"Hers is to formulate fiscal policies she's still gearing on at"? For how long? Do you know our economy is seriously going down south?

Do you people really understand what's happening to our economy at the moment? Everything shouldn't be politicized or done on sentimental ground. The president needs to urgently take another look at the Finance Ministry
And Kemi is now d magician.I beg u guys should give d Gov chance to work jare. What did almighty highly over rated IMF stooge Ngosi do during her time. And since den to dis time, pure water, gaari, toothpaste, softdrinks, tablewater, fish and meat, recharge cards market prizes still same.Forget Naira to dollar exchange.

She has been the minister of finance TWICE!!
Where has she led us to?
For me I believe this gov should be given a fair chance to work. I don't even remember the last time we had a budget that didn't rely heavily on oil. Let alone the last time we have a budget that focus more on capital project. Even if the price of oil goes down to $20/barrel, it still won't affect the financing of the budget that much (provided we are able to maintain a reasonable amount of sales).
So when people begin to criticize without giving any peculiar reason and worst still without any solution, it shows they are just being bitter over GEJ's loss
You think they are bitter over Goodluck's loss beccause you are happy over Buhari's win... The clock has more than one hand. Do you think the present Nigerians who are in great demand of the way forward won't criticise any govt when they stray away from the path?
Criticism is one they show be ready to face...
Please digress on this:
Let alone the last time we have a budget that focus more on capital project. Even if the price of oil goes down to $20/barrel, it still won't affect the financing of the budget that much (provided we are able to maintain a reasonable amount of sales).
And please remember there is quota at OPEC for all members and the country has lost it's major buyer, USA. Is it not further starvation that will arise from the lift of ban on Iran by the IEAE?
Please, help us to light up our dark edges here if we have one with your explanations.
Thanks.

Curvinus:
The ban on the use of ATM outside of this country. Is the world no longer a global village?

Ban on generators, a major economic life wire when power situation has not improved.

Arbitry forex policies that are starving our industries of vital raw materials.

Blanket introduction of TSa that is akin to the death nail in certain sectors of the economy.

Aggressive pursuit of decrease in overhead expenditure via retrenchments to boost capital progects, rather than trying to shore up IGR through, for instance, increased vat as was advised by the IMF.

An unrealistic budget that seeks to borrow N5billion a day to finance its deficits.
1, the ban on the use of naira ATM outside the country is not a fiscal policy. It's a monetary policy introduced by the CBN.

2, the ban on I better pass my neighbour generators was placed long before Kemi Adeosun became the finance minister.

3, forex policy is part of CBN's monetary policy responsibilities. It has nothing to do with fiscal policy.

4, TSA is a very good policy for the country but still, it was introduced long before Kemi Adeosun was appointed as finance minister.

5, I am not aware of any retrenchment by the PMB administration and there is nothing bad in trying to reduce overhead.

Don't mind him. Read the article below from 2014 to note majority of the current woes Buhari is valiantly tackling began under the PDP and the very corrupt and highly inept GEJ many of these guys worshipped, never criticised and even backed to continue in office for 4 more years. Note the comments of intelligent economists and analysts, who do this for a living, below while some charlatans continue to come here with their half-baked arguments motivated by nothing but prejudice andhatred of others. They should remind us again who failed to save when oil prices were high as highlighted in the article below if not their thieving messiah GEJ and his looting minions. They should also remind us as well who turned the power privatisation into a "come and chop" crony capitalism exercise that is only producing darkness. If the article below warns in 2014, when oil was $68.00 per barrel, warns “We’re a substantial way from the economy even starting to think about being able to recover,” is it not obvious those wanting Adeosun and buhari to perform miracles in months are not sincere and do not mean well for Nigeria? Some of these guys are very shameless.

Thanks. The records are there starring at us all in the face no matter how much they deny it or pretend it never existed.
The other lie I want to bust is the one they keep telling us that PMB started the currency fixing policy. I recall the dollar surging over $205 (official rate) sometime in February 2015 and the CBN gov had to do something drastic. That was when the dollar was pegged at N198 and it has been like that since then. The election didn't hold until March and PMB took over at the end of May. So how come a policy that started in Febrary 2015 is now being attributed to PMB.

