If you are Emulating Jesus, then walk up to the sick patients and do some healings like Jesus did.
Well, if I had as much faith as Jesus, surely I could.

I'm the first to admit I don't measure up to 1 gazzilionth of Jesus' faith.

Nonetheless, there are basic teachings of his that if most of us followed even half of them, Nigeria and indeed the World would be a better place.

How many fed hospitals in the south is better than ABUTH? And who told you federal hospitals in the north lack manpower and infrastructure? Have you gone there? You are not exposed. Smh

So, let Bulgari replicate what gej did with Ebola. Fed hospitals are in every state with all the manpower and infrastructure .

The particular mouse that spreads Lassa fever is predominant in d North and was first discovered in Borno in d 70s. I don't know how it got to d West and Ebonyi. It could be human transmission in those areas. Statistics suggests its on d increase increas like never before so my brother always sanitize your food, home and hands.

We need a vaccine for lassa,it has been existing since the 60's[it was found in Bauchi state] and snatches lives every now and then, over 1000 people were infected in 2012,this time, the mortality rate of the infection has worsened. The reaction of the government has been poor though
Point of correction sir, first it was not discovered in d 60s but 70s; second it was first discovered in Borno not Bauchi and lastly there is no vaccine yet to immunize against it. Correct info is a step towards curbing d spread of any epidemic.

So in essence, after the mouse was found in the 70's, they disappeared nd now they ve decided to resurface...

Guy, if u re ask me, I will say those mouse re genetically programmed to reduce human race, u won't doubt this assertion if u followed a program by UN last year about the population explosion Nd Nigeria was a case study.

You are obviously johesu! My advice to you is that you should go and read widely. The very pple who came up with this nonesense u have postulated are purely hypocritical...cuz when they wanted health care for their family, guess what? they insisted on a doctor's care.... Go and read up about this....

Consultant nurse kor, consultant cleaner ni... pls Google the word consultant nurse and come back to the forum to revert on what u read!
doctors by virtue of their training are the only ones who know each part of medicine... a nurse usually knows only her nursing, a pharmacist knows about drugs, a physiotherapist knows about physiotherapy....it is like that worldwide.. and that's why the requirements to enter medicine are that tough, we spend more years, and the training is also tough.... an allied health worker can never do a doctor's job but I can do all allied health worker's job, it can't be helped! During nurses strike, surgeons dress their wounds themselves... but if all the doctors strike the hospitals will close! Mind you, All doctors have never gone on strike before, all these doctors strikes u see, consultants (senior doctors) are still working.... But no worries since ur obviously johesu, I will leave you in your little bubble of consultant nurses and what not.
What is JOHESU again? Is that another church in Nigeria? You know all funny things are possible in Nigeria. grin cheesy

Well, I had the opportunity to be with eminent physicians & surgeons. Some with the title "Sir" and "Lord" to their name. Some with Nobel Prize, and written medical & surgical books used across the world.

The greatest thing one learnt from them was not their amazing pharmacological, surgical, anatomical, research or pedagogical skills, but their humility despite such achievement that changed medicine as we now know it.

If an elderly man stands before you, he discovered drugs used to treat millions of people today, relieving symptoms, giving better QoL, prolonging lives & yet, he respects even the cleaners & care assistants as colleagues.
All people in hospitals do a good job. No one is unimportant. Without the cleaners, MRSA and other pathogens would be all over the wards.

Learn humility dude. cheesy grin

He insulted my teacher and senior colleague first..

In most countries that you speak, they don't have minister of health, what they have is a SURGEON-GENERAL who is always a doctor..forget the propaganda of one army surgeon nurse who is surgeon general in the US, I have had this argument countless times..
The Surgeon general is ALWAYS A DOCTOR. (M.D)
You are dead wrong!! SURGEON GENERAL in the US is not the equivalent of a Health minister, edit your post quickly.

You have obviously misunderstood me.. there is nowhere I said minister of health equals surgeon general... Nigeria's health system is quite like no other... I was just trying to infer from my post that the head of any medical team is always the doctor (M.D) however you want to look at it...

Particularly in the Nigerian context, it is imperative that a doctor heads the health system.. allied health workers should remain just that...allied!

And just curious, the chief medical officers you met, were they doctors or allied health workers... I have had a brief stint with UK NHS, pls humor me and tell me they were allied health workers...
Is this about who is culpable in the spread of the virus or another subtle JOHESU vs NMA furore? Una no dey tire?

My brother, I don't know why he brought JOHESU in. I don't even know what JOHESU is.

I just corrected his assertion that USA and most countries have no Health Minister.

Then he came up with superiority of doctors over other healthcare professionals palaver. Haba!

Even we that attended universities rated among top 20 worldwide, even top 10 mostly, we still don't go about looking superior to others.

I just told him to chill and not consider other health workers inferior because everyone is there to help patients, not to feel superior.

Shikena. grin cheesy

Now that is part of the illiteracy I speak of...The honourable health minister will deploy scarce resources to where it is most needed, using the discretion of his core team..

Besides it is whether not weather...

I disagree. It's very much about "bigmanity" syndrome in 9ja. From your condescending attitude shown towards JOHESU (I just googled the meaning). Flexing muscle unnecessarily over others.

In modern times, there's no head or tail of medical team. The prof and or consultant could be head of medical/surgical team. The Nurse is head of the nursing team. Various health care professionals have various but ultimately complimentary roles/responsibilities within the team.

Playing a leadership role based on experience/education should not relegate others.

This is where medicine seriously needs to catch up with modernity. Especially in developing countries.

I give you an example: A prof overseeing a triple CABG procedure became perplexed when the octogenarian (patient) became worryingly arrhythmic. Not responding well to anaesthetic intervention.

He asked around the table what to do. IMA & saphenous veins were just being harvested. Various suggestions were offered.

My humble one was to forge ahead, as the guy won't have a better chance next time either. The prof concurred. And I was by far the least experienced then. And old chap made it. grin

Everyone has something to offer.

The head of the medical team is the doctor even in modern times....... it's just too bad if u don't like it.. but that doesn't change the fact..... The head of the medical team, meaning who takes the decision on the patient... to whom does the patient belong....don't know wut context ur thinking of tho...That's why patients are registered under a doctor or consultant... and not under a nurse cuz in the end the buck of decision making stops at the doctors table...Nw I can see u r a johesu no wonder u can't think objectively.. "the prof concurred" meaning he was the one to take the decision and if u had been rude abt it by telling him he was not the head of the team, he prolly wud av not listened to u.. health care workers are a team but the head of that team remains a doctor, if u don't like it, go back and read for ur medical boards...

With your massive ego, I pity your patients. Luckily where I am such dinosaurs are dying out. Only very few good egotistical people make very good docs and teachers. I can see your desire for title is overwhelming. Surgeons where I am don't even bear medical titles unless you become a prof later. Your disdain for allied health professionals is sick. I used to think other professionals just beefs docs in 9ja for nothing. But now, if you represent the mentality there, I can understand those beefing. Long way to go dude. Good luck.
