While South Africa is busy pulling it's troops out of Sudan Dafur, not even respecting AU enough to give them a reason.

The amount of ignorance here! He doesn't realise that the Maghreb region is the only one which doesn't have a regional force and that this should have happened years ago, as per AU agreements.

Wait for it Chkil, some people here think such exercises are outdated. They seem obsessed with small unit tactics and CQB.

That Algerian video is a 100% conventional warfare military excercise NOT a peace mission of AU style or anti-terrorism ops. You don't know the difference between various mission objectives and types, the training differs. Go watch Flintlock videos and view photos. Ask questions when you don't know things.

Nope, you always quit when mission gets tough. France stayed in C.A.R till today after you abandoned Bangui to it's agony 3 years ago.

Ignorance did not let you realize that AU cannot afford resources for two major large scale war deployments at the same time. Reason why I call for new strategy to make an urgent and successful end to long dragging Somalia war.

1. So it has nothing to do with manpower and funding shortages?

2. After Seleka took power we had no reason to be there

I find it quite sad that you bring this nonsense onto this forum.

Nice small squad tactics and CQB stuff

Pretty useless for large scale operations

95% of COIN engagements are small scale ops with one to three platoons in fire fight, battle space a whole country as big as Somalia, the enemy is in over 100 locations and very mobile, fluid, disappeing from one city and appearing 100 km away in another city. The COIN army will spread all over the wide battlr theatre broken into multi-platoon small detachments. You do NOT know the difference between conventional war Cuba Vs SADF and assymetric war AMISOM vs Al-Shabbab, every attempt to teach you shows you are permanently unteachable.

An interesting read:
From an operational and tactical viewpoint, STTEP provided the NDF with immediate access to relevant doctrinal advice, and proficiency in a style of warfare with which the NDF was not operationally au fait, despite all the foreign training they were given. More critically, it had a proven and testable battlefield record. Executive Outcomes (STTEP’s arguable predecessor from an organisational and service model perspective) employed similar operational and tactical models in Angola and Sierra Leone with great success. In both instances, a precise and timely economy of force, coupled with high levels of mechanised mobility supported by armour, artillery and gunships, rapid insertion of stopper groups and an effective human intelligence (HUMINT) capability proved to be a winning formul

First off, its 4G not COIN

Second:

In both instances, a precise and timely economy of force, coupled with high levels of mechanised mobility supported by armour, artillery and gunships, rapid insertion of stopper groups and an effective human intelligence (HUMINT) capability proved to be a winning formula

Third, you described MOBLILITY WARFARE IN YOUR POST - WHY WOULD YOU NOT TRAIN FOR IT

Its pathetic that countries will send their soldiers to these events just so they can get basic training

Your knowledge of continental military architecture is as abysmal as what you know about artillery.
Some free education:
The Maputo Report of 2003 called for the creation of 5 regional standby brigades that would collectively be known as the African Standby Force (ASF). These are:
1) The Southern African Brigade;
2) The East African Brigade;
3) The Central African Brigade;
4) The Ecowas Brigade; and
5) The North African Brigade.

The North African Brigade is the only one NOT in existence, for various reasons. Egypt wants to avoid the embarrassment of sitting on the AU Peace & Security Council whilst the region has not even established the Brigade.

Fun Fact: of the 4 existing regional brigades, only 2 have been judged by the AU to be fully operational. Name them grin.

Your knowledge of artillery is ZERO, you believe a G-6 Rhino will fire unguided free fall shell at an unseen invisible target 73 km away, when even a Mokopa laser guided missile fired on an electronically marked, clearly seen and visible target missed the target just 8 km, then you believe G-6 artillery will land an ordinary shell on target at 73 km away.

Apart from brigades in Somalia war and Sudan Dafur peace keeping, all those long list of AU regional brigades exist only on paper and office room of administrators. Which countries contributed troops there? How many armoured vehicles and helicopters are they having? What war are they fightng? Ghost brigades.

AU has only one war fighting offensive force today and that is AMISOM Somalia, that is where AU is sinking millions of its scarce dollars everyday on the battlefields. Sudan Dafur is peace mission and hardly ever fights, they do not launch offensives at random, they basically just defened themselves in case of unprovoked assault. AU has no resources to fight two big wars at the same time.... hey ! you think like a man who did not finish school. grin

2. SADAC brigade as well as ACRIC are fully operational

Your spotter? You have soldiers inside enemy territory? They will kïll your soldiers, or they too will have spotters spotting your G-6 and destroying all your artillery. Your Vulture drone will be shot down 73 km away inside enemy territory by anti-aircraft missiles.

Show me an OFFENSIVE war that AU is fighting today apart from Somalia. I guess you don't know the meanining of war or offensive, reason why your folks think a submarine is a shark grin

You are ruining YOURSELF....croat, PLEASE STOP !
