Only the north will starve and maybe the West. As for us in the South-South we are ready to exchange our oil and technological strides from our cousins in the South-East for imported food from Brazil and Thailand. We can decide to produce some staple food like cassava, rice and plantains for sustainance, the rest can be imported if need be.
If Britain can import most of its food from the carribean and still survive, who says we can't do the same.

Last shot: The 2050 I foresee is the era of the 5 seperate republics of the former entrapment called 'Nigeria'.

The presidency is very correct. it is crystal clear, visible to the blind, audible to the deaf. For the last 16 years, we failed to diversify our economy.

thank God for this administration. Let's empower agriculture and technology.

Oh please, enough!! The last administration was responsible for the HIGHEST produce output recorded in NIGERIA'S HISTORY, thus ensuring food security & 2nd highest earner for the country. This administration SQUANDERED that success, now it's here whining without proffering any damn solutions.

During the election period last year, a thread was put up. It was one with detailed biography of each presidential candidate and the parties they were contesting under. The thread was filled with derogratory comments about less known candidates and silly praise for the party/candidate they support. They just stuck with the two the media dictated to them and probably didn't even bother to read up on the other candidates. This is why it makes me angry when I hear things like "Nigeria was caught between the devil and the deep blue sea." We were not. We had options. People just chose to pick one out of the two worst candidates.

this was exactly my point all through the election campaign period. I canvassed for pple to check out other candidates but the Sai baba and GEJ till 2019 pple would not hear a word of it. Unfortunatly, most Nigerians fall into that category.

And what did he suggest is the way forward apart from those unrealistic ideas he suggested. During GEJ's Admin, the former minister of agriculture did a whole lot. The farmers e-wallet scheme and others were introduced, the fg then increased import duties for rice to stimulate local production et al. All those ideas have Now gone down the drain, the rice import ban has been lifted, there is no news about the farmers e-wallet fertilizers and to make it worse the ministry of agriculture got a very lower budget compared to the ministry of information at a period wen everyone is talking about diversification. Most times I wonder what if these people think. They better wake up from their honeymoon and start working instead of telling us what they can do on media everyday.

Excellent post, bros.

Audu Ogbeh, you were appointed the Minister of Agriculture to find a solution to our problem and not to come and start threating us with starvation and death come 2050. If you complain to me the common man, who do I complain to. The Northern military leaders and politicians left our old trade like farming, Coco, timber, rubber, groundnut etc to start to chase oil that does not belong to them in the Niger Delta.

Look Minister, please do not provoke me o.

This isn't any kind of prophesy....It's just the truth. If a nation doesn't produce enough food and keeps breeding a mammoth population, there will certainly be hunger in the on run. Everything mustn't be seen from a religious lens.
Stop wasting your time responding to this brain dead religious zombies. Let them keep breeding like rats, look at the unemployment and crime rate with a population of less than 200 million you can only imagine Nigeria with a population of 500 million with its usual corrupt and incompetent government.

"Thank God for this administration" for what?
What are they doing or have done to empower or promote agriculture. Is it not obvious to even the blind that agriculture/ agriculture empowerment has been steadily going down the drain since the inception of this present administration.

The former administration was getting it right agriculturally before this mediocre administration came on board and obviously destroying every agricultural progress that the last administration made.

The last administration had set every plan on motion on trying to empower the youths through YEAP/Nagropreneurs only for this administration to come and place everything on a 'long thing'. And you are here hypocritically saying thank God for this administration. I thank God for everything, but using God's name to praise this mediocre administration is the height of foolishness.

And what's the government doing about it?
"Nigerians will starve by 2050"..
Yet they're using millions of dollars to explore the chad basin in search of oil that is becoming worthless.
Yet they're budgeting a lot more for ministry of information than that of agriculture.
Why don't they criminalize polygamy or educate people on the importance of family planning?
What are they doing there if they can't find solutions to the country's problems. Bunch of unintelligent failures.
Nigeria had options in the last election but as usual it was reduced to just two. Probably one of the reasons why we keep jumping from one incompetent leader to the other.
I taught u are a highly informed person, but I was wrong, how can u say the candidates for the last elections were reduced to two, didn't u know that other political parties fielded presidential candidates?

I'm aware there were other presidential candidates. I'm also aware there are about 24 other political parties in Nigeria apart from APC and PDP. My point is that Nigerians didn't give them the necessary attention. They let the media reduce their options to just two out of 11 candidates. I believe we're now reaping the fruit.

Did you even bother to take a moment to read just the first paragraph?? It is a warning call for us to make haste to mechanise our system of agriculture otherwise the volume at which our current system allows us to produce would not be able to sustain our projected population in 2050.

"Back to sender" wouldn't cut it, hard work and deliberate pre-emtive actions would.
you're trying to reason with person that can't spell world bank
