Morning House, Pls, which is better between a Bluegate 200ah and Mercury 200ah deep cycle? Also, can I use 1 Bluegate and 1 Mercury together? |
Re: Inverter Users : Lets Have Your Experience by spinola: 12:01pm On Mar 13, 2016 |
kam27: They have a lot common, however the Mercury 200ah Deep Cycle battery is cheaper and comes with a free battery tray along with red and black protective terminal covers. It is not advisable to use batteries from different manufactures. For best results always use batteries of the same type, capacity, age and manufacturer. 1 Like |

*****AVOID ERNEST NGWU******* This guy claims to repair inverters. We took 4 Inverters to him for repairs. He claims that the board and Mosfetts were blown. On the 5 kw units he claimed that the charging port was bad and the other had issues that he could not explain. He denied repairing the 5 kw units that we never gave him 5 kw units. I have them and one of the readers here took it back to the client with me. The defective charger port still does not charge the batteries. The other inverter that we took back to a client last night the ATF function does not work, the charger light comes on but it does not charge the batteries. The fans in the inverter don't work. The most glaring was that the display on one of the inverters was no working and he did not notice it. So far two out 3 are bad. We made him return the 4 th. HE IS A FRAUD, A LIAR, A CHEAT. Please avoid Ernest Ngwu at all cost. He is a quack and has no clue what he is doing. We avoided repairing inverters in the past and our first attempt has ended in failure. |

I have very good experienced with my Inverter and Battery last 4 years. I have Microtek EB 700 VA Inverter and Exide Inva Master IM 10000 Tall Tubular Battery. This combo is suitable for frequent power outages. I got higher acid volume/Ampere-Hour and battery has electrolyte level indicators. But recently last month 26 Feb, i exchange the battery because old battery is dead and less power backup. I bought same battery of Exide online from BatteryBhai.com. So i enjoying old days with full joy. 2 Likes |

I have an issue with my mercury 3kva inverter.I usually have nepa light for 12hrs, even though the batteries are fully charged and the indicator show that.the fan of the inverter keeps on humming.is this normal or it was wrongly installed. Also for my fellow mercury battery users which is better the mercury elite tubular or the mercury deep cell. |
Re: Inverter Users : Lets Have Your Experience by spinola: 9:25pm On Mar 28, 2016 |
mokrak: Hi Mokrak, The reason for the fan is still humming while the batteries are fully charged is because NEPA light is still going Via the Inverter to supply the load in your house connected to it. This is normal behavior for Mercury inverters. With regards to Mercury Elite Tubular or Mercury Elite Deep Cycle dry cell batteries. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. The Tubular batteries have the highest capacity (220ah), they have 18 months warranty and are built to lasts between five to 10 years. What some may consider a disadvantage of the Tubular batteries is the fact that they need maintenance every 10 months( or there around), when the electrolyte inside them gets low. On the other hand the Mercury Elite Deep Cycle dry cell batteries are completely maintenance free, with a shelf life around 3 years 1 Like |

mokrak: I use Mercury inverter. I think Mercury made it so and it is very anoying. However, on 2 rare occassions the fan stopped working even when there was NEPA. On the 2 occassions we had light for like 24hrs non stop. Its either the fans are inadequate or their processor produces too much heat for the fan to take a break. During charging, i have noticed that the fan actually blows very hot air, so i understand the need to stay on. |

@ spinola and @adanny01 thanks for the reply.my heart can relax due to this information.on the tubular batteries I thought they were better due to the price.thanks for the clarification. Just wondering if the fan continues to work over time it more likely to get damaged. |

@adanny01, I just want to say something in regards to charging time in relation to battery amperage and voltage. All this calcutiobs of charging capacity by p=iv is totally wrong brother. charging capacity has nothing to do with voltage, 12v, 24v etc, but has a lot to do with AH of the battery being charged. As AH of battery increases so do the resist to follow of charger current. this means charging 100AH battery is faster thsn charging 200AH Charge ( coulumb) = current * time. that is C=Ampare* time in seconds. this means is only current rating of charger dertemine how fast it charges independet of voltage tage. 1 Like |

