I know that APUs are used on newer AMD architecture and often it's GPU first then CPU, other than that, I don't know much about them, because i haven't actually taken the time to read about them (I guess I just don't care all too much about them.)

In regards to SoC, it's a very similar concept in which both the CPU and GPU share the same chip (e.g. Snapdragon 820 CPU with Adreno 430 GPU on a mobile-oriented chip).
