Bros you no narrate the thing complete joor, Nigerian youths wishful thinking has always started from 100 level in school.

100 level(fresh in school) - I'll graduate with a first class! angry

200 level (after a couple of C's) - l must graduate with a 2:1

300 level(Reality setting in) - hmmmm 2:2 is not a bad result. undecided I can get at least a150k job after graduating.

400 level (some F's here and there) : Baba God, I don't want to come out of school with third class. cry

NYSC (After managing to scale out with a 2:2) - This NYSC is a waste of time, I need to finish this service on time to start making cool cash! angry At least 100k job won't be too bad

After NYSC and a couple of GNLD interview experience - This country sef don tire person, I will manage 50k job just for the experience.

After 1 year, no job - any job vacancy thread they see on nairaland they apply. Accountant needed in an Oil and gas company - applied!

Graduate Trainee in Zenith Bank - applied!
Dangote Truck Drivers needed - applied!
Bouncers needed in a popular night club in festac - applied!
Anything they see they just apply. As I dey now, I don apply for 5 different jobs just this morning alone and still counting. grin grin

walahi they know it's tough our there, them just having faith ni. Y'know we are very religious people here and we have excess FAITH.

Lol... But then again, many are not aware of the true situation, they just hear that the country is in a bad state.
U know almost all Naija students depend on their parents for upkeep, alert dey enter every month so dem no know how the moni take dey hard to get. During service again, alert dey enter too.
Its usually after service that most of them come to realize what the true situation is cos parents would have probably hands off.

As I was reading comments on this thread,a song came up on the radio. I don't know the other guy but could hear Olamide badoo.

What the other guy was repeating was

Do re mi fa so la ti do.

And I just thought of it. Graduates are complaining of getting any work to survive and this ones are singing do re mi fa so la ti do and they are buying g wagons.

Can you see that the world is coming to an end
No bro the world aiint coming to an end cos the guy is being productive, something i expect an indidividual who claims to have spent the last four years acquaring knowledge to do rather traversing the length and bredth of 9ja in search of suvival.
In my opinion, the hnd or bsc certificate has done nothing else but limit the ability of the nigerian youth, everybody armed with a 2.1 would rather settle in one small company collecting peanuts rather than venture out and see what we can create.
Mek una sidon dia de wail o, i go soon employ all of una, meanwhile i de look for house boy nna go do?

I can resonate with this...

Before NYSC, I worked in a Cyber cafe/ Computer School where my "boss" at one time paid me #700 after three weeks... What!

Around that time, I remember trekking a distance whose transport equivalent is #150: 45 mins trekking...with a less than minimum wage sal cry

After NYSC, things began to change....Looking back nostalgically, I can't relate to those years of hustling and bustling. We are still in the game though...How time flies!

Father, may all those going through what the Op is describing have enviable jobs before this year ends.

After spending 5 years studying 4-year course, i knew i have to make use of all my chances . I just cant stand the chance of seeing myself jobless. I was so scared unemployment after service that i make the business section of this site my pal. I stumbled on a thread and i digested every information on it and learnt alot of things there. Immediately after passing out, i used my savings to get a pc and a modem and started freelancing. My monthly earning is so average to the extent of recently turning down a 70k graduate trainee job here in akure. My dad once told me all my mates are out there submitting cv but i am always busy with stupid computer. He kept silent when i showed him my last earning.

This was very funny but sad at the same time.

Imagine how many dreams have been crushed in this country simply because we cannot get our act together.

This is why we need guidance counsellors in our schools. Over 90percent of students in our high schools and tertiary institutions don't know anything about life outside the school.
They think that life always moves like this: Primary===>Secondary===>Tertiary===>NYSC===>Good Job===>Enjoyment.

The reality is that sometimes, you have to wait and endure at a particular point for years, especially after secondary school, and after NYSC. Only just a very infinitesimal number get it at a go without having to wait.
It is all wishfull thinking which make most people adopt defence mechanism. Some achievable goals a times may not be realized, frustration sets in and life becomes difficult.Ambition is good but it is imperial to change what we can and leave what we can not..
The reality is that securing a very lucrative job in Nigeria is not easy, many stucked after primary, some after secondary and most people get confused after tertiary education..reasons to this is not farfetched, you are getting older, need to setup a family, your siblings start to depend on you, parents are now old they are on pension, technology is fast improving and machinery begin to takeover some job positions meant for human before, population keeps increasing,NYSC continue mobilizing graduates to the world of work but there is no befitting work to do...
Yes,you have a very good certificate, you are smart, intelligent, hardworking and diligent but the situation on ground is somehow beyond your control, just keep doing what you know how to do best with time things will get better...If you follow excellence success will surely chase you.

God bless nigerian youth.
God bless life modifiers.
God bless nigeria.
