Nigerian Soldiers In Borno Refuse To Fight Boko Haram Due To Backlog Of Allowanc by MizMyColi(op): 8:24am On Feb 11, 2016
Nigerian soldiers stationed in Borno, Northeast of Nigeria are resisting deployment to battle over unpaid allowances, a military source has confided in Nigerian Times.
The source also disclosed that the soldiers were equally angry over the recent secret burial of some of their colleagues who were killed in battle in a town in Borno State.

The soldiers Nigerian Times learnt, have not been paid their allowances since November 2015, a development that is cause serious disquiet in military circles particularly in the 7 Division in Maiduguri.
This paper learnt that the soldiers who have from unofficial sources heard that they would be going into battle to liberate a Boko Haram controlled territory, have vowed not to move until the backlog of their allowances are cleared.

Last week, a news website reported that the Boko Haram have been in control of Damasak, capital of Mobbar Local Government area in Borno State since
November 2015.

This position was corroborated on Saturday when Baba Kaka Garbai, a Senator representing the Borno
Central Senatorial District, said the terrorists were in control of as much as half of Borno State.
Garbai, who made this assertion when donating relief materials to residents of Dalori village, where they insurgents struck last week killing nearly 100 people,
said the Boko Haram and the military are each in control of three local governments, with the terrorists exerting more authorityin the other 21 local governments.
“Mobbar, Abadam and Kala Balge are 100 percent occupied by the insurgents. There are some local governments that are partially occupied by the insurgents especially as the local government secretariats have been liberated but their hither-lands are still controlled by the insurgents,” he said.

“From my count, only three local government are fully liberated, 21 local governments partially occupied by insurgents, that is there is still some level of Boko Haram occupation side by side the military or any other constituted authority.

The local government fully occupied by Boko Haram are Abadam, Mobbar and Kala Balge.”
“I will like to appeal to the military to intensify their effort in ensuring they beef up security around the villages and communities that share borders with Maiduguri metropolis. It is very important and more so that this place is porous, there could be attack
from any direction,” he explained.

The Senator refuted claims by the Federal
Government that the Boko Haram had been degraded noting that besides Maiduguri, the other two local governments to have been fully liberated were Bayo and Kwaya Kusar local government areas.

“We should not live under the illusion that Boko Haram are decimated or weaken, these are not reality and neither a true reflection of the reality. The reality is that most of the local government in Borno is partially occupied by Boko Haram,” the Senator advised.

Re: Nigerian Soldiers In Borno Refuse To Fight Boko Haram Due To Backlog Of Allowanc by MizMyColi(op):
I finally got a detailed account of the gudumbali 130, not 105. Gosh -- such horror. I finally confirmed that the picture I posted last year of those soldiers whose bodies looked charred were part of them too. They had never been to Maidugri and didn't understand the tactics of BH. When they saw that Buffalo vehicle and Toyota Hilux Van, they thought it was fellow soldiers. God, what those men did. *sighs* I learnt that some of the soldiers couldn't be gathered completely as some of their parts were scattered on the floor in the bush.‎

But it is good that someone of higher rank is letting us in on the truth, by this I mean the Newspaper publication and Senator Garbai.‎

The last time the Borno state governor alerted President Buhari that the NA were only in full control of two LGAs, Buratai our COAS slapped him. Yes, the COAS slapped an executive governor.

I could literally feel my heart bleed and thump as I listened to Godi (A Lance Corporal stationed at Maidugri) tell me his story. I had earlier shared same story with my people on another ‎forum.

He complained of a lot of ills among which are:-
I learned that soldiers are now being buried on the spot and their families aren't notified

That the soldiers are so demoralized tothe extent that they do not engage insurgents anymore, what they simply do is siddon look.

I was told that it's a big fat lie that BH has been defeated. That the NA can only boast of occupying 2Lgas.‎

That some of them haven't received the allowance due them while some are yet to receive their Salaries‎

Thankfully, this media house report and that of the senator corroborates.

I am not here today as a politician. I am neither here to point out the inadequacies of our government. There's enough of that going round already.

Today, I am here to respectfully demand from our President, the Chief of Army Staff and every concerned institution/individual to look into these issues and DO SOMETHING!
ACT! ACT Please!

Is it not enough that we send this men to the warfront like Rams to a slaughter house?
Why won't the relevant authorities pay these men?
Is it a crime to be Nigerian?
What exactly did these men do wrong?
What type of wickedness and heartlessness is this for crying out loud.

The APC led FG and President Buhari (Whom I consider a sincere person to a reasonable standard) need to act fast, they need to show more sincerity in the manner the with which the affairs of these soldiers are handled.
Probe if necessary, but by all means‎, PAY THESE MEN. Treat them with dignity.

I believe that every sane and concerned person who can actually do something about the lot of these Maidugri Soldiers will spring into action on reading the contents of this post. We owe them that much.

Thank you, and God bless.‎

Concerning these soldiers:

It is irresponsible for our government to be sooo concerned about its image than that of the plight of citizens whom it swore to protect.

It is condemnable.

It is my hope that they get their act together and do the needed.

We cannot become what we need by remaining what we are.

Hope -- Hope in the face of difficulty. Hope in the face of uncertainty. The audacity of hope! In the end, that is God’s greatest gift to us, the bedrock of this nation. A belief in things not seen. A belief that there are better days ahead. - Barack Obama

It's all we got -- Hope.
Let's keep it alive. Let's maintain a positive stance that one day, these things we complain of would be history.
The only way that would happen is if we all begin to walk in the consciousness that true change must begin with us.

We must rise above individual-centric politics and become more masses centric.

Let every concerned person of the NA do something.

We need people who are selfless and whose greed and lust for power is contained to move this Nation forward.

Begin now to play your part, no matter how minuscle.

The opposite of Love is not hate. It is indifference.

Are you surprised?

Somebody that is still insisting the images of dead soldiers that has been on the Internet for 3 years are those of Nigerian soldiers that were allegedly killed 3 months ago

Some people are very very desperate. Having failed in their personal careers , the only option is to become propagandists

Our troops gallantly ambushed BH terrorists just yesterday at a cattle market in Borno so one wonders if the OP has been sleeping in a buka.

Nne.
I beg to disagree pleasesmiley

Have faith.
It is the substance of things unseen.

For a country to be doomed, it mean that almost all its inhabitants are doomed.

I am not doomed.
I was once on an erring/destructive path, I'm in a better place nowsmiley

I know a few Nigerians who have decided to start doing things rightly too.

To say our country is doomed means you have lost faith in everyone of us.
We the citizens are the hope of this country.

APC and Buhari will do little or nothing, except the change we desire begins with us.
