NIGERIANS HAVE SHORT MEMORY that is why we always run into trouble by repeating the same mistakes. For more than a decade the Niger Delta was on fire, Gen. Abacha, Gen. Abubakar, Gen Obasanjo and even Gen. Dambazau (as NSA to late Yar'Adua) all fought Niger Delta militancy without success. In the end amnesty was granted to the militants who almost crippled the Nigerian economy.
Most of these militants supported GEJ during the last presidential election, many of them are yet to recover from the loss. During electioneering there were all kind of stories about weapons build up, even Obasanjo wrote a letter accusing GEJ of training ethnic militias. APC propaganda channels claimed that through GEJ, Tompolo bought warships from Ukraine. Where have all these weapons disappeared to after the elections?
Boko Haram held Nigeria ransom for six years yet our economy was growing at an average of 6% every year. Militants bombed pipelines just last weekend and yesterday spokesman for the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing said that:
β€œat a cost of $2.50 per thousand scf, this loss means about $400,000 loss to the country on a daily basis (N78,800,000 daily) in gas volume. This is in addition to losses to be incurred daily from affected Power generation ($1,988,223 or N391,680,000 daily). The total daily loss to the country is therefore estimated at N470,479,931. Repairs of the damaged pipeline is estimated as costing ($609,137 or N120,000.000)”.
What would happen to Nigerian economy if hostilities enter full scale in the Niger Delta? Now that Buhari's EFCC has moved to agitate Tompolo, what do you expect other MEND leaders like Asari, Boyloaf etc to do.do you expect them to wait till EFCC gets to them or do you expect them to start preparing for attack. IS THIS THE BEST TIME FOR BUHARI TO START WAR IN NIGER DELTA?
The first job of a leader is to anticipate problems and use proactive means to prevent the problems from occurring. Yar Adua was a wise leader and created the peace we enjoyed in the Niger Delta. Buhari unfortunately seems to lacks that wisdom. He is acting like Don Quixote looking for skirmishes were none should exist.
Are we moving forward or we are going backwards??
Buhari should be tactful. NIGERIA economy is already bleeding and nosediving.Bokoharam war has cost us a fortune, national revenue drastically down, and you want to start another war that will further cost average Nigerians pain.Biafran Agitations is still very much active. You also have powerful currupt politians who you have been stepping on their toes, that ll also fight you back and make sure you don't succeed. This archaic kingship style does not work in modern democracy. There are more better ways to achieve your promises than creating more problems for yourself and average Nigerians.

"AS A LEADER, YOU MUST NOT USE MORE THAN 40% OF YOUR POWER AT ALL TIMES BECAUSE IT MAY DESTROY MORE AND ACHIEVE VERY LITTLE "___GEJ

President Buhari needs to apply this quote in his ways and principles. Dollar is 300+ against Naira, and buhari is alienating foreign investors. Now is Time to focus on Economy to relief Nigerians from this long suffering.
Instead of alienating the masses suffering, the Feds introduced #50 Stamp duties on every #1,000 bank deposit.
And I ask again, Are we going forward or backwards?

Lalasticlala, Mynd44, ishilove pls do the Needful, and God ll bless una for me

I am surprised that the government spends more on salaries and other irrelevances than on capital projects. This is undesirable

The government must cut down its staff to ensure that not much is spent on salaries.

Based on the #50 bank charges,as we all know, the constitution gurantees our importance and not our impotence, although they're now paiting us as impotent. Tell them we did not draft it. It even gurantees our right to make, unmake and remake. This is exactly what we are going to do. We must unmake and remake. Thank you

@OP.

Good to note you are saying the ND is Tompolo, Asari Doku-Orobo et al.Instead of you, for the good of your region, to firmly and unequivocally insist Tompolo, or any looter of the people's common wealth, should face justice, as Buhari unflinchingly believes should be the case, you are insinuating they should be left in peace to enjoy whatever they looted. Are the North threatening to fight Nigeria over the few crooks being brought to justice or do you think many in the SW will bat an eyelid if Buhari descends on the crooks in the region?

