Nigerian Troops Are Better Equipped For War Against Terror

Nigeria’s Chief of Army staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, on Wednesday assured Nigerians that the troops on the front line are now better equipped for the counter-terrorism war.

The army chief gave the assurance while assessing the equipment recently acquired to prosecute the war against terror in Nigeria’s north east region.

Buratai further told journalists that despite pockets of desperate attacks by the insurgents, troops have been making progress.

Buratai has also said the collaboration between Nigerian army and neighbouring countries under the Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) arrangement is paying off.

He listed Armoured Personnel Carriers (APC), unmanned camera drones and desert motorbikes as part of the equipment acquired.

Buratai said that the Nigerian Army is effectively using satellite and communication facilities for proper coordination, maintaining that the war is now technology driven.

Nigerian Airforce Pilots Treated to a Feast !!
grin shocked grin

War is a stressfull business, not only for troops on the ground but for airmen as well. Without precision guided munitions pilots often times have to strike  targets up close, this brings with it the risk of being hit by anti aicraft fire, it takes raw nerves to carry out such missions.

To boost morale base commanders and workers treat pilots to a special treat-paid for by the base commanders  after each strike mission.

Air Force unveils new camouflage uniforms

The Director in Charge of Logistics at the Air Force Headquarters garrison, Mogadishu Cantonment Abuja, Air Commodore Ali Mohammed stated this at the unveiling of the new woodland camouflage.

He said the Presidential directive stated that only the Nigerian armed forces comprising the Nigerian Army, the Navy and the Air Force are allowed to use military camouflage.

He issued the new pairs of woodland camouflage to personnel of the Nigeria Air Force in Abuja stating that the distribution of the new camouflage is in compliance with the December 2015 deadline to the military to stop the use of the old camouflage.

Mohammed added that the Air Force had earlier distributed the desert camouflage to troops involved in the ongoing operation against the Boko Haram in the North East on Monday.

He added that: “You may recall that due to the proliferation of different sets of camouflage ‎as it has been noticed which beached the security in general in the country.”

Mohammed explained that: “we see a lot of paramilitary and other security outfits, continuing to come up with different set of camouflage. So because of that Mr. President gave a directive sometime last year that only the two shirts of woodland and the desert camouflage are permitted only for the military.”

“It is unique because the Army, the Navy and the Air Force are now using the same camouflage. As from today anybody who is found with any set of uniforms other than this‎ as a camouflage is contradicting the directive and there would be sanctions,” Mohammed said.