I will be among those Nigerians that will criticize this government if it fails to deliver. But I will not criticize someone who has spent less than 4 months on the mantle. That is the point I was trying to make. Can people just be fair for once? NOI had two chances and she blew both chances up, yet people are still asking her to come back for a third spell. It took NOI 5 yrs with record high proceeds from oil sales to ruin the economy to what it is today. Yet this same people want Adeosun to wave the magic wand in 3 months.
As for the country losing it biggest customer and iran coming back on, it will definitely impact on the earnings of the country. But the fact is according to the budget, projected oil earning makes lower percentage from the total earning projections. SO while there will be loss of income from oil, it won't be as bad requiring the government to borrow money just to pay salary like in the last administration.

Calm down chief, even the overrated Christine Largarde is a lawyer. So dont underestimate a lawyer. A professor of law as vice president, damn Nigerians are lucky! With all the expertise of NOI see where they have taken us.

In your own view, Emefiele is the round peg in the round hole for CBN job?, I bet you are not half intelligence as Kemi Adeosun. No magic anyone can do at the moment about the economy. Iweala,Emefiele and jonathan have all messed it up. Jonathan/Iweala 6 year tenure was a loop hole.

My guy, it seems like you never received the memo and that is why you are here trying to teach IPOD wailers and children of hate basic sense. No one takes those guys seriously on NL any more and they are generally ignored because everyone knows they hate Buhari and pretty much everything that moves and is not Igbo. Good luck trying to talk sense to a people only targeting Adeosun because of her ethnic group and not because of reasons which can be borne out by logic. The woman has already announced her solid and sound thinking publicly and any sensible Nairalander or Nigerian would know she cannot perform miracles for where Nigeria finds herself today courtesy of the PDP.

The irony of the matter is that these hateful elements you are wasting your time with are the same folks who supported GEJ blindly for the 5 years he was President and even gave him 100% of their votes to continue for another 4 years yet they are already preaching that Adeosun, only a few months in office, should be removed. Dude, learn what Nairaland is about lately and learn to ignore the children of hate and their impotent rants and ultimatum. Everyone who loves Nigeria is getting on with the job at hand while they are busy trying to settle scores 24/7. How will any sane or objective person ask for the removal of a finance Minister who has only being in office for three months? Is that fair or logical? This alone shows the motivation of those calling for her sack when they rabidly and blindly supported Okonjo Iweala, for many years, while she only made a big mess of Nigeria under GEJ.

Mr you have really exposed the hidden agenda of nairaland against igbos. But let me tell you with federal government or without federal government, igbos must always be more successful than your tribe. How can you people impose an incompetent person to such a sensitive post and you are hear spewing nonsense against igbos. You think the bad economy will only affect igbos alone. My dear if it affects the nose it has already affected the mouth. Anyway,my people are making outside niaja and benefiting from dollar increase over naira.

Who ever understood the direction of Nigeria economy and what justification do you have for it. People just talk anyhow. You that know much why not give a suggestion? The simple problem is that for a very long time our previous government paid deaf ear to diversification of the economy, now crude oil price have dropped unimaginable. Why not take time to research on the state of other oil dependent economies and judge from that instead of talking nonsense here. You think the economic problem will be solved overnight.

I'm not supposed to dignify you with a reply because you don't deserve any. If our Oil stops flowing today or the price in global market goes down to btw $5-$10, will Nigeria cease to exist?

Does South Korea have Oil? What about Malaysia, Thailand, etc. Most of the rice we eat in this country comes from Thailand. What happens to our arable lands? We hear from ages of diversifying our mono-economy to agriculture but this year's budget to agriculture ministry is less than last year's. Why are you people not asking questions about it?

What are the qualities of a good leader? Did I ever tell you I support Goodluck or Buhari? I don't really care who is there. I only care about friendly policies for our suffering masses
what is this one sayinghuhhuh?

