The Director General of Ikemba Ojukwu Centre, Owerri, Dr. Samfo Nwankwo has announced the convocation of a special Conference to identify, isolate and arrest the cause of backwardness of Ndigbo in the Nigerian nation, especially in the last 16 years.

He also disclosed that the Centre was putting finishing touches on a private member bill to be sent to all the Houses of Assembly in the South East to make the teaching and learning of Igbo language compulsory in all schools in Igboland.

Dr Nwankwo in a statement in Owerri, the Imo State capital regretted that Igbos who were on the commanding heights of the military politics, academia and commerce before Nigeria’s independence were now at the lowest rung in the nation’s socio-political and economic development.

He noted that apart from descending from such heights, the race was now suffering cultural identity crisis as the Igbo language was on the verge of extinction.

We live in this country as survivals and not fully integrated in the scheme of things. The earlier we all join the struggle and come together to pursue a common goal as a nation, the better for all of us. It's not too late.

There is no position the Igbo people have lost with the current strive for nationhood. Instead they are making giant strives and are strategically poised for the next level of breakthroughs.

Has there been a period the Igbo people are favourably and politically placed above the other major tribes since the 1970?

Any of such ill musings are figments of deception from 'BFR is dead' soothsayers who have invaded the media space in latter days knowing that their current status in the scheme of things is irredeemably lost.
You cannot lose what you do not possess.

The average igbo man do not really care about politics as far as it doesn't affect his income for an average igbo man...
If I need water I do bore hole
If I need constant light I buy generator
If I need the road leading to my house done I do it my self
If I need good school I build one
This the average igbo man.. . The igbos who were in politics were there for only them selves.
When u talk off one Nigeria no tribe has demonstrated that better than igbo.. ..
We go outside igbo invest and build lasting legacies
This man is not a true igbo man cos he knows not who the igbo man is
