To promote youth employment and entrepreneurship the Muhammadu Buhari administration, through the (BoI), launched a N10 billion Youths Entrepreneurship Support (YES) project in Abuja on Thursday. According to Okechukwu Enelamah, the minister for industry, trade and investment, the project is a part of the federal fovernment’s youth employment programme that is to create 36,000 jobs annualy. The government reportedly plans to create 3.5 million jobs in the next three years. An applicant for the project must present the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or higher education certificate as collateral to qualify for the loan with two external guarantors. Whereupon he/she would be able to access up to N10 million loan with single digit interest rate and repayable over three to five years. Mr Enelamah appealed to prospective beneficiaries to repay the loans for the success and sustenance of the project. Waheed Olagunju, the acting managing director of BoI, said the bank was cooperating with 11 consultants across the country for the first phase of the project. Currently, more than 40% of Nigerian graduates are unemployed, while an average of eight million Nigerians enter the job market per year. It would be recalled that a year ago a similar project called the ‘Youth Entreprenuership Strategy’ was launched by the Goodluck Jonathan administration. http://www.bengist247.com/2016/03/federal-government-launch-youth.html?m=0 |

With Buhari in the helm of affairs i expect this to be a success and make open my optimism about its impact. On a second thought, it is like YouWin of the last admin. I hope the make it as transparent as possible unlike the politically skewed YouWin. |

Sibrah:Politically Skewed Youwin? You must be kidding. Many Nairalanders saw the YOUWIN adverts here, applied and got Funded. It's success is now used to bring this new program by DFID and replicated in some East African countries this year |

sholatech:Yes, it was skewed still. There were neutral beneficiaries but it was also used to settle some people. Stop say a funding scheme is replicated anywhere because it suceeded somewhere. YouWin is basic venture funding backed by feasibility study. |

YouWin from my observation and analysis is not sustainable, we need a programme that will be self sustaining. I hope this program will meet sustainability test and create the pool of employment we crave for. |

Sibrah:YOUWIN was NEVER used to settle anyone. And I strongly put it to you. I have the DFID document after its appraisal and their due diligence involving Ac Nielsen Worldwide and then the roadmap developed for East Africa based on Nigeria's Youwin Score point |

Relevant questions for interested youths Who is qualify for this loan? Where does one apply? When should one apply? Apart from the NYSC certificate, what other items/requirements are needed to complete application? Any tax incentives/holidays/exception for beneficiaries while paying back this loan? Any conditions for guarantors? |

sholatech:You dey mind that yeye idiot? he has been politically blind folded, mentally scarf folded, stupidly brain pumped, and his slavish dementia would soon hit the road. How does the APC Yes program compare to YouWin. The concept is already dead on arrival as their brainless initiators. I can bet you this people have nothing new to offer Nigerians. |
