With Heavy Heart I Ask When Did Nigerians Become This silly?

Multiple bombings of Agip oil pipelines have caused thousands of barrels of oil to pollute waterways, farms and fishing grounds in southern Bayelsa state, residents said.

Fishermen say oil flowed unchecked for two days.

A spokesman for Italian parent company ENI says 16,000 barrels of oil per day were lost and the company Monday began working to resume production. The rules of the official’s job do not allow him to be quoted by name.

Community leader Eke-Spiff Erempagamo says the spill is “massive — the biggest in years” in the Brass local government area. Residents blamed the explosions on Thursday and Friday on militants who want a bigger share of oil revenues for the producing states.

The government said similar attacks last week are costing $2.4 million a day.

The height of fo0lishness
Buhari and his family are safe from the contamination of this stewpid act.
The poor fishermen, farmers and the people of the surrounding communities will bear the brunt of the contamination.
The most annoying thing is that they will still come back and ask the oil company to clean the spill while still expecting the company to be alive to its social responsibilities.

Let's remind ourselves again, by showing the devastation, when the fight was about the irresponsible behavior of the Major oil companies in exploiting the Nation by destroying the land, thus depriving the people of their livelihood and refusing to compensate the people financially or infrastructurally.

I used to sympathize and pity the ND whose lands have been destroyed by oil spills for decades but it now appears I (like most other Nigerians) are wrong! The oil companies owned by foreigners are being proved right: the Nigerians of the ND do not care one hoot about their lands and even if oil destroyed the last fish or green sprout, they'd take that for a little handout of money! They bombed a multi-billion dollar infrastructure that will adds and ultimately will always add value to their cities / states, spilled oil that will destroy their environments and cost billions to clean-up, which may not happen for decades given Nigeria's record of handling issues like this, and that is smart? Well, let them just set fire to the place and burn it down completely, let us see who will suffer!

Buhari ordered the cleanup of ogoni land

These asswipes think they are hurting the economy

But in reality they are killing the economy of fishermen, farmers and other activities that'll fetch them small income from the already poor region

The money for the clean up of these areas and the repair of infrastructures should be deducted from the monthly allocations accrue to them. angry

The community will still bear the brunt of this action by some disgruntled mofos that blew up the pipelines.... it's high time the community starts to police itself. They should have learnt a long time ago that there are better mediums of negotiations

The iPod youths who are famous for supporting criminals including Boko Haram , should know that whatever you do in your community stays right there. If you pollute it , it's ur own. Those cows in ND can continue.

Their lands, their problems. This shouldn't bother people. Most people aren't really concerned for the people of ND for the pollution but for the money being lost. The companies have been polluting their lands since the day oil was discovered. If they do the damage themselves for a cause they think right or their voice be heard, how is that a problem?

train up your children in the way of the lord and when you are old they will give you peace.

obviously the youths of the niger-delta have decided that their parents will know no peace.

unfortunately for them, their parents have lived their own lives supporting themselves from the produce of the once fertile land.

I wonder what legacy they intend to bequeath to their own children. a barren, oil-polluted land?

instead of agitating for the cleanup of their land, they are causing more oil spillage.

small time now they will abandon their land and start trooping to the southwest whose infrastructural facilities are already groaning due to incursion from other parts of the country.

....it's a foolishness to blame God for your creation....Does God maken mistake in creating igbo and oil in their soil? if this oil is in yoruba land the story would have been different because yoruba were brought-up with value "omo yoruba awa e soku aje" bee lae sarugun"!

This is one of the keys to security and continuity of a place. Communities have to take control of their destiny and kill banish any strong man type that raise their daft heads. More often than not, these strong men types are selfish individuals sponsored by external interest not community ones. No individual simply gets up one day and becomes powerful enough to take on an entire community let alone a state.

The extent of these environmental degradation now and especially if allowed to continue will be irreversible and the people have to live there hopelessly long after Buhari has died and the strong men have left to enjoy life abroad.

Long after Jzee and kanye preached keeping it real to the fools in the ghetto and became wealthy, the people in the ghetto are still killing themselves while Jzee and Kanye go on to ride yacht in the south of France and drink pretentious crystal campaign.

Why are you complaining ? When you have oil well at your backyard and you see people pumping them to develop other cities while your village remains in shambles for decades when you will realize that it is worth setting everything ablaze.

See, as I've grown,I've come to respect the wisdom of our forefathers. Even as a child people used to marvel why i was so interested in customs and listening to the old people talking, listening to their tortoise tales and so on and trying to figure what exactly certain practices tells us. Few Nigerians realize now that many Nigerian people's despise jealousy and anger and actively beat it our of children around about the ages of 9 to 16. Nigeria is one of the very few places in the world where cultures understand the insidious nature of jealousy. By that i mean our people understood that Jealousy and anger are childish traits that can be eliminated early. Most of the world's peoples' hadn't come to this understanding. This Nigerian hatred of jealousy even traveled with tribes taken as salves from the delta region and east of Nigeria to places like Jamaica where they now have a version of dislike of jealousy called RED-EYE.

I won't preach, but the upshot, in relation to this thread, is STOP LOOKING WITH BITTER ANGER AT WHAT THEY FRIGGING BUILT ELSEWHERE WITH OIL. Not to mention that shooting yourself in the head is not the way to punish your so-called adversary. I realize how this massage might seem at first especially to that zinc dweller class of people to whom wisdom might seem at first like Meekeupidity, which is the sum of meekness and stupidity, but ultimately what the mass of people need is quality of life. Quality of life and wealth are not the same things and it is by no means certain that wealth can buy quality of life.
