...and you have long one!
here is a theory on how ₦=$ can you proof me wrong.
....there are very many commentary on depreciation of ₦ nowadays expecially in parallel market, although parallel or black market can be manipulated by the traders, they either do it on their self interest, so those who doesn't beleive in the prosperity of nigeria can harbour $ as they can on imported goods hereby cause hike!
But in my own point of view the depreciation of ₦ is a great success to this nation if well manage to nigeria situation today. the looted fund is in $ and it must be refunded back in $, so if $1 is ₦198 when the money is looted, then if the money is refund today at $1 to ₦350 the nation has gained ₦152!
imagine if $1=₦1000, the gain is ₦902!
So in conclusion if the government managed to refund the $trillion looted and the refunded money, change it in parallel market, this will reduce the pressure on ₦ and the scarcity of $ in parallel market so the ₦=$.

(take note all the money took out of CBN during jonathan regime were changed in parallel market before ditributed)

you have other opinion?
Speak on the greatest economist, don't mind all this dullard yabbing PMB jare they lack foresight...cheesy grin cheesy

@ oyinkinola, i was even thinking we should allow the $1 = N2000 or what do you thinkhuh So that all the money looted in the last administration in dollars can be recovered and changed the parallel market for the good of the country...cheesy grin cheesy

2017 budget will beat record... ₦1 quadrillion!, all the social sectors will be substantially finance to trillions ₦, poverty will be completely eradicated and by the end of year 2018 Nigeria will be declared a developed state and classify one of the first three country in the index of human .
I know you will argue on how this can happen with the economics situation of today, low foreign reserve, low oil price, with depreciation of ₦.
yes oil price is down, foreign reserve is dry but we still have foreign looted fund reserve at hand! when recovered and well managed, it won't be problem to have money for this budget!
we can only pray that a $ hit ₦1000 and all $1 trillion looted recovered!
I know for sure that with the determination of this government and the support of foreign nation to help recovered all $ trillion looted it will happen.....$1 trillion recovered and change to ₦ will give us ₦1 quadrillion needed to financ that budget!
year 2017 bye bye to poverty!
many r mad few 're roaming. U need help.

It's $1-N400 tonight, our currency is rivalling that of Zimbabwe.

Where are Sai baba crew, I wonder why y'all have gone silent.
If dollar like make e be 1000 naira it will still come back down . Ordinary citizens don't have need for the dollars it's the elites like you that are shouting and it's the elites like you that caused it because when we were earning a lot of dollars you all didn't save for this rainy days ,the elites spoilt Nigerians with foreign goods instead of producing locally , some elites because they wanted to win elections were bribing people with dollars some economy minister was drawing salary in dollars . Now we don't earn as much dollars as we should so we need to save dollars for raw materials for industries and critical machineries and equipment. We don't need to give people dollars to import toothpick, tomato paste, whisky, and other luxury items and anybody that insist on bringing in those things should source the dollars wherever they want we want our economy to grow. The pain of this dollar increase is temporary and with time Nigerians will be cured of the insane appetite for foreign goods and will consume Nigerian made products .

The problem is how candidates are selected.

The parties have closed primaries and then present whichever loser they have decided for Nigeria.

If party primaries were open like in the U.S.A. and people have to some extent a say in it then the best candidates would be picked as a plethora of candidates would be screened before a final is picked.

Even on Yahoo blogs after the election, folks from other countries were asking how a country could have elected a former dictator.

Are we so dumb, that out of 160 million people, we couldn't find someone fresh? so we had to go back in time to bring back someone that stole the presidential mandate with a gun?

I just don't get it!

Daily, you here about Nigerians breaking records abroad and Even just recently a Nigerian solved an age old mathematics problem that had evaded solution from others for years.

So out of all the extraordinary Nigerians, we still had to go back and bring a dictator back?

Why are black people like this? I hate to generalize, but in this case, it just seems that the general population is filled with dumb people, or maybe overly sentimental and tribal people, which is still falls under the definition of dumb in my opinion.

Sad that we keep getting things wrong. I hope one day, we will put our brains to good use and critically analyze a candidate, though that may be hard to do for an illiterate population.
Some countries that are world class today got there through leaders that were dictatorial and undemocratic yet they were able to make their countries into top economies . Singapore and China comes to mind .if it will take a former dictator like buhari to fix Nigeria so be it. You refer to comments of people on yahoo blog to conclude Nigerians are dumb , please read Nigerian blogs to get the real feeling of people . The real problem is people like you who have been so brainwashed by the oyinbos that only things from oyinbo is good and nothing good can come out of nigeria . Wake up and free yourself from shackles of neo colonialism . Remember that was how they came with the bible on one hand while selling our ancestors as slaves with another hand, that was how they told us our gods are fetish and evil even though we now know better.

OP try get sense. We import virtually everything and our main source of revenue is crude oil which is not doing so well in the world market so my question for you is how do you expect naira to stay strong?

Common sense is not common!

Which Government will recover the looted funds? Is it this one that was sponsored by looted funds from Amaechi and co?
You masturbate about Jonathan's Government and pretend not to see corruption in Obasanjo's Government. What was Obasanjo's worth before 1999 and what is his worth today? How did he did become so rich?

Unless that pure water is imported from america, then your frustration is misplaced. Btw the current situation was not created by buhari. Buhari isnt responsible for the decline in oil price or your wilful refusal to buy made in nigeria products! So think with your brain and stop being unrealistically sentimental!
can you see what sai baba has done to you? You don't reason like normal human being. I think he knew what he got himself to when he was elected as the president. Then why is he a president? if not!, is more worst than clueless

Rather than nag uncontrollably, why not tell us what Buhari shld be doing that he isnt doing. Dont just wail for d sake of wailing. Be constructive in your criticism. Nigeria belongs to us all and your unwarranted nagging doesnt help anybody!

Voting for him and his party was good decision.

He and his party peoples are good hands, but they are just handling things stupidly. They just need to wake up.

I the real sense, it's actually still N199 to $1. At most if the currency control is removed, it would be N280 to $1 which represents the 'real' value of the naira currently. The N400 you buy it from the street is the black-blackmarket price because the CBN deliberately wants to deprive/discourage you from buying foreign currencies. The N400 is not the 'real' value of the naira.