Tompolo and co are not above the law. We cannot make money out of thin air - especially in this very difficult period. The money they looted will be useful to Nigeria and the children of your region will benefit from recovered funds unlike when Tompolo and his fellow militants, under GEJ, fed fat but never gave the people a kobo. Just support what is right for a great Nigeria. As simple as that.

You keep talking as if the Niger Delta is automatically the same as Tompolo et al. Buhari is not applying any force on the Niger Delta but he has vowed to crush the lawlessness any criminal may ferment - rightfully so because lawlessness and impunity must stp in Nigeria. Are you not fed up of how lawless Nigeria is? You guys should stop the scaremongering and stop approaching everything with a persecution complex. It is not the Niger Delta Buhari is fighting but men who stole the commonwealth of the people. I would have though most would want looters brought to book or have you benefited from Tompolo and co to be holding brief for them?

They cannot and must not hold Nigeria to ransom. Militants fighting for fair play and justice for the people is very different to asking the people to get behind you when you are fighting to evade prosecution over vast sums of money you looted that they never saw a kobo of. GEJ, Allison-Madueke, Tompolo, Asari Doku-Orobo, Orubebe and many leaders of the NDDC are merely crooks who stole the commonwealth of the people. If the same people want to be fighting for these looters to escape justice for impoverishing them then that is tragic.

If APC knew that oil prices will fall this low, I don't think they'll bother spending so much in the last election. Buhari is just confused and chasing shadows all in the name of finding looters.
Their desperate attempts to recover loots isn't for the benefit of the masses but to appease their benefactors on whose shoulder they rode to win elections. Having found that the dasuski case is nothing but a wild goose chase they have resorted to taxing the poor masses and imposing stupid fines instead of paying the Phantom 5k they promised.

I am not, and I repeat again. I am not against Buhari's fight against corrupt officials, but I ll advise that u watch that closely as it unfolds and tell me if it is done with open mindedness and in accordance with respect to rule of law. Lopsided war against corruption is as good as political witch-hunt.

Nevertheless, has d Feds told us how much they have been able to recover in d last 7 months n what or where d recovered loots will channeled to?
Or is the war another way of rubbing Peter to pay Paul with impunity?

And believe u me, there's no amount that Tompolo, Asari, et al received form GEJ that is to be compared to the amount looted by northern elements and few others since d discovery of oil in d Niger Delta region, with no obvious development in d region. After all, d oil blogs to them.

How can an outsider own an oil well that is at ur backyard, living in affluence n extravagance y the real owners lives in abject poverty?

Nobody has ever looted our commonwealth than the Northerners,so Buhari should toll the part GEJ did by avoiding this unnecessary dust he's raising in d name of chasing after past looters, y the present ones are still doing the same thing, perhaps, it's the masses are bearing the harsh economic conditions. let him let him ensure that d present officials doesn't steal our commonwealth n introduce measures to close the loopholes that encourages looting.

any sane mind would find it very easy to deduce the partisanship in your post, its almost unbelievable that a supposed sane mind will cook this up and still want to come across as intelligent. buhari is not fighting the niger delta yet he has reduced the budgetary allocations for the amnesty program but has increased same for the presidency? he's not fighting the niger delta yet he stated categorically that he cannot treat them equally with others that gave him 97% votes? he even refers to them as 5%ers? he is not fighting the niger delta yet the niger delta is the second least represented region in his total appointments so far?
to show that you and buhari are just out for vengeance using deception as a tool you mentioned only PDP members and loyalists of the former administration from the ND region as the only corrupt persons from the region, im yet to understand why known thieves like amaechi, sylva,ita-enang, Ayiri emami et al whose act of corruption are now becoming more daring are now considered saints by you and your band of sai chanters.