adanny01:All this calculations of charging capacity by p=iv is totally wrong brother. charging capacity has nothing to do with voltage, 12v, 24v etc, but has a lot to do with AH of the battery being charged. As AH of battery increases so do the resist to follow of charger current. this means charging 100AH battery is faster than charging 200AH Charge ( coulumb) Q = current Amp * time. that is Q=Ampare* time in seconds. this means is only current rating of charger determine how fast it charges independent of voltage but also heavily depends on opposition to follow of this current per time, that opposition is called resistance of the battery being charged if the Amp of charger is the same. Resistance of battery R=V/I of the battery. So in Ideal world a battery connected in series to increase voltage while AH remain the same will get charged twice faster than battery connected in parallel to increase the AH while voltage remaining the same because the resistance will increase significantly too but where the real world charging scenario come to play is that since this solemnly depends on resistance if the Amp of charger is the same, there are a lot of factors that determines resistance, not only volt/AH of batteries. The wires size, the cell (there is no way the two battery are the same), the electrolyte, temperature of the batteries and of that environment etc. Hope this help a beat. |
Re: Inverter Users : Lets Have Your Experience by adanny01(m): 11:16am On Mar 30, 2016 |
evergreen247: Thanks, it helps a lot. I used my logical reasoning to assume somethings but later got it when pros came with details. If you read all comments you would have seen it. Your comment has added to what have been said especially with regards to P, V, I and R with their relationships. The solution is bolded and the basis to the question i first asked. Basically, the question was this way; 1. I have an inverter 1.2kva 12v 20A charger with one 12v 200ah battery 2. My friend has 2.4kva 24v 20A charger with two 12v 200ah battery in series. I initially thought my friend's system would take twice as long as mine to fully charge (assuming resistance is the same and state of charge of batteries are all same). After all that was said, my current understanding is that the two systems above will have approximately same charging time considering the assumptions made. Hope that is correct. |

Re: Inverter Users : Lets Have Your Experience by evergreen247: 7:38pm On Mar 30, 2016 |
adanny01:That is correct but where people are wrong is in terms of battery runtime and variables used in the calculations. if the same appliance is used in both let say 30w light, 2* 200AH will last twice th 200AH in ideal condition. |

My inverter system is behaving very funny now. If I power the inverter on, it will shut down automatically as if it is overloaded even when I did not connect any load. I try to charge the batteries with the inverter, initially there were charging and in a very short time, it showed 100% charged. I then decided to power the inverter on again, yet again it shut down automatically. Before now, it only shut down aumatically when it is errorneously overloaded. I first suspected that the batteries are bad. I changed the whole 4 batteries to new one. The problem persisted. What could be the problem? And any remedy? I use epsilon 3.5 KVA 48V inverter |

I got a used 900va inverter from a friend, and connected it with my two fairing used 12v batteries at home on parallel...it work very well the first rime when connected to load after few days it couldn't carry my TV nor fan but only bulb... I was thing its d inverter board or d inverter is wick since it a fabricated one. What might be d problem. Moreover how much does 2kva cost |
Re: Inverter Users : Lets Have Your Experience by spinola: 6:40pm On Apr 02, 2016 |
evergreen247: 2* 12v 200AH = capacity 200AH when connected to a 24 volt Inverter, because you have to connect the batteries in series to double the voltage 1* 12v 200AH = capacity 200AH when connected to a 12 volt inverter https://www.batterystuff.com/kb/articles/battery-articles/battery-bank-tutorial.html 1 Like |

Consider electricity generation alternatives, group tells FG Mudiaga Affe, Calabar The Senior Staff Association of Communications, Transport and Corporations has urged the Federal Government to consider alternative sources of power generation such as solar, wind and thermal energy in order to boost electricity supply. The association made this call in Calabar, the Cross River State capital at the end of a three-day special delegate conference. In a 10 point communiqué issued at the end of the conference on Saturday, the association also urged the Federal Government to encourage the establishment of private refineries in order to complement the existing ones with a view to stop product importation regime in the country. The communiqué which was signed by the President and General Secretary of SSACTC, Muhammad Yunusa and Chile Ekeke respectively decried the deplorable and near collapse state of electricity generation and supply in the country. It read in part, “Electricity generation and supply has led many companies and entrepreneurs to fold up and relocate to other countries, to remedy this situation the government must explore other available sources of power generation that may be realisable from the combination of solar, wind and thermal energy to lift Nigeria out of the current worsening power situation.” On the scarcity of petrol, the association frowned at the current fuel situation in the country which has brought businesses to its knees, adding that it was negatively affecting Nigerians. The association also urged the Federal Government to vigorously and genuinely pursue the exploration of agro allied and solid minerals. It noted that the exploration of agro-allied and solid minerals will bring about quick recovery and reduce over reliance on oil as the only source of revenue. While lauding President Muhammadu Buhari efforts in combating corruption, the association called on the president not to relent in the recovery of looted funds. They called on the president to provide equipment for security agencies as well as boost their morale in the fight against insurgency and other forms of insecurity. “Nigeria must return to her enviable position. President Muhammadu Buhari should evolve a pragmatic approach to solving Nigeria’s socio-economic and political challenges by engaging all stakeholders,” it added http://www.punchng.com/consider-electricity-generation-alternatives-group-tells-fg/

spinola: I got confused when i saw your post but thought harder using P=IV. 2*200Ah in series is 24V 200Ah which will give 4800wh While 1*200AH will give 2400wh A 30w light bulb will run (4800÷30)= 160hours on the 2 batteries while the same bulb will run (2400÷30)=80hours which is exactly half of the back up time. Of couse, ideal conditions applies on both instances. If given 2*100Ah in series which will be 24V 100Ah, power will be 2400wh which should last same time with a single 200Ah battery. |
