New guy was joking ... ... or don't we joke either? Sorry

No man, i wasn't referring to you. I was responding to the Nigerian who made an offensive remark.

These are the only ones I have for this set

I also have some which I'm not authorised to post. The SADC and EAC Standby Brigades are the only ones fully operational at the moment. As far as I know, EAC hasn't conducted any SF joint exercises, whilst Mahombekombe was our 4/5 annual one.

If you care to discuss: PM me or continue it here:

I take it you're either Bot or Zim?

Do we know if any force on the continent has the 40km plus rockets for these systems? Or the guided types? I like it when we can make the most of a seemingly old system.

Cool to have you join in, it's a beautiful thread.

Let's see what Zim has to offer. We already got Namibians, Ghanaians, South-Africans, Kenyans, Nigerians, an Algerian and an Al-shabaab loving Somali who keeps getting banned for posting terrorist content.

Everyone apart from the new guy understands our unofficial rules governing the thread.

Come now Henry. Must you do this bait and switch every time? It really is getting stale.
OAUTemitayo's post which attracted your approbrium was in support of Augustine's nonsense. Which you chose to ignore.

Stillchris addressed a completely different post.

Can we have some fvcking consistency here?

Tanzanian Army A-100 MRLS can hit targets 120km away.

Augaugust asked an honest question, no matter how sinister it's shaped. The other guy made a racist remark, which simply is unacceptable.

Surely you joke! Even the Tanzanian military officers with whom I've interacted cannot understand why their politicians bought this joke of a Chinese system.
1) Not in service with the PLA;
2) Claimed distances completely falsified;
3) Fire-control system widely inaccurate beyond 25km.
And that's just the Tanzo military view!

What's that Eeben Barlow said? "Africa remains a dumping ground for obsolete systems". Not, I might add, because our military officers are incompetent, but mostly because of opaque procurement systems that maximise graft/kickbacks for senior defence and political persons!

- Those are the figures quoted, i didn't type them.

- distances which can be attained using special rounds. Sources claim.

- The chinese make a sh1t-load of equipment. You simply don't expect them to field everything.

I beg to differ, graft is an issue, however it isn't the only issue. Incompetence is a much larger problem than graft, lack of local defence industries is also a problem, the politics of arms procurement is also a major problem. Corruption isn't the only issue.

Bunkum! And you know it. Nothing honest about Augustine's insecure rants about the SANDF. Or are you too much of a coward to call him out?

I abhor personalising issues here: as a white guy, I will tell you we're a minority in all arms of service in the SANDF, with the possible exception of the Military Health Service, and that is also changing. I know you read SA defence news and you know our Def minister has been worried about white recruits dropping below white population ratios.

Seeing it was my personal photos from which he chose to smear those of us in uniform, I take great personal exception that YOU would try to excuse this evidence-scant slime.

There is a side of me that can see how, generally, a cheaper system cannot perform the same level as a more expensive system.

However, the procurement systems, are flawed. What is the role of selection trials? What about acceptance tests? How do you sign a document authorising shipment when you have not tested the system to the limits?

I was having a very similar discussion with a friend today. I get disappointed in us.

Also, while the Tz experience is real, is the cause the rocket system per se or they are not fielding all the sub-systems that supposed to make a complex system like that effective? I watched the Syrians loosing planes to rebels for years. When Russians went in, I expected to start loosing planes within days! no, it did not happen that way. The Su-24 shot dwon by Turkey does not count.

However talking about inaccuracy of the MRLS, I was just watch this: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=02c_1457736826 . my God, they scatter.

But they very same systems decimated Ukranian formations last year. Something about the smaller armies and complex systems I think.

Again, more obscurantism.
FACT: The PLA rejected the system.
FACT: No credible test, anywhere in the world, has ever attained the distances claimed by the manufacturer.
FACT: Tanzo firings found it to be accurate only out to 25km.

Can it reach 120km. Possibly. If one didn't care about accuracy.

We all appreciate the contributions you've made/make in diversifying the content in this thread, especially from the SANDF standpoint.

Augustine's view doesn't represent the views of any Nigerian/contributor in this thread. Instead of joining issues with him, you/i/we can all ignore that his particular comment, and get on with the fun of contributing to the thread.

I've called him out on multiple occasions, however if i choose to ignore his comment for the sake of peace, I'd rather be a coward than call him out, and have this thread ruined.

No.2: Ignore the insecure gnats that try to draw you in.

We like to say Africa is a dumping ground for various obsolete systems, well what have the Africans done to remedy the situation.......... Mostly nothing.

It is certainly not just corruption like you love to claim.

Henry, may I make a suggestion?
I know you started this thread and this is not your site. Get on to Seun and suggest you have "moderator" powers over the thread you started?

Pics and videos strictly, please. If at all we have to say anything, it's a description of the pic.

Follow on discussion can only be about the specific pics and nothing else?

For example:

PIC 1: A Recce 5 operator at Kiwanja in the DRC;

PIC 2: A SA Pathfinder.

What is the current 2016 standard issue assault rifle of Ghanaian army INFANTRY? I mean regular ARMY infantry men not special forces.

M16 is the main assault rifle for the army infantry but some unit in the military use different variant of the AK.

Yea, like deploying your men inside Nigeria, is more important to you.

The news made all South Africans happy until it was proved false. None of you guys complained about needing your troops elsewhere when it was time to deploy SANDF in Nigeria, you were all very happy to deploy them where the job is now very easy after hundreds of Nigerian troops have died fighting to crush Boko Haram this far.

Yes every South African is happy to abandon Darfur Sudan where the suffering Dafurians have no army, but same South Africans are rejoicing at the news of deploying their special forces to Nigeria that already has a 100,000 man army including 10,000 SF and CT-COIN forces, and a war that has almost ended with Boko Haram heavily degraded and decimated.....yea, shows the world who truly loves Africa and who just wants to hunt for glory.

Pic...Nigerian army SF, CT-COIN.

Just like how Nigeria withdrew from Darfur? And the Congo! and Mali!
