Yh!! GTX 980 is currently the best on d market. And judging from some of heatpipe and AKBliv's arguments AMD will probably overtake Nvidia especially with DX12 now in play...

When it comes to GPU's it's what performs 'better' (no matter how small the margin) that most consumers will go for. NV will respond with a driver workaround but when it comes to "async compute" NV will lag in performance as their hardware architecture isn't designed to do it (optimised hardware more often than not, perform better than an optimised software implementation)

The NV cards may perform just as well but then AMD's products are cheaper so why pay much more for the same performance. (this excludes die hard fanboys who will just buy it because they are loyal)

Nope. But i dont expect Nvidia to do much to try to stay ahead of AMD. Anyways, we'll just ve to wait and see

The technical details you'd need will be found on the manufacturers website. Nvidia use the 'maxwell' architecture' and AMD use the 'GCN' architecture in their current models so that's a start point.

The video will explain why the maxwell GPU won't benefit fully from DX12 as maxwell doesn't do async compute on a hardware level.

Currently NV GPU's perform better as they have excellent drivers to deal with non-async compute. According to Steam's data there are approx twice as more PC's using Nvidia cards for gaming an indication that they offer better performance overall and possibly backed by good marketing.
