The Somali air force was once one of the largest air forces in African history. Its part of the Somali army which was once the 3rd most powerful in Africa. When the Somali civil war broke out in the 90's, much of the air force was grounded. However in 2015, the air force headquarters reopened which marks the beginning of rebuilding the great Somali air force again.

The Somali air force fleet in the 80's is more powerful then most African air force fleets of today

if we put Somali fleet 1981 vs Nigerian fleet 2016 the Somali would likely win

Only the Egyptian , Morocan , Sudanese , Algerian , Ugandan, Ethiopian , Angolan and South African air forces would beat the somali fleet of 1981
