i thought we had about 3 with totally different operational commands from where these other smaller units emerge from

guards brigade
112 SF battalion
& 72 SF battalion

Actually, I forgot about the others. I believe it's 176 SF battalion based in Abuja. Serving Abuja and the neigbouring states.

Looks refreshing....... but if we had that kind of thinking, we'd probably just acquire newer more sophisticated birds, we should also eye a large transport and cargo aircraft -we should be able to drop a whole platoon in a battlefield, or a small specialised team with heavy gear, withing hours

one comment in defensenews.com from a saab official sums up our predicament
one of the fastest-growing economies in Africa — is looking to replace its F-5 fighters within two to five years, he said. "Kenya has a strong interest in Gripen, but there is uncertainty there about when they could find the money for such a program." http://www.defensenews.com/story/defense/air-space/strike/2015/05/03/saabs-gripen-enters-a-new-high-fly-zone/26692269/

That throws away any hope of a large spending for new acquisition of a multirole-fighter (BTW is the gripen an air-superiority or multirole fighter?), that's why I said the other day that a time like this is when DoD and the govt should be moving to justify any spending they want as parliament will be more maliable, but hey we should still keep the hope as he also said they were looking for replacement withing 2-5 years, that's between 2017-2020, maybe they have been saving up the money.

Museveni single-handedly ordered the governor of Uganda central bank to withdraw $740Million money which was meant for heath, education, infrastructure and other sectors of the economy to go for the purchase of the flankers., without parliament's or any other office's approval.. you cant do that here

The Eagle Mobile Central Command Post is a vehicle
mounted with various Information Communication and
Technology equipment. This on board equipment gives the
Theatre Commander the opportunity to have first hand
information of the battle space. From the vehicle the
commander has access to both ground troops and air assets
within the battle space.

The Eagle Mobile Central Command Post was borne out of
the necessity to further support the war against terrorism
and insurgency in the country. As earlier mentioned, it is a
mobile Central Command Post that is designed to link up
with the troops in the field, as well as the command
hierarchy.

With this, the President, Commander-in-Chief, Minister of
Defence, Chief of Defence Staff and the Service Chiefs can
have real time contact with the troops in the field. Added to
this, the Eagle Mobile Central Command Post affords close
monitoring of the activities of the troops and passage of real
time information from strategic level to operational and
tactical levels.

Furthermore, the platform affords the Chief of Air Staff on
the move to have a look at the performance of surveillance
or reconnaissance aircrafts.

The project is designed as constructed by Major General C T
Olukoju of the Nigerian Army.
