Omike85:timing belt broke without damaging the valves 2wice? You should look at other components like the waterpump and belt tensioner the bearings might be stiff. |

Oga Gazzuz, good day. Pls is it normal for air to blow out from the left side of my car AC air outlet in the dashboard while the car is on motion even when the AC is not on? I just noticed that recently and I can't remember if it has always been so. Secondly, how does one know faulty front upper arms of a car? The front upper corners of my car makes some noises as if there are losed or worn out bushes or tightenings. I have changed stabilizers linkages, later mechanics asked me to change the front shock absorbers, which I did, yet the sounds continued. The mechanic took one of the upper arms as sample to Zuba spare parts market to buy new upper arms, but he was advised that the upper arm was still OK. He came back, put it and even put more washers to make them tight, yet the sounds have continued and this is really disgusting. |

GAZZUZZ:I I slowly release the brake, the car moves at a particular speed. On reverse it moves as I also release th brake. So I assume that it's working. I tried to use the buttons on the steering to control th speed and I didn't notice any change |

seyisanya:the highlighted should not be possible. Your lock has been tampered with, replace the lock to avoid car theft. The check light could be anything, unless you scan there's no way to know what the check light means. Have the car scanned and post the codes here then I can interpret. |

ukata16:the first picture is not clear, but looks like an unscrewed brake line, the second is the heater valve that controls the flow of coolant from engine to cabin to regulate the climate control. Now the valve will move when you move the knob on the climate control from cold to hot, you can check it out. The metal parts look rusted but I doubt there's any thing wrong with it. |

Thank you for your prompt reply. As for the brake line that's unscrewed do I as a mechanic to screw it back or find out why it was unscrewed. Thanks

Engine Doctor, please I drove a neighbor's 2005 Toyota camry and discovered the engine stalls before getting to speed. I told him that something is definitely wrong with the transmission but he objected explaining that his close confidente that brought the car from Cotonou took him to a reliable mechanic where it was prep and tune up. To buttress his point he opened the car booth and brought out a half filled can of Sea horse dextron 111 type transmission. When I saw it I decided to check the transmission type from the dip stick only to discover it requires type IV and quickly told him to empty his transmission immediately for the recommended type. Though he hesitated but promise to change it when he returns from over 250 miles journey to and fro he's embarking. The car is I4 cylinder engine. Would the transmission fry before he's back or am I really exaggerating with my over Sabi? What type of transmission will you suggest he uses? Thanks @ GAZZUZZ |

freshvine:he poured the wrong type of transmission oil into the transmission, the death of the transmission as a result of this blunder will be gradual, but certain. He requires a complete flush to reverse the impending damage. |

I just got a Used toyota Corolla 2006 Model 1.8L V4 Manual Gear. I want to share the major problems I have observed with the car. I'm doing this so that I can know the next thing to do. 1. Car vibrating in Reverse gear (owner claimed it's clutch disk fault) 2. Unlike my official Hilux, this car doesnt pick fast at gear 1. I have to rev a bit or pay extra attention to the clutching. 3. The temperature guage on the dashboard is not working. Kindly shed more light on this. Thanks #GodBlessNigeria |

DatechMan:clutch might cause problem 1 and 2. Problem 3 could be from the instrument cluster(dash board side) or coolant temp sensor (engine side) |

Gazz man. Thanks for your help on this thread. I drive an 03 corolla. I got it in January last year. It was naija used earlier. I believe the previous owner got it in January 2012. I do not know the service history but I think it was not serviced previously with 5w 30 motor oil. Since I got it I have serviced trice with 5w 30 motor oil. I serviced last august last year. I do not drive much maybe around 2000km since last service date. But when I checked the oil level this morning though the oil is still relatively OK but due for service I notice the oil has gone down. The level is close to quarter above the first hole on the dip stick. When I serviced last it was almost close to the second hole in level on the dip stick. My neighbors say my engine may be getting weak. So I ask should I still continue with my 5w30 engine oil or use another heavier engine oil for the next service. And what could be the possible cause of the issue and likely remedies to the shortage of oil. Hope you can understand my issue. |
