How did an unlicensed driver become the minister's official driver?
As a driver to a top federal official, why wasn't he properly vetted before being hired for the position?

The FRSC should learn from this incident and introduce both a theory test, and a practical test as part of the driver license application. Also, all drivers of top government officials must be vetted to ensure that they have valid driver licenses.

Lastly, this sad episode should prompt the FG to expedite action on the rehabilitation of federal roads.

Re: Ocholi's Driver Had No Driver's Licence - FRSC by Nobody: 4:09pm On Mar 09, 2016
Stupid FRSC what does having drivers licence have to do with safety on the roads.

How many road safety officials have valid driver licenses or even vehicle licence, they just use their uniforms to drive on the road.

If they dont know what to say they should shut up. Sea Pirates.!!!! angry

Although having a valid drivers license doesn't guarantee if one is a good driver or not.

In a normal society, when your drivers licence expires, your driving record is re evaluated and you are sometimes re tested to ensure you can operate a POV. In an abnormal society like Nigeria, people like you don't understand this hence your question. I can't believe 28 people liked your post. It underlines the mentality in Nigeria. I really fear for una.
Mr Normal society dis is Nigeria,if u don't know let me educate u...here in naija u r not even asked on how to open d door of a car before u r issued license not to talk of test driving....so if u r not based in Naija u stop commenting on matas dat critically concern d welfare of every day to day Nigerian...

Wont they leave the poor driver to rest in peace? It's not as if the president has included him in the burial plans

Yet the family is claiming foul play in his death.
If the family is claiming foul play, then they should check themselves because the player is always an insider;one of them. The enemy of a man are members of his household.

A boy who has been called to bar is not qualified?

Na ur ancestors be pharisees in the time of the bible.

Asking Jesus for a miracle, so they can believe he is the son of God.
Does calling to bar mean he is qualified?
Is he the only Nigerian called to bar and yet without any employment?
I pity you and your generation if this is how you think.
I Sincerely pray that God will grant the Ocholi's the fortitude to bear the loss.

The take home here is 1.The corps marshal general should up his game;ensure all executive member drivers licenses are checked ok before engagement. 2. All executives should ensure their drivers comply to FGN road safety rules and regulations. Point 1. above might be difficult because of lack of distrust among humans but he should at least send reminder mails to all concerned.

I tire oo... They will start digging out irrelevant facts. They didn't know he had no driver's license since when he's been working with the man abi? Are they now saying the driver caused their deaths? A valid driver's license is no guarantee to save one from accidents, when fate summons, even monarchs must obey. It's a very painful loss, I really feel for his children; may God be with them.

When a person doesn't have a license to drive, the tires of the vehicle may burst. Is that so FRSC?

An expired drivers licence is same as not having a drivers license.
The FRSC boss said his name was not on the database, so how did he get the expired license

I have to condole with your family for having someone like you who reasons like sh*t.

Imagine you're saying a lawyer who's been vetted by professors of law and SANS, and justices, that he's not qualified to work for the federal ministry of justice. Just imagine your sense of reasoning.

Is he the only lawyer? No, but he lost his dad, mom, and brother same day. The federal government is making that offer to encourage him, like government should do. Its called welfare.

You will only be right to complain if he was an illiterate and was offered the job of a professional.

Get over your hatred my friend

Is it that he had no drivers license or the license had expired.
its quite unfortunate that you are an educated illiterate...... Whats the use of having a License if its expired, its as good as not having a license... cos the drivers license is that legal document that certifies that one is well acquainted with the rudiments of driving a motor vehicle, understands road rules and regulations et al. The FRSC has just told you that he didnt have a drivers license and you are still doubting them abi you sabi their work pass them ni? blaady wailer

But one would expect a minister's driver to be vetted to a good degree. If no valid or no licence at all, then he was driving illegally.

Is that acceptable at such a high level?

Let's be honest please. Due process is one thing we have so much disregard for. But it's necessary in a civilised society.

In this case, if true, DSS, FRSC, the late minister and the driver didn't do well.
Agreed!

Does having a Driver's license qualify someone to be a good driver in a country like Nigeria, where even a cripple can be issued Driver's license after some "settlements". I got my first Driver's license when I never knew how to drive just because I needed it as an ID Card for business transactions. This is not an excuse in a crazy clime like Nigeria. It was his time to die whether Driver's License or no driver's license.
Not having a drivers license makes you a disaster waiting to happen.

Being a lawyer does not make him qualified to work in the ministry of Justice. There are more Nigerians who go through undescribable pains than he had gone through. If government cannot extend such gesture to others, then it is called partiality. Such amelioration is selective and a compensation of a political family which can be done through other mediums.
Lastly, if this is your definition of welfare, sorry.

when I went for my most recent driver's licence, the FRSC officials at ojodu insisted that before capturing our passports we must attend a lecture. In that lecture I discovered for the 1st time after many years of driving that the maximum speed limit on any road in Nigeria is 100km/h.
