They increase kerosene, increase electricity cost, charge 50naira to do a transaction in bank, petrol is #110-120 naira throughout Nigeria except in Abuja and lagos, Dollar is 320 naira. Please what did the common man do to this government to deserve this sort of evil punishment beffaling us?

The hike in the tariff is the way to go to make PHCN functional. The current PHCN is hiding under the current fixed monthly maintenance charges to be ineptude. The abolition of these charges will make PHCN active in the technical areas such as metering , improved supplies and so on. I believe the TUC and other organised labour are being bribed to go on strike here. If the increments are allowed, consumers will only pay for what is consumed.

The majority of nigerians as reflected in 2015 election remain resolute, confident and sure of Pmb policies, intentions for nigeria which brought him to power
so Nigerians voted for Buhari so that he can increase electricity tarrif? Can u hear yourself? Nigerians are not Zombies they voted Buhari because they wanted good governance, subsidy in petroleum and kerosine has been removed without people talking...dis is due to low price of oil world wide not because people are blinded by love with the APC or Buhari. It took GEJ 2 years to go out of favour with Nigerians believe me it will take buhari far less time before his ardent supporters will hang him in the sun to dry out. PDP should not think this will be to their advantage because the rage that will follow will totally consume them

As much as many of you may not like to hear it, the tariff increases are absolutely necessary if Nigeria is to ever enjoy reliable power generation. It costs money to import power-generating equipment and foreign expertise, it costs money to buy fuel, and it costs money to improve the power distribution infrastructure. The discos were already failing to cover their costs before the real value of the Naira started to weaken, which is why they couldn't reliably distribute even the meager 4,500MW that the gencos made available. Unless they can cover their costs and make a profit, why even bother staying in business?

Instead of the NLC complaining about the tariff increases, they'd be better off demanding for metered billing instead. No sensible person disputes that people should only be charged for the power they have actually received.

They are fooling their-self. Service charge has been removed, and that is good. As far as power is been supply i will pay. i dont need a u.nion that can not help themselves to help me

Do you how much It cost the current PGN ( Propaganda Government of Nigeria) to generate the darkness Nigerians are enjoying or u think it is free or cheap?

The body language that fixed the power sector which increased the so called power output In Nigeria some months ago which I read about here on NL must have been siphoned again by GEJ and Dasuki ft Methu.

It takes a whole lot of $bn's to generate darkness in Nigeria which is ever constant than the electricity itself so the increament In tariffs Is appropriate so as to keep the darkness constant.

I do not really have any problems with the hike as long as they provide Nigerians with the prepaid metres. Some have it and some don't,that's apartheid.

People keep throwing out the due process line without explaining how due process was not followed. To my understanding due process was followed. They can't stop the tariff increase. Private businesses have the right to change prices. All the NLC can do is sue the DISCOS. Why are they threatening the government?

So people really think that PHCN, DISCO or what so ever the call them dont make profit. Since I am of adult age in Nigeria, I have never seen where NEPA, PHCN, DISCO willingly come to fix faulty transformers/electric lines or poles. It is the people who will contribute money to buy transformers, poles and cables. Yet people pay bills. take for example, a typical city of about 500,000 residents, if only 50,000 pay a average bill of 1000 naira a month, that is will amount to, 50m. in one month, in a year that will be about 600m. if we have about 10 cities in Nigeria with only 50,000 (fifty thousand) consumers paying electricity bill, then we are talking about 6billion in 1 year. This is excluding industrial users/consumers, whose bills run into tens of thousand of naira. There spend little or nothing in maintaining the distribution infrastructure, as individual consumer are made to contribute money to fix transformers, electric cables or poles.
So if you do the maths for the whole nation, a lot of money is been generated by this so call NEPA, PHCN, DISCO- in the neighbourhood of tens if not hundreds of billions every year. What do they do with the income. They always make people feel they dont generate any money.

Increasing the tarrif does not solve the problem. They have to check the corruption in that sector first.

Again if the companies can not meet up with the supply or generation because of the value of Naira that is depreciating, how then do you think the poor populace will meet up with paying an increased tarrif. Salaries are not been increased, the reduced value of the Naira is affecting every one, not only the govt.
