Ask me any questions concerning this, I will give you more details.

Nb: am not a police officer, just a citizen like you, Information is power, it can save a lots of life.

My experience : I met several police officers in same headquarters, we'll dressed, looking smart and agile. I want to believe they are well educated. I n my honest advice, those are the set of people we need in police force generally.

Observation : the awareness on the tinted permit is not that sound and believe me, come April many people will fall victim, so mods pls push this to the fp to save drivers.

Wrong sir, the type of car you drive is not even required

You are wrong!!!
What he said is a fact. Any tint aside from factory tint will be peeled off on the spot and your car impounded.

He never mentioned anything about car type. Which does not matter.

Please be sure of the type of tint you have on your car's windows. Only cars with government plates or private cars with their own security escorts are the ones that I've seen boldly pass highway checkpoints without harassment.

So people staying very far from Lagos and Abuja should travel hundreds of miles to get tinted permit?

Why not make State headquarters a contact point?

Why not make State headquarters a contact point?

Go to your state of residence's police headquarters. The IG of police has authorized state commissioners to sign and issue tint permits. It is free nationwide.

No need to drive your car there, but if it is not factory tints, then expect hassles. The police is authorized to peel it off and impound the vehicle. So just be sensible about it. This is revalidation and could take anything from a few days to a month.

Go there early like 9am and you''ll spend only a couple of hours or less. The N1000 not necessary unless you just want to pay homage. I''ve seen people that paid homage with up to 3-4k and it still wasnt processed fast. Waited weeks to get theirs. Just do your registration quietly and leave, no need to encourage graft. It will definitely be processed someday. Patience.

What I was asking in the last part of my questions was that, when the permit has been issued, does it require yearly renewal?

Is this a new development or has it always been?. Last time I did something like that back in 2008 I spent about N25,000. Gave to one guy and he said commissioner of police or whatever had to sign it at Abuja.