Thoroughbred professionals like Okonjo Iweala and Segun Aganga brought Nigeria into the present financial mess! Despite presiding over the Finance Ministry when oil sold at more than $100 per barrel, they failed resoundingly to make any impact! I have no respect for them! Madam Kemi Adeosun is like the biblical David that God will use to defeat the economic Goliath threatening Nigeria!! She should ignore the embittered PDP wailers and other satanic fifth columnists trying to distract her and remain focused and determined to deploy her skills prayerfully to revive the economy. Truth be told, major world economies are in recession, yet their Harvard and Oxford and World Bank financial wizards could not perform any magic!!! Buhari should stick with Kemi and ignore the idiotic groups making ridiculous demands. Nigeria will rise again!

My brother, if you are to be contracted for a project as an Engineer and you gave them duration for delivery knowing the stringent condition surrounding the project, after that duration you did achieve NULL what yardstick of criticism do you think will be used?

Again, as a matter of public record, the new finance minister released statement detailing her plan for the nation's economy, read it and explain which part you disagreed with, no where on this planet, not even in North Korea will a minister be removed for incompetence before even starting her job, remember her job is not just flipping a switch, you know that right?

Words on the street late last year was that Femi Pedro was being being prepped to replace the ineffectual current finance minister.

The Lagos State House of Assembly had to hurriedly 'arrange' a pardon for him on his impeachment case in 2007.

Alas! Just like everything about Buhari's government, that too has remained INCONCLUSIVE.

Adeosun was announced Minister of finance on November 11, 2015, i.e 70 days ago, or better still 2 months and 9 days.

One has to be sick in the head or dangerously ethnically bigoted to be canvassing for her removal in the midst of an economic downturn of a mono economy like Nigeria. One funny but surprising development is that there is little or no call for removal of CBN governor, Emefiele Godwin, Some of these moronss have even asked Adeosun to be replaced by the current investment and trade minister, an ibo man . By the way, can someone remind me what contributions the trade/investment minister has made in 2 months and 9 days . I know vividly last month Adeosun introduced an efficiency office in all ministries last month to save costs /reduce leakages.

Nigeria is in a storm at the moment , we wont stop the storm now, but we can weather it. The 2016 budget did not utilise zero budgeting as earlier canvassed by the Vice president , possibly because it was going to be very time consuming, but i appreciate it didnt go the austerity way, it would have made 2016 worse for Nigerians.

I understand what you are saying and I agree with you because there is time for every thing under the sun... But people should stop being myopic with selfishness because NOI was competent in her tenures but the politicians are extremely selfish and what doesn't come to them will not go to others (the team led by Amaechi).
Someone in the class house must take the blame of the magic they promised and the FM is seen as the magic wand since the economy is dwindling south badly now...
The should brace up for the blame because no one call for magic but they did and that it will happen in no time

Majority of President Muhammadu Buhari 's ministers are novice and they know nothing about the office they are occupying. They got their ministerial post as a reward for their participation in last year's presidential election between their Baba 70 and the immediate past president Goodluck Jonathan. However, I would love to see the President succumb to this plea and reshuffle the finance ministry because I want to believe that economic experts are still within the APC. I rest my case.

The fear of the ipob is, they know Nigeria will be fixed under Buhari and his team. And Adeosun will outperform NOI, but they hate for this to happen, so they will use distractions and everything possible to make sure their wishes on the "zoo" come true.

I want Yoruba and others who care about Nigeria to take anything coming from these enemies of Nigeria as exactly what it is, their rants are from position of hate, greed, deceit, propaganda and lies. They want the minister of finance to always be related to their ethnic group alone, that's why they are still calling for one of their own to come back despite her failure for 6 years. These Ipob don't want other people to have a chance, and for them to keep coming forward with these shows the rest of us are not doing our job of putting them where they belong.

The fact that's almost lost on all of us is, these ipob hate Nigeria and will sabotage any progress on the way. They must not be given the opportunity. The govt should just ignore them.
