Like I mentioned in a thread I created yesterday that am thinking of quitting my job, but I don't really have a back up plan, so have you ever quit your job without having a back up plan, and how did it work out for you, did u regret your actions and how long did it take for you to get another job.

I did it. It was difficult but I determined to be "on my own" today I wake up 8am, my office is less than 400metres from my home, take my coffee in the morning while watching cnn without a barking order. Liberty is sweet. Just got myself a BMW 5series with my original sweat. "Don't try this at home"

In the US Marine Corps, if you don't have a plan B, then you don't have a plan at all. My 50 cents. Which is now worth more than you prolly think.

Let me advise u a bit, cos it seems u are very confused.
There is no guarantee whatsoever that u are gonna get a new job if u quit, even if u happen to be lucky and get, what is the guarantee that ur boss will be the type u dream of?
Unless u wanna quit and have ur own business which is still risky cos u might not have the skills and patience required.
Forget all the noise about entrepreneurship, it is not as easy as people put it.

Ur boss might be difficult I understand. But does he still pay u as at when due? Are there people still working under him beside u? Is it just about nagging and complaining or does she physically abuse u i.e beating or slapping u?

If u still get ur pay and she doesn't beat u and there are still people working in that office, then I believe u can still stay. Pending when u have an alternative.

The issue is u are taking it too personal and I believe u are an emotional person.
If u can just focus on delivering ur services the best way u can and not think about her rantings, u will be just fine.

yes I have done it before and it work out well Cuss I do believed that what will be will be, though it was tough due to thinking of how you will survive, well mine was just 1 month at home then I was able to secure a three times better job than the job I quit. sometimes if you don't quit a job, you won't get a better job.

Same way some people have waited for months after quitting their job.
It all boils down to the level of responsibility one has. A person that is responsible for taking care of others needs cannot just quit his job like that.

There are bad bosses everywhere, u cant keep running away from them even when u don't know where u are running to. If she's not yet experienced, then she should stay and gain more experience. That will facilitate her ability to get a new and better job if she's lucky.
The easiest time to get a job is when u are in a job.

Quitting without a backup plan is an individual thing.. won't be same for everyone. .

Your ability to cope will depend on your determination, what responsibilities you have, how much money you have saved already..then do you have someone/people who can bear your responsibilities if another source of income doesn't come soon?

However, I think you should have a plan already no matter how small or blur..you can't quit and start staying at home... staying at home doing nothing could be more terrible than your workplace. .

All the best. ..

MissKiffy dear, I am with you. I don't have to come to nairaland to seek people's consent before I do mine.

I would quit my job this month. I know it's tough out there, I am not blind to that, neither am I scared by it.

In all things, there's what's called "integrity" and I'm the kind of person that values it. If not for the need for career experiences, I know I can employ myself, with the sufferings involved tho.

You may pm me so we could form a hunt-partnership soonest

You think back-up plans are foolproof? Yea, I quit my well-paid job, my back-up plan crashed and I don't have money now. No, I don't regret quitting my job as I had many many years to think about it. In Nigeria I know your logic is to regret an action if your subsequent hopes don't pan out. That's wrong. They don't have to be linked necessarily. I'm a much much better person and know a lot more today than I would if I stayed on the job. What just remains is that spark of opportunity and all the equipping I've been doing on myself will bear fruits - and it will come. I do not go after the money as most Nigerians; I go after my personal happiness and contentment. Some jobs force you to live a lie, and I'm just not that kind of person
