I've been to Yankari 3 times in 2015 only... And it doesn't even compare to Dubai 30 years ago when it was still a pile of sand.

you see why we dont progress....Nigeria has no compatriots....why dont we support to grow our own tourism instead of going up and down spending those money in over-seas

i think the major point and what they need to pay attention to would be security of lives..if security of lives is granted then every other thing will be in order

Nigeria has great potentials..just like the UAE but oir obsession with Crude oil has crippled us.The other day when I saw pictures of Nigeria in the 60's I felt bad.Until we diversify this economy we may never grow.Imagine the income that would accrue to this country if Jos was secure and peaceful, Idanre hills, obudu ranch, all our beaches.I wish our leaders'll do the right thing.

While I understand and respect your sense of patriotism I don't agree with your postulation here. There has to be a vibrant tourist attraction before patronising the local touristry industry. And we don't have any or very little.

Let's establish why people travel for tourism. The idea behind tourism is to relax and take a break from work stress, enjoy an unusual environment free from the everyday hurdles of life. And to most tourists security of their lives is a primordial concern. What's the security atmosphere in Bauchi state like? What's the general state of security in Nigeria as a whole? One doesn't have to risk their lives on the altar of patriotism.

For as long as the security of lives and property remains elusive and parlous, Nigeria holiday makers will keep travelling out of the shores of the country for holiday. They have tolerated enough already and the least they can do is to cease the opportunity of their work-free holiday to enjoy some breath of fresh air.

This is exactly what my sister said before boko haram killed her roommate and chased her out of the house she was living during NYSC. She left her bags and clothes there and, through the help of Policemen in the police station she sought help from, relocated back to lagos. Funny enough, the students she taught in the school she was posted to betrayed her and lead the killers to her Lodge. She jumped through the window to survive.

Visit Bauchi, my foot.

thats what i pointed out that security lives is the primordial concern..
nonetheless, the aspect of equipping the tourist industry should be a gradual thing and as it stands now i think bauchi govt is already working on it but patronage will make it grow more.....shalom!
