isaac Adewole on Thursday, said the current outbreak of Lassa fever in the country is because the administration of former president Goodluck Jonathan failed to implement a roadmap drawn in 2012.

The minister also disclosed that the ministry was going to begin testing on a potential vaccine that would be used to prevent the virus.

Adewole disclosed these while briefing the Senate Committee on Health headed by Sen. Lanre Tejuosho (APC, Lagos) on the outbreak of the lassa virus in Nigeria.

Prof. Adewole put the number of cases as of today was 129 adding that the hospital which treated the deceased victim of the disease before referral to the national hospital was being investigated.

The minister said that the virus would have been defeated by now if there was the Jonathan administration had the political will to implement a roadmap designed in 2012 to forestall future occurrence.

He said: “In 2012 we recorded 1723 cases, after that, because of the severity, the post lassa fever outbreak workshop took place and an action plan to ensure this will never happen again was put in place.

“But this action plan was never implemented because it was never funded. We will dust the old plan, modernize it and look at if from the political perspective: what can we do to provide leadership, to provide support.”

On the vaccine being developed to tackle the disease, the minister said government has been “notified of a candidate vaccine which we will put through chemical trial to find out if it would work.

“We call it a candidate vaccine and we would want to run it through trials and that takes some time. Hopefully we will do that this year, once we consider it to be effective and safe then we put it to use.

“If it works then that means that we would be able to immunize people in the affected areas but for now we will continue with our surveillance,” he said.

He revealed that the vaccine was co-developed by some Nigerians while saying that the current outbreak is a national embarrassment because although there were about 1723 cases in 2012, the percentage death rate of the current outbreak was higher.

He added that the virus had been a yearly occurrence with 400 cases recorded in 2014 although not as publicized as the current outbreak.

“We can assure you that we are not going to sleep, we will remain at work, we are actively moving across the country,” he assured the committee.

On the recent death of a victim at the National Hospital in Abuja, he said that the ministry was investigating the hospital where the victim was first treated for one week.

He said that the Abuja victim actually came from Plateau state because he was ill and landed in a private hospital where he was kept for one week before he was referred.

He said that the dead victim was only referred to the National Hospital when he was already unconscious and therefore died 24 hours later.

“It is unfortunate because if we had picked this man earlier on, we would have been able to put him on medication and he could have been alive today.

“The situation which happened in that private hospital I have asked our people to investigate. We will sanction the doctor or the proprietor if we find any act on negligence on his or her part,” he said.

In his remark, the Chairman of the Committee said that the Senate will be willing to approve money for the health of Nigerians not just for lassa but for other ailments.

Not surprised.. If they don't heap the blame on Goodluck, who would they heap it on? Oga Jona has become the scapegoat that will carry all the sins and blames in the next three years. Whether the sins and blames be true or false.

This is not about Jonathan as a person, it is about the failings of his administration but your sentiment prevents you from getting the best from your thought process.

Please try & open up your mind to good reasoning because the lassa case is the ripple effect of the failings of responsible agencies under GEJ administration.

Have a good day. cool

APC's management policy is remarkably simple:

When it goes well, attribute it to Buhari's body language
When it goes badly, blame it on Jonathan

This is a government that has been in power for eight months. Eight months!! They are behaving like a bunch of drunks trying to ride a bicycle. Very soon, they will clock one year in office with zero achievements aside multiple arrests and foreign trips.
Apparently, the Health Minister has been undergoing some tutorials with Liar Mohammmed and Oshiomole.

ARM FORCE DAY! . Today is military remembrance day, in memory of all fallen heroes. . . Gboooom!! . This was the sound of motals and other type of improvised explosives, we heard the cries of men, sons, fathers and brothers from afar, i know death was luking around. . Our vehicle came to an hault and we give covers to few others in order to render first aid to the injured and evacuate the dead. . Before we could make a blink, there was an heavy gun fire from afar, the pressure was much on us but we had made a last minute decision-just shot till either you are killed or run out of bullets, our commander ordered. Yes, we have been ambushed. . . Incoming! Incoming!! . Kill them! Kill them!! . This were the cry of sons of men facing terror, they have been shot to die, but they keep screaming, alerting other soldiers about the incoming baggers who keep screaming 'Allah Akbar' to that god of 99 virgins. . They keep advancing on feet in their hundreds and few others on their motorised weaponry, we keep firing and taking cover like our life depend on how harder we press the trigger. The gunFire was too heavy to an extent we were pushed deep backward into our base. The sound of riffles and blast, start echoeing like ringtones, who would dare pick this call of death? . Re-inforcement was radioed for, the airforce jet couldn't fly that night due to technical issues and poor vision, death toll keep rising on both side. We keep fighting this dare-devils and running out of ammonition. . . Kpakam! ....it finaly happened, i have run out of ammonition and i lie there praying my last, what about my mum, oh God? . Allah akbah...!! I heard this from a fellow behind me and i look backward, he was pointing his AK49 riffle against my small head, ready to blast it into pieces. . Arrrrgh, Kabir dnt fire, its me your Regus, i screamed. But he fell down to his face to his 99 virgins, Another soldier shot him before he could shoot at 5 of us who were already confused. . Take Cover! Take Cover!! that was the voice of Corporal Daniel, he was eventually shot dead why giving us guide and cover. Corporal Daniel was to do his marriage in a month time but he died before he could say 'i do' to his long time gurlfriend, he died saving me and my colleagues, he died a hero. . . Now the battle was intensified and we had depend on just one military tank as our strenght for mass gun duel against this rebels, the tank kill in mass and we keep pushing them backward. . But just the tank stopped, their was confusion among the sons of men, the tank commander keep issueing out commands but to no avail. The tank that is popularly called Machine Gun has abruptly stop, thereby putting us in more danger cos our base may be overriden and taken over by terrorist. . There was coax everywhere and more men were dropping dead, the tank - our strenght is down. The tank commander was killed therein, my namesake and a regus 'Bernard Dauda' could not make it out of the tank, he was to marry mid 2016. (I never knew his gurlfriend was in my list until late December 2015) May His Soul Rest In Peace # 105Soldiers . Davidson was also killed, he was his aged parent's only Child. Corporal Sanni could not make it, his wife die a forthnight ago during her first baby delivering. Sergent Obinna body could not be recover after a blast from landmine. Sergent Adekunle (the eagle) also was killed. Corporal Emeka neck was slight by this rebels, he died a hero. . Many others died. They died to make you live They face terror to give you peace. They trade their life for your safety. They abadon their family for your unity. They stay awake at night so that you can sleep. . They willfully laid their life for our dear country. They are the heroes of our time. . . Rest In Peace to all dead soldiers who died in one way or the other in the cause of active duty. RIP to all those civilians affected. . May God continue to guide other soldiers who are still in the RedZone area, they shall live to tell their

Who would Jona blame for the first case of Lassa that his administration was able to handle? Who would he blame for ebola outbreak?

It seems what these ministers learnt from their retreat was how to apportion blames to the past administration.

I am a staunch supporter of PMB and APC but I am not in support of this statement by the minister... They should just face the work, get it done and stop playing blame game...

PMB and his team should know that Nigerians are tired of excuses. We need result else come 2019 we might have to 'Change' them
