Hello guys.
God that uses egg to break coconut has ran it for me.
Approval balled in today.

First Application:
Submitted/Biometrics : Sept 15th 2015 (Online)
Medical : October 19th
Medical Passed : October 25th
Denial : November 17th
Conestoga College.

2nd Application
Submission/Biometrics: November 24th (Paper)
No medical request. I submitted my previous medical print out in the new application
Hadn't heard from them after 2 months plus, sent CIC an email, they responded and requested my new LO which I sent immediately.
Approval dropped this morning.
to God be the Glory.

Purpose for denial were the generic reasons. purpose of visit, fam ties, length of stay, assets and financial status. In my previous application I had dealt with all of these reasons, still I was denied. I felt it was because I applied for a PGD.. so the only thing I changed in my new application was my School. luckily, I had an offer from Carleton .. that's what I changed.

Congrats Bro. I tap into the flowing TRV grant Testimony. My prayers shant be granted like yours! Amen

Asides the fact that I changed my institution and program, one major thing I equally did was to rework my SOP. My new SOP was such that even the dullest VO can see the purpose of visit, length of stay, family ties, assets and financial status. (In my previous application, all these were dealt with, apparently not well enough).
What I believe worked against me was that I didn't show/explain my activities since I graduated in 2011. So that the VO doesn’t think that the PGD program is a plan to just leave the country. The SOP was just about my present job description. (I have come to know now that that is not enough). Were I the VO, I’d ask “But you finished your undergrad since 2011, what have you been doing. How come you even finished in 2011 when you finished secondary in 2001” (That’s me tho)?
The way I see it, the truth is Maters applicant have preference over PGD applicants. But if you are a PGD applicant, your SOP is your salvation. You will need to convince the VO of your intentions and why the choice program will help your cause. Show what you have been doing since you graduated, let the VO know you have not been idle. Attach a little background information. And prove the other items on the document checklist.
If you graduated with a 2.1/2.2 try the hardest you can to get a masters offer. I applied to Manitoba and was denied because my CGPA dint meet their requirement, na d same CGPA I use for Carleton U.
there are several with different minimum requirements.

Hello good people of Nairaland. I hail. Congratulation to everyone that has received TRV. I pray that everyone on this thread will receive their own testimony.
I want to ask please, cic asked for original letter of acceptance and I'm going through paper route. Does it mean that the school will courier an original copy to me. I have asked the school and they don't have any problem with it, only that they will need to edit the letter of acceptance they sent before because it doesn't have some of the information it must have according to cic specification. This may be a long post but please bear with me.

This is what they sent as per a corrected version:

To Whom It May Concern,
This letter is to attest that Chinwe with student number .... has been admitted as a full-time student to the Master of Communication at the University of Ottawa for the fall 2016 semester. The fall 2016b semester begins on September 6, 2016 and the registration for the 2016-2017 academic year begins in June 2016. The normal duration of this graduate program is one year but students may take up to four years to complete their program.
Tuition fees for the 2016-2017 academic year will be announced in the summer of 2016, however the 2015-2016 tuition fees amounted to approximately $21,000 for the fall, winter and spring/summer sessions.
Do not hesitate to contact me should you require additional information. Regards,

His name and contact info.

This is a draft of what he wants to send on the school's letterhead. This was not the original letter of acceptance. My issue is this I dont know if this is applicable or if he should write it in the format of an LOA and include the information he included here and also the years needed shouldn't it be specific like 2 years. Please help me fill in the gap as I'm to get back to him to add or subtract.

Then also my program requires a co-op..do I add that now and apply for study work permit alongside my study permit or I should wait till i get there to do that.

PLEASE HELP

@ProMe11..i appreciate your insight brov.thankxx....I actually studied Geophysics..before the whole brouhaha happened with my school..and i taught in a school as some point, worked in a high end restuarant for some time, but since 2008 been working professionally in broadcast television as an editor, cameraman and broadcast technician(master control)...AND the course im going for is Industrial Control technology, which has elements of electrical engineering in it..its a 2year diploma..I wanna change my career path.....As for my year 1and2 transcript, will it be possible to obtain it from my university being that i was expelled?dunno abt the possibility cos v never tried to....or do u think i can skip this part totally in my sop and still make a good case....like dont mention i ever went thriugh the four walls of a uni...
It seems ur d only with interest in my case...i appreciate....
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by AdexStudio(m): 9:15am On Feb 18, 2016
In my opinion, he should send you inform of LOA and courier it. But my fear is that it'll take up to 3/4 weeks before u get it.
On the issue of work permit, don't apply for work permit for now, when you get to Cad you'll sort that out.

Your age is ur age whether u looks younger than your age or not. You should know d right thing to do. I advise u should go thru part 7,8n9 of this thread to see how u can deal with acadmic gap . Telling VO. U were once expel from university will be a suicide mission.
dessy8:
Hi peeps...i wanna say thumbs up to u guys for sharing all your experiences so far....its been really helpfull...I have a very perculiar case, perculiar in the sense that, i havent seen anyone with my kinda situation so far..Ill be 34years old by july 6th,but i look much younger than my age..26/27,i finished high school 1999. So i just got admitted to New brunswick community college to do a diploma course in Industrial Control Technology,...My major worry NOW is how to explain to the VOA the long gap between when i finished high school and now 2016.. ALMOST 17years now...I presently work in the broadcast media/tv industry though..I have been through the university, I graduated in 2007,but had an extra year, was involved in exam malpractice during my extra year and was expelled...i appealed countless times but nothing came out of it cos i knew no one....I started working in 2008 eventually, and ive been working since then....

Please guys...my major issue now is...is it advisable to state that i was expelled while in the university when talking about what ive been upto all this past 17 years in my SOP?, will this affect the outcome of my application negatively?will the VO deny me based on this fact OR should i not mention it at all?...Please guys...il appreciate your suggestions and advice please....This is really troubling me

Yh the duration of study is on the LOA. What I had in mind is that he will still work with the LOA but include the missing info like the latest registration date the exact tuition fees cos its like an overall fee they put there, also start date and finish date cos on cic website this info must be included in the LOA which they weren't. Maybe I'll just explain better to him to add the missing info on the LOA. Right?

Congrats brother once more.. So u mean Carleton offer master admission to 2.2 graduates in Nigeria?? I graduated with 2.2 here in naija and I have tried to see if any uni with accept me for masters but it seems difficult.. Someone advice me to opt for PGD diploma instead.
