Why talking now, to me Buhari did d right thing, hw wil u feel if u are in d family of Late Mr James Ocholi (SAN), for a bread winner of a family to die in active service and his son was given automatic employment in d ministry of Justice, do u knw wether his son is qualified or not, for his son to b cald to bar is nt a joke. |

I agreed with cramjones on saying that the root of the incident should be repaired but on saying that there should be no scholarship or automatic employment i think he got that wrong. Look at our past heroe like Samuel okparaji, I've heard many people saying his family had been suffering since his demise (though I don't know them physically) but we've been hearing all sort. I've heard about so many heroes in Nigeria especially Pa Samuel Akinkunmi the designer of our flag, people claimed they have been forgotten that their children are suffering that the govt are not helping them, they complained during past leaders even till now. Now this man is late ,he died in office, he died while serving his country, had he been alive he would have cater for his family but now who will. Let the country take care of of that but the main thing is that the cause of the problem should be resolved from the root. And please don't let us be bias this problem never started in the regime of Buhari so he shouldn't take the whole blame ,not even Jonathan should be blame for this had started for long only that at least it should have reduced during his regime which I also expect same from this regime. |

Its just like saying because a black man shot 2 police officers in the street of America the American government should then give the children of the murdered police officers scholarships and immediate employment. That can never happen. Is it today people have being dieing on Nigerian roads? What have they done? Nothing. We will never get things right in this country if we think reasoning this way. |

What they are saying is the kind gesture should be given to all and not being selective about it. Do knw how many breadwinners that die of motor accident? 989900: |

Well this is why I continue to emphasize that only restructuring can truly do more than the cosmetic changes we have on offer and that the current leadership will only maintain the status quo as they are proven 'establishment figures' i.e. operators of the Nigerian system that has led us fifty years to where we are. Some still emphasize that 'jail the corrupt and all other things will be added unto us'. Has it? Are we developing. Can't we see there is something fundamentally wrong with the way we exist in this communal entity. The economy is bad - no solution. Security is bad - no solution. Tribal and cultural chasms are widening - no solution, and on and on. This is a country clearly unable to make headway. Its disappointing. |

amaechi1:The OP is quite correct and you my friend are the one who is wrong. Nobody is saying the family should not be compensated, by all means give the kids scholarships and even give monetary compensation to the family, as you correctly pointed out that is done commonly in the west, when soliders or other public frigures meet an early death. I am sure you'll agree that what is NOT DONE in the west is to just give a civil service job to anybody by diktat. Every civil service appointment in the developed world is obtained by going through the relevant recruitment process. It is the matter of the job an,d that matter ONLY that the OP is referring to, and on that point he is 100% correct. The civil service must not be the playground of politicians to give jobs to at their whim |

As far as its coming from Buharis govt, to pple like the op its wrong nd must be corrected, it wasn't wrong wen GEJ was doing same thing, if government doesn't do anything , op would still be d first to cry out "insensitive government ", "heartless government ".. op go to those countries u r talking abt n go n get a job on merit, den come back n tell me how far? |

Saifullah01:you have said it all "award to children of deceased police officers"... how many children of deceased police officers in Nigeria are being awarded Stop trying to prove a point when there is none, this is a clear case of "na dem dem", if their father was a police officer we would not have been hearing anything about their case now |

amaechi1:I was just reading the posts but since you mentioned the bolded, I just had to respond. It is very understandable if the children of soldiers are awarded scholarships or compensated. How many children of soldiers have the Nigerian government compensated ? If children of soldiers are awarded scholarships, I don't think people here will complain because I believe they deserve it more than anyone else. The US you mentioned will not grant automatic employment to the children of ministers or those of senators. I've not heard of such. You can correct me if you know of any. I'm not here to condemn what the government did or commend them. Nothing can replace the life that was lost. |
| Re: Why PMB Got It Wrong With James Ocholi' family "compensation" - CramJones by Gkemz: 9:10am On Mar 09, 2016 |
Op i disagree with you. No amount of compensation can substitute the life of the lost loved ones. We shouldn't see it as a means of discouraging merit but a way of sympathizing with the family. Automatic employment and scholarship given to the children will help alleviate their sufferings. |

yeah you r right. nice article by d way but don't u think ur wrong particularly in this case cus the son in question was just called to bar and offering him an automatic employment in d ministry of justice sounds about right.....so what else do u suggest if not employing someone who had just been called to bar into d ministry of justice? |
