Suraj, popularly known as Jarus, is a first class graduate of economics and a member of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN). He is also an MBA candidate of the Edinburgh Business School, Scotland. He has nearly a decade experience in accounting and taxation, majorly in the oil and gas industry

I am a fan of Jarus and also used to be a follower of jarushub; but began to lose interest of recent, haven noticed they now focuses on its seminars and ways to generate money. It's been long have read any enticing, enlightening article about career. I know money is important but this is a blog and you can't pull traffic without posting articles

You're right. But it's not just a blog, it's a startup that pays close to 1m to rent an office and pay its staff. Definitely, long articles alone won't pay office rent. But your comment is noted all the same.

There are different levels of proficiency required to prepare different types of accounts and do tax computations. It is a fact that some businesses do not employ chartered accountants because they cannot afford them. Nonetheless, their accounts need to be prepared and tax computation made. A smart accounting graduate would suffice.

So, while you work on being certified by ICAN or CITN, there are still opportunities for you to do accounting work for people if you are good on the job.

Your accounting degree is worth something if you can back-it-up by delivering when and where it matters.
